  1. Awesome job, this is very action packed build! Very accurate too! The dwarves heads in the barrels cracked me up.
  2. Very creative use of color, awesome job! The the staff held by the tower guard is a great little detail!
  3. Thanks! It is indeed a lot of fire - around 10,000 of those darn trans-neon-orange 1x1 round plates, minus those that bounced off into oblivion or are forever lost in the carpet. As far as joining the Guild goes, the tough part for me now is getting a story and some characters together! What fascinates me so much about the Guilds are the builder's ability to intertwine wonderful MOCs and stories.
  4. Another fantastic MOC from one of my favorite movies. The engines especially are masterfully done. I can definitely tell you've put a lot of "megablocks and elbows" into the scenes you've built! And you built this with storage for the APC??
  5. Amazing work! The elemental is wonderfully crafted, though I imagine it was very frustrating to build!
  6. Thanks for the comments! Krono111, I agree. I'm not entirely satisfied with the rocks, especially the right hand mountainside. I think my poor lighting and photography makes the rock look much smoother than it might actually be but, (for instance, the rocks are entirely dark blue grey but in my photos it looks like light bley, which doesn't help) but yeah it could use some refining. I would have loved to snot the whole mountains, but considering the size of this thing my SNOT expertise was way too limited! And it is too heavy AND too big for me to haul alone, but I will take your suggestion and slide a board under it!
  7. Like someone mentioned above, the perspective is fantastic. Very nice and pretty build!
  8. My latest project (which further evidences my inability to imagine good MOC titles), The Crater of Doom. Despite the presence of LOTR minifigs, this is meant to be a build outside that universe. Since finding this board I've been intrigued by the stories, MOCs, and characters being developed in the Historica forums. This MOC, as well as a couple others I'm working on, are hopefully going to be my entry into one of the guilds (shooting for Nocturnus, obviously ) Had a hard time getting decent photos of this MOC because I found out this morning that I could not lift it by myself so I couldn't get it to my makeshift photo studio. Once I can get it moved I'll post some better pics, especially of the interior of the structure and some of the caves running through the mountains. Any suggestions on taking photos of black MOCs is certainly appreciated! Anyways, I'm definitely glad to get it done. Hope y'all enjoy, and of course any comments or criticisms are welcome! (I've got a few more pics on my flickr page, https://www.flickr.c...s/94545380@N06/ ) Update: The lava lake was looking a little empty so I've added this skeletal dragon type critter being summoned from the fiery depths: Crater9 crater1 (Main) by MassEditor, on Flickr crater2 by MassEditor, on Flickr crater3 by MassEditor, on Flickr crater5 by MassEditor, on Flickr crater7 by MassEditor, on Flickr crater4 by MassEditor, on Flickr
  9. Man, I love this scene! Excellent design for the roof!
  10. Incredible work for a first timer! Look forward to what you'll build in the future!
  11. Wonderful detail, thanks for sharing! Great technique with the tire!
  12. This is so incredible and realistic, I almost thought I was looking at a photo of a castle! You present a very nice solution to the big grey wall syndrome. The tower and bridge section is very beautiful. Awesome job!
  13. Gorgeous and not sparing even the slightest attention to detail. Such a great build, I would love to see this as an official set. Great photography too! I have to imagine the complexity of this MOC could make it very frustrating but very entertaining build.
  14. Wonderful story and MOC! So much detail and eye candy, very nice! Very ingenious idea with the scroll maps, too!
  15. Very cool, so much detail! Again, the symmetry is fantastic for two separate builders.
  16. Awesome job recreating this unforgettable scene! My wife, who otherwise has little time for anything Lego related but is a giant Highlander fan, loved it too! Now we're talking about watching the movie... And we look forward to more pics!
  17. Very nice! So much detail, this is great! The wig-wom is excellently done and the trees are really grand.
  18. Wow an honor indeed! Also, I love giving hope! Thanks for the blog YYS4U!
  19. Sleek and elegant, this is definitely going to turn out a beautiful ship. Those cannons are top-notch too. As far as the decking goes, have you considered using tiles? Especially in brown or dark brown the tiles really clean up the deck and enhance the look of everything on it, too.
  20. Such an awesome scene. The statue and river really are superb!
  21. Hey everyone! The community here seems really close so I thought I'd take a second to introduce myself. I recently stumbled across Eurobricks after developing an interest in Lego ship building. I was looking for some ideas to... "borrow"... and boom, I find Eurobricks and a collection of the most amazing builders on the planet. I've been out of the dark ages for a few years now but this is the first time I've actually joined a Lego community outside of Flickr and my (very small) LUG. Honestly, my passion for Legos is centered around landscaping and the castle themes, but after seeing the incredible ships built by this forum's members, I've been inspired to join the party (you can see a few of my recent mocs here: http://www.flickr.co...s/94545380@N06/). I definitely look forward to seeing the wonderful stuff you guys are working on, and sharing some of mine from time to time!
  22. Yes! I do it at least once a year! Go to the store of your choice (the bigger the better), usually a few months before Christmas (I always go in October) and look for the sweaty, overworked floor manager trying to squeeze in the store's Christmas toy layout plans. Simply walk him or her over to the Lego section and ask what the store would take for a buggy or two full of sets. This works best at a Walmart clearance aisle since the sets are already marked off and, because they're in the clearance aisle, the story obviously wants to get rid of them. Now, you have to go in there willing to spend $500+ if you really want a solid deal. Last year was the best I ever did, scoring well over $2K in Legos for a measly $600 from the Walmart clearance aisle. Sure, many of the sets were of themes I care nothing for, but I did walk out with several dozen LOTR sets. The rest I sold on Bricklink, where I've about made my $600 back. Every time I do this, I get a hand shake from the manager and feel like I've really done them a favor. Of course, I'm sure there are many in the community who would frown on this practice. But c'mon, Legos aren't cheap, and would you rather see those wonderful sets in the dirty hands of some kid?
  23. I don't know what to say... I'm honestly not sure whether I'm more impressed with this stunning build or your commitment to finishing it. Absolutely amazing!
  24. I love the color scheme on this ship. Very striking! I might have to "borrow" that middle lamp design too... Great improvisation on the hull too!
  25. I appreciate the feedback guys! Here is an early build photo of the hull (if I tried to do this now, it would probably fall apart ). I think the snot slopes give a very nice curve to the hull. The problem I had was matching it with the standard build of the bow. In this photo especially it's a very ugly match up. I've got some ideas however to smooth the curves a little more that I want to try on my next ship.
