  1. Hi Matthias, all the MOC related indices (ships, land MOCs, etc.) and threads can still be found by checking the 'Master Index' (as can this one). Purpose of the 'Long Standing Topics' index is to help find those die hard discussion topics that come up every now and then, that can enrich everyone's pirate wisdom, and thus should be 'focused' in their respective thread instead of having them spread over a confusingly vast number of new threads. A sticky post would be nice imo, but I don't (yet) know the policy on this (which is probably to keep those things to an absolute minimum). Best regards, KB
  2. Hi there, I'm raising this thread from the two-digits-pages' depths (<-- repeat this five times in a row! ), 'cause during my recent nostalgia trip to back to childhood a stumbled accross old Lego catalogues and brought the most important with me. So, here goes, scanned pirate content from the 1989 (which I didn't even know I owned) and 1990 German big catalogues. With my username I just needed them represented here Click images for high-res. versions! Especially this one might not be known to many (?)... I was sure to remember that scene but didn't find it in any scans I managed to dig up online... almost got me crazy. Hmm... just watching these epic scenes back in the days... hours of my life well invested. I can't count the number of times I replayed them with my collection... And on top I still know the set descriptions by heart... There's all catalogues with classic pirates content in nostalgia-land, plus some other stuff, including the Lego Idea Book of that time. I'll get more material on my next trip. In the meantime, whoever else has (unknown) scans, feel free to share! And now, another round of nostalgia comments, please!
  3. CB, don't worry too much. Eslandola will be alright for you... and all the monkeys at your command! So if you want troopers with morions, just figure them as your own militia, that values tradition! Generally speaking, Eslandola's gonna be a rather liberal and diverse place, you moc up what you feel like and think it 'feels' eslandolian, and add the proper flag! This of course goes for all factions, just take example in GoH. Flexibility is key! Just look at GoH. Great minifigs, btw!! What the Master says. Don't get too fixed on colors! Sure, they have to 'feel' right, but that doesn't make certain factions possess certain colors. Building style and the focus you like best are more 'important', but also not limiting. Eslandola for example will be profit oriented. Why fight if you can trade? Rather enjoy the good life. But when push comes to shove, they will fight, with battleships and armies. And they will field all kinds of militia, so you can experiment with 'neutral' torsos, and add arms and legs in colors you deem right (as Capt Wolf did in an above post). So if you like them pink, have them pink (but be sure they would be laughed at on the battlefields... and elsewhere!)
  4. Ha, classic pirate Homer! That's exactly what I did after this promotion... and the reason I only had a phone on me those last days... Thanks, mate! Oh no, you don't! You better stay and build! *whipcrack* 'Cause if too many people here leave, we'll have to introduce a weekly building quota for everyone. And if you don't comply with it and leave anyway, we'll find you!
  5. Thanks a lot all of you Sorry for my late reply, last couple of days I only had my phone on me which was not much help dealing with the tasks of my new position... And now, lots of work ahead. Arrrhhhhh! Keelhaul those that dare speak of less! Thank you everyone I hope I'll be able to do my share to keep this boat ship all ahead full. Thanks, 2maxwell. Ha, I kind of didn't at all Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words, they mean a lot. Great to see another long time lurker step into action! I also lurked these waters for quite some years before finally signing up (just couldn't come up with a proper name all this time ). Welcome, Captain Dee! Ha, that's giving me way too much credit. But thanks anyway Oh, yes, sure I know the 'vocabulary' around here: port: delicious beverage and one main source of piratey inspiration, starboard: a coffee bar franchise or something, wheatherdeck: the latest addition to the Captain's Cabin to get some healthy tanning, yes, and the masts are placed by the mods and bosses to have maximum control of everything and everyone!
  6. Arrhhh... Congrats Captain Braunsfeld! A very well deserved promotion since you held this forum steady during the dark winter ages. Extra rum for you it has to be! Best regards, KB May the monkeys be with you.
  7. Funniest tutorial ever This needs to be indexed right away! You forgot one major character in that presentation, though... Where's Stacey?! And don't say she took the pictures, I'm not falling for that again!
  8. Doug for the win! Those faces are priceless Good job, Sir!
  9. It catches on! Let the blue flow through you! Gooooood! Hmm... is there no way to somehow 'hide' that handle under deck to have it stick out at the stern for just the right length? 'Cause that's a real awesome part to serve as a lantern!
  10. Rumor has it there could be a 'fleshies only' policy installed in BoBS for the sake of more realism!
  11. Finally! I thought this day would never come! Oh, the joy!!
  12. Yes... but in a very sophisticated, and not at all childish manner
  13. Silly redcoats, indeed! Shame, that comic was so promising... But probably won't be necessary any longer, so there's a 'Hurray!' to that. Done!
  14. Interesting discussion. I agree with you, Captain Fortune, sets used to be of more 'aesthetic value' (from a model builder's perspective). I would go as far as to make this a generalisation. It's interesting to see this changed over the years/decades... sometimes it fills my heart with some nostalgia (Eldorado Fortress, BSB )... The last pirate set I consider 'beautiful' was the exclusive 2010's Imperial Flagship. Well, things change, and I must I like TLG's general focus on minifigs these days/years. Seems a lesson learned from the Star-Wars franchise... minifigs are a major cash cow. Btw, I need more new bluecoats!! However, I would really like to see what designers today could do if tasked with releasing a new (exclusive) Eldorado Fortress...
  15. Looking good! Been playing with that water for fun every once in a while. Is more content to follow soon? And where will you position Classic Pirates' in regard to Eurobricks, meaning what will its concept be? *Excited!*
  16. Wow, thanks for that list, Skipper! Never knew that second fort. This is a lot of inspiration.
  17. Well done, Ragnar, and welcome to these shores! Lots of detail at a very small scale, congrats. I'm especially fond of that anchor However, I think a ship of this 'size' needs at least a second mast. Keep it up!
  18. Looking better and better Once rigged, she'll be a masterpiece! Kudos on the side galleries. Question, how well do the latticed windows fit into these 2x3 frames? Did you have to cut them like you did on 'Pinnacle'? Oh, and the water looks like it demanded a significant deal of patience. Can we expect more pics now or only when finished? Good luck for the final stage!
  19. Makes ridiculous threats! - Actually, it was a 'Phreat'... and it backfired... Now there's some kind of 'bronze-level' bounty on my head here... Given - I very strongly guess - by Phred.
  20. Dang! Didn't see that one coming... You win... this time!
  21. The one with hair looks a bit like Louie made his comeback... Hey, what about bicornes? Anyway, rain protection is a must have.
  22. Hey, must have overlooked this cutie. But that's rather easy given its size. Well done, maybe the next design could be a bit slimmer? Anyway, where is your 'Captain' rowing to? Mitgardia? Eslandola? And why is he so happy? +1 for the water idea. Keep them MOCs coming! Best regards
  23. Nice little fort, well executed, good choice of colors. Improvement suggestions: Your fort needs a door. And your artillery should cover more of the surrounding than just one direction. Remember, the Blues will exploit every weakness ... oh, maybe I shouldn't be telling you this, then... If you choose to further expand this fort, which I can only recommend 'cause it has a lot of potential, your next step could be to add some sort of a tower building. Brick on!
  24. Now, one week of Phred I.'s regency, and the forum is blossoming again... coincidence? Those who affirm shall be keelhauled! (Phred, please don't 'affirm' this yourself, it would render my threat ridiculous! )
