  1. Hi there, well, it depends on what you want... if original set instructions are a good enough basis for you, Dr_Spock has the thing for you. If instead it's instructions for MOCs you're looking for... well, that's a different thing... they usually don't exist... and even if they do, giving away a creation is... difficult. If you're willing to invest cold cash, you might want to check eBay or the like, sometimes there are models for sale. Bricklink now has a MOC-shop, but I don't know if there's ships out there... Question: Do you use or know how to use LDD?
  2. Splendid rework! Had this set as a TFOL, you improved it a lot but kept all the original features! Switching the officer's with the pirate's outfit is a bit confusing, though, but true to the original in terms of color Great job, Keep it up! KB
  3. Hi Captain, what a wonderful creation, a 'serious attempt' finished seriously successful! The mix of accurate model ship building and your own comic-like style elements... I'm a huge fan, and this ship is marvelous! Your main battery guns... thanks for showing a detailed how-to, I never would have considered that part (I might 'borrow' that design now ), I do like the rigging as well, tip: if you happen to have tons of this part or something comparable like this here for example, your sailors would have something to stand on... I tried this in LDD but it's most annoying to add, might work out better 'in the brick' Oh, and thanks for adding the monkey in the last pics, it was indeed missing! Congrats on a beauiful vessel and Brick on! KB
  4. Wow! New Bluecoats! That's what I wanted to see! Hmm... it's been a while and my LDD-skills are a bit rusty, but in order to celebrate this new line I quickly made a new flag: Should be obvious that I like that new flag... Alright, what to say to those new sets... (note: I'm talking here through my Bluecoat-tinted glasses ) Looking at the pictures at first I was hugely disappointed. Just a few sets, looking like a one-wave installment, half hearted designs, one ship only, nothing comparable to 6276... I also was a bit confused about the 'reintroduction' of the color Royal Blue, for I had assumed a shift to Dark Blue... But on a second look I really like these sets! Times have changed, and it would be unfair to compare them to those sets of the early 90s. It's not going to be a major line, maybe just a placeholder until the next POTC-sets, just 'to have something on the shelves'. But taking this into consideration, these sets are nice. They are well balanced in terms of parts assortment, Bluecoats-Pirates minifigs ratio (there're THREE soldiers with 'The Brick Bounty'- Yeah!), so playability is high, the accessoires are must-haves (new flags, torsos, bandanas!). OK, the gold seems to be missing... well, I got plenty of that ('preciousssss' ). But most of all I like that this line is merely a decent makeover, what's going to make it easy to implement the old-style Bluecoats line (In shame I have to admit I was prepared to sell my old Bluecoat army in favor of a new line... but no more)!! My favorite sets are 'Shipwreck Defense' (to me an even better army builder set than the 2009 'Cannon Battle', since it includes great ship building material as well as some rock-work parts, a cannon with proper wheels and two muskets) and 'Soldiers Outpost' (lovely little island, a big flag would have made it superb). About 'The Brick Bounty'... well... I much like the shape of it, it doesn't look as cartoonish as 'Brickbeard's Bounty', plus it comes with three soldiers... and there's that 2x3 window, more precisely that sticker on it... does anyone of you know if that window-pattern already exists?? I must has diz! OMG, seems, I have to get myself a pirate ship! The female soldier aka. 'Governor's Daughter'... I like the idea! As for Medium Blue (?)... will see, maybe even good for a regular uniform? Oh, and about the 'missing' Soldiers' ship... it might not be anything, but on the box of 'The Brick Bounty' there's a little ship in the background, and it's clearly a three-masted one... fingers crossed for 2016, mateys! So, to sum up: Thanks TLC for making these!
  5. Congratulations on a very fine vessel. Great work! Regards, KB
  6. Falling troops seems to be a thing these days... Very nice work, the jungle feeling is dense. Keep it up! Regards, KB
  7. Most impressive! I'm actually speechless...
  8. Hi there, as CB stated the idea is to use a picture hosting site, such as flickr or brickshelf. Here's a recent flickr tutorial, this is a how-to regarding brickshelf. Hope this helps. And welcome to EB. Regards, KB
  9. Excellent ideas in this! Love the rock work and the temple facade. And the atmosphere of the outpost is really dense, like it a lot! Keep it up! Regards, KB
  10. Oh no! That's bad news... Sorry, dude. But try to keep in mind unfortunate events also contain a chance for something new. And judging by your skills, it'll be something even better! Chin up! KB
  11. Great rockwork, same for the beach, and the characters, and... and... and... ! Looks like the pirates have the high ground. More of it, please! Regards, KB
  12. Nice work, full of refreshing design ideas! Monkey is a force not to be messed with... Keep it up! Regards KB
  13. Haha, 'Kiss the dog'!?! Only in Austria... I want a cup of rum so badly now... and cake, I want cake! Well done, Captain! Regards, KB PS. What are your plans for the harbor?
