Now, that is one pretty caravel! Really like the lines and colors. Those black vertical 'stripes' add a lot flavor, as do the sails. And the rigging looks very well done, too! Seems you're becoming a small ship expert Do you have a link to that story you were referring to? Thanks for sharing! Hope you manage to finish your topsail schooner soon, as well. Best regards, KB

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Kolonialbeamter replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Plus, it's a working title, resembling that of the GoH, intended for people to have an idea of 'what to talk about'. Hehe, a fleet of crocodiles... that screems for a MOC! -
Your amazing creations surely have inspired a lot of people here, but your influence exceeds Historica's borders by far! The entire Eurobricks community is loosing one of its best builders. I too, can only hope this is temporary. Thank you for years of excellence! Take care, especially since all of you in neutral Switzerland have guns under your beds... Oh, wait, that's a reason for the rest of the world to be afraid! 'Cause it is as a wise man once said 'With enemies you know where they stand but with neutrals? Who knows!' The world should live in fear... Farewell!

This is one fantastic vessel! Sorry I only 'discovered' it today. I basically grew up with a 1:35 wooden scale model of the Santa Maria (or better: one of her depictions) made by my grandfather... Always wanted to replicate it with Lego. Your version surely is great inspiration! Love everything about it. Really sorry for your loss, your dad would definitely have loved this magnificent ship!

[MOC] Spanish (custom) ship "El Principito"
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hehe, please excuse my ignorance... I had just recently seen this kind of torso in some China-set... but still, huge shame on me! And about late posting... well, let's say I'm not the youngest anymore... getting online takes me some time- 11 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Kolonialbeamter replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Exactly, and not to forget the entire age of discovery offers so much building-, story-, adventure-potential... both historical and fictional. Yeah, and of course all the 'monkey-business' that needs to be dealt with... -
[LEGO IDEAS] Skull Cove: Redbeard's Return
Kolonialbeamter replied to glenbricker's topic in Pirate MOCs
Haha, today it's easy, I just agree with The_Cook! Well done MOC, love the design, the classic feeling... But as a set... if you succeed, it will be altered significantly. Best of luck and success for your long endeavor anyway, it's a great creation that surely deserves to be recognized! KB -
Nice effects! Especially love the light and the atmosphere in the second picture. Well done! Keep them pics coming! Best regards, KB

That's even worse news than I thought, really sorry to hear that... However unfortunate, when looking ahead I totally agree with what The_Cook said. This is a community project, something that could bring people closer together, let's pull this off - now more than ever! After all, this is the Pirate forum... Let's show them they made a mistake!

[MOC] Goblin Pirates (79010 Alt Build)
Kolonialbeamter replied to BrickterScale's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great creation for an alternative build! It's got everything a ship requires... plus a massive captain! Now, if you found a way to invert those slopes at the sides (SNOT-ing them or whatever), it'd be spectacular! Thanks for sharing, keep it up!- 5 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Kolonialbeamter replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome, BossFight! Great to see a long time lurker step into action, hope to see some of your MOCs soon. The GoH truly is a magnificent creation, if a Pirate equivalent could inspire and attract builders here remotely the way the GoH did with castle fans, that'd be a major win! I hope the Pirate community is up for the challenge. Oh, there's a couple of active members doing the planning on the whole thing in a private subforum. But unfortunately no news lately. Maybe you are right, work/school getting in the way surely is a reason for delay. However, I do hope for this project to start sooner. We don't need a new Pirate line for this to start. What we need is dedication. And after all, GoH's members are churning out MOCs no matter the season. -
Nice, friend-ish friendly scenes! And the 'Queer Anne's Revenge' making port... Pretty ship, btw, the more pink and purple you added the better she got. Love the idea! Thanks for sharing!

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Kolonialbeamter replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
... been wondering that same thing. Let us know if you need anything! Now, where's that Martini icon when you need it... hmm, but then that would need to be 'shaken, not stirred!'... I'm drifting off. Bottom line: Yeah! Go Sebeus! -
[MOC] Spanish (custom) ship "El Principito"
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hi Captain, let me ketch up on some commenting... First thing to mention: Yes! Monkey's back!! Now, rather unusual to use such small pieces for a hull... but not bad, your ships looks rather fast that way, but could use a second sail. Kudos on the color scheme, nice Armada-esque design! Do they ever not have to deal with nutshells? Oh, and I much like your 'pool', wish I could replicate that in LDD... Just... that figure head's torso... is that some sort of devilish china-brand brick? Can't wait for that storyline! Thanks for posting, especially in these 'dry' times! Regards, KB- 11 replies

When I saw it, this automatically sprang to my mind: Nice little vignette, using wedges and slopes makes for a pretty decent beach! And the poor pirate's face really reflects his despair... classic pirates' nightmare... well done!

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Kolonialbeamter replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
*carefully raises voice* I don't want to come off as a pain in the neck... but is there really no news at all for this ambitious project? No status to share? I know you all are heavily loaded with responsibilities here on Eurobricks, some even play major roles in running GoH (which itself must be tough work!)... I'm not criticising, I'm admiring your dedication! Please just tell us what 'the rest of us' can contribute to make this work (if there is anything)! If it is personal you need, please ask! Any word on this would be better than no word at all. Thanks in advance. -
Ahoy, I haven't posted anything in a while... and it won't be anything useful today... However, in a spate of nostalgia I was browsing through my LDD data the other day... and stumbled across one of my earliest digital ships. By now it's almost three years old, I remember having started it shortly after I found this fantastic forum here. It's from a time when I had barely any clue about sailing ships, their design and features, and CGH's divine tutorial hadn't crossed my path. (click pics for HR) Yeah, it's dorky, not well porportioned, surely no eye candy... but still when I think back, there's techniques and features in this that I still use today... weird... so to say it's the 'common ancestor' of all my later ships. So, I think it should have a place here. Thanks for watching and enduring my nostalgia attack Feel free to criticise! KB

Thank you Lomis for making these. I think it was The Cook who mentioned the target age for the new line is lower than for the 2009 wave. Well, looks like today's kids will have more firepower than their older siblings. But eventually all will be decided by crocodile vs. frogs... Go frogs! By the way, one should wonder if adding frogs to a Bluecoat set is a statement of some kind...

L'Impérial - First Rate Ship of the Line
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks a lot! Actually, it's funny you bumped this thread today, 'cause after a long time at sea protecting the realm, Impérial has just arrived at the drydocks for a major structural update of her lower hull (I hope noone is using her absence for actions against the crown). The sails - same as the flags - would not work IRL, they are placeholders, 'just for show', apply gravity and they'd fall appart. The rigging on the other hand can be build this way (but it would get rather expensive), as Captain Braunsfeld recently demonstrated on HMS Jupiter. Thanks for your interest, best regards, KB- 26 replies

I'm afraid a thread like this doesn't exist... maybe, cause there's no such demand... or cause it's a piratey world out there... May I ask what piece count you have in mind, so what your budget is for this project? Regards, KB
-
Seems you made your own Futurama... just without blackjack and hookers Great piece of art - this, Sir, made my day!
-
Oh, what a cutie, well done! Kudos on the rigging, looks good! And the sky is a really nice addition. If their destination bares any relation to the name... well, it's gonna be a hell of a journey... luckily you teamed up a crew of fearsome professionals... except maybe for the one with the obvious drinking problem... oh my... So, in a nutshell to sum up it's a beautiful little nutshell ship. It just lacks one very important feature - again!! Oh, and that rear sail is incorrect A nice weekend to you, too, Captain! KB

Hehe... no, nothing to worry there... I'd start worrying if she wanted to live in the woods with a fellowship of vigilantes... but hopefully you have some more years before that wish comes up... and to be honest it wouldn't have to be a bad thing per se... About that dress/pants issue... isn't she wearing a dress? To me it looks like one, or some sort of robe. Thing with LEGO 'dresses' is the utterly inflexible slope piece. I like the solution TLC has come up with (if they purposefully put a thought into this), minifig legs could represent a pair of tights or whatnot. So she'd be wearing a dress but still be able to fight in LEGO terms. On topic: I agree to declaring him some sort of NCO. And since he sticks out, he might become a playable personal hero for many kids.