  14. I must admit I'm not really convinced by using tiles for a ship's structure. Sure, for the looks it's the equivalent of a planked hull. And what Maydayartist did with 'Revenge' is outstanding. But as soon as you have to deal with the bow (respectively the transition from bow to broadside), you'll get in trouble, if you don't want to stick to a prefab hull element but still have a relatively simple/sturdy design. 'Persephone' is a reference for such a simple yet realistic bow. And that you can achieve a planking look by simply using bricks (if not intense enough, use long plates). So far I haven't found any bow design that betters CGH's tutorial's (hinge plates based) approach in terms of versatility, flexibility and whatnot... Anyway, here's an example using a tiled hull for you, a little old, too complicated in my eyes, but maybe it can give you some ideas. Looking at that ship it gives me the wanting to try an update... Looking forward to what you come up with, Regards, KB
  15. Lightsabers falling from the sky... pew pew pew.

  16. Indeed, great MOC and even more so for a first post. Impressive landscaping and scenery. The water looks great and I really like the bridges (are those bars in any way attached or simply loose?). I think I want to live there Brick on! Regards KB
  17. Hehe, these are fun, well done. The one on the left looks like Homer Simpson (except for the absence of a belly... and a donut). Oh, and the treasure chest is a nice idea. Thanks for posting, keep it up! Regards KB
  18. Truely an amazing ship she turned out to be The amount of details, your choice of colors, your sails... simply stunning! And your presentation is so very well done, especially that first picture... splendid! Chapeau on an outstanding job. Regards, KB
  19. Hi, quite an ambitious project you've got here. I think I spot prefab hull elements, one tip first: get rid of them! A first rate ship of the line on prefabs will end up looking at least very high, see for example Vengeur. Ok, now to your problem, at first you should consider that going for a minifig illusion scale model, your ship will be distorted, at least in length and width. Because of this you cannot use the same inclination for the beakhead as you see on pictures of the real Victory (or any scale model), it has to be shorter and more adapted to the type of hull you're using. That being said, here are two examples (LXF-file) I used on Sans Pareil (which I build with HMS Victory as an example) and a recent version of Impérial, one snotted, the other a mix. But if I were you I'd build up the bow first, only then deal with the beakhead/bowsprit, shaping it according to what looks best in relation to the ship as a whole, not trying to apply a fixed angle. Another thing, keep in mind that a pattern of two studs gun port, two studs spacing might make your broadside look too crowded, a standard for minifig illusion scale models is to use four studs for spacing. And your entry ports seem to be too big, they should not take more space than the equivalent of one gun port (plus the ornamentation). Hope this doesn't sound discouraging, it certainly is only meant to help you with this enormous undertaking. Best of luck, brick on and hope to see more soon. Regards, KB
  20. Hi, Yeah, that's some firepower, well done, especially considering the short build time! I like the overall shape, the stern and side galleries are well built (they remind me of the HMS Prince of Wales). I think, however, you could improve her a lot by reworking the color scheme. As a suggestion leave the broadsides tan (change the line between the prefab hull and the lower gun deck to black, though), but use some popping colors (like yellow, red, blue) for the bow (headrails) and stern (windows, decoration). In addition I think you should also adjust the gunport pattern by going for a regular cross pattern, and reducing the space between two gunports to four studs. Here's a quick MS-Paint 'mastered' impression of what that could look like: The green gunport (matching your existing one) marks the starting point, then it's four studs spacing - two studs gunport (applying this pattern would require you using 1x1 and 1x3 tan bricks on the lower gun deck and the quarter deck). Neat little side effect would be to increase your ship's broadside firepower to 28 guns. Not that I would feel concerned, for I consider myself part of those 10% Anyway, great to see another ship of the line, yours is a very fine one, keep it up! Regards, KB
  21. Ahoy Captain, I like it, it's colorful and equipped with a lot play features. That fearless lookout boy is just fabulous Don't know what Poseidon classifies for, but that doesn't matter in my eyes, as long as your kids honor your creation by playing with it Well done, Regards, KB
  22. Hi, nice idea. Additions to what you've already got in mind depend on how big a harbor and village/town you are aiming at. I suggest: a harbor master's office, some houses, simple in design and interior, a storing facility/ store house(s), a blacksmith, a small shipyard, a market place. Out of ideas at the moment... This diorama made by Matthias could be inspirational. Looking forward to what you come up with. Regards, KB
  23. Wow, this official lore must have gone past me, I had no idea, whatsoever. But it's nice to know, especially that Blue- and Redcoats are in fact the same faction! *trembles* What revelation! Imagine, there could have been peace all along, understanding, no retributions, families wouldn't have had to split up, friendships to be ruined... All this happened because of a mere misunderstanding of the ancient scripts... Or is this a conspiracy? I feel this has a nasty touch of Redcoat propaganda to it... That must be it! So forget what I said, the feud is back on! But seriously, thanks, TC, for posting this information and the map in the first place.
  24. She's coming together quite nicely, thanks for the update. In particular I really like your way of combining the NextGen stern with the floor 'tiles' in the captain's cabin. However, I'm still troubled by her stern. I don't know about your reference material, and maybe it's just the way you want it to be, but check out this picture (sorry, it's all I could come up with on the spot). You can see a top-view on the left side showing that the ship's widest point is at its waist, whereas Matterhorn's seems to be further back at the side galleries. I think if you changed that by say narrowing the stern galleries' two studs per side and reshaping Matterhorn's aft section accordingly, you'd end up with a more dynamic look. Just an idea for a project that will become awesome either way. Brick on! Regards, KB
  25. Decent little Islander creation you've got there. Hope to see more MOC-goodness soon. And in case you're still looking for a way to upload and post pictures, you might find this discussion helpful, providing opinions about several picture hosting sites, and links to tutorials. Oh, and welcome to EB Regards, KB
