  1. Hi there, Here you go, along with some great story telling by Napoleon53 (klick map for link to thread): And notice this one as well, posted by TalonCard (klick is link): You've just got to love the Ironram These are the ones I'm aware of. Best regards KB
  2. Haha, it seems a mild comic breeze is coming... This one rocks! Hilarious, it was hard to stop laughing at some point. Your humble home... with a twist, niiiiice. 'Wow, Sebeus.' Love it! Oh, I promise it wasn't me having my eyes closed. But I see several visitors who had one eye closed... Hmm... I too wonder what's in that cup, but being a Beamter it's probably coffee... and rum, definitely rum. Maybe just rum. Yes. Thanks for making this, and letting me be part of it. Hope making these comics catches on! Best regards KB
  3. Bazinga, indeed! Ahh, the beauty, I think I even prefer her over Farore's Wind, what I find hard to say, 'cause I'm a real fan of that ship. But the Beatrix is simply splendid! Her colors and lines are a pleasure to look at, and the white hull and sails make her look like a white knight cutting through the waves bringing Bluecoat rule to whoever is foolish enough to oppose it. I don't mind the rigging not being the best anyone has ever come up with, or a lack of detail on the inside. This ship is just too much eye candy for me to care about that, especially the stern, great choice to change the yellow lines to dark red The rest is - as usual - Sebeus' quality ship building, very well done!! And your sister did a great job as well photoshoping the background, adds a lot of atmosphere to your presentation, chapeau! And regarding the last two pictures I can't help but go BATTLESHIP BATTLESHIP BATTLESHIP!!! Oh, and yeah, get rid of those prefabs Rule Bluecoatia, Bluecoatia rule the waves!
  4. This is so funny, really had to laugh hard. Exactly my kind of humor. Best... pirate comic... ever! I still don't know what scene to like best, you handling AC's pastry cravings is hilarious, the name of the port... splendid! Life vests... NO WAY! Thanks for letting me join that maiden voyage, quite a joyride! The Beatrix turned out marvelous. Oh, and that town looks strangely intriguing... so Blue... Hope to see more of it real soon... Great work!
  5. Excellent idea for a MOC, after all, someone's got to deal with all this uncivilized pirate scum... or wrongfully accused, innocent victim of Redcoat injustice? That statue on the wall looks nice, and I really like your placing of minifigs, seems there's folk with all kinds of agendas present. Intense! Looking forward to seeing more of you (and your brother), keep it up!
  6. Hi there, first off, I find it good news you are still working on this ship, thought it was to become another abandoned project. So thumbs up! That being said, I think you should rework the bow. I know, you don't really want to, but a smoother bow could really give her a much nicer face. And if I'm not mistaken, you've already incorporated some hinge plates, so why not use them (and more) to form something à la this forum's standard way of bow shaping, it works well on all kinds of ship types (ranging from Brigs to First Rates), and it's relatively uncomplicated to build. And I'd add some head rails, for example by - again - using hinge plates (like on Persephone). Apart from that, she's looking quite alright, a little rough, but using jumper plates to shape the tumblehome isn't the worst idea So I think she'll be a fine ship, looking forward to further updates. Keep it up!
  7. It's good to hear you're back on tracks, and the project is developing. Regarding sub-leader positions I think you won't have problems finding dedicated people here. If you need anything let us know. And thank you for answering, every communicated bit of information is better than to be left 'alone' with too many question marks. Even if it'd be only to say it'll take a bit longer. Really looking forward to this, hoping it won't be long now after the end of the Guilds' Challenge II.
  8. Your harbor rules! I really like this atmospheric composition of classic Lego pirates' design and colors, playful and funny features, as well as historic elements. And you're mixing fleshies with yellow minifigs, not bad. The sky in the background is also a nice touch. Well done!! One question, though. How do you handle your kids' 'urge to play' with your creations? I mean, you seem to work together, so do you allow it, or are your creations just for display once finished? Do you even have a say in this? And are you then allowed to tear a MOC down in order to build something new? The joys of a 'Lego family'. Again, great harbor, judging by the WIP title I hope you'll expand it, soon. Keep it up! Regards
  9. Nice MOD, especially since you've only used parts of 6242 Like Matthias, it also reminds me of 6263, but I liked that set Looking forward to see something like this as a medium set for the next pirate wave. Good work, keep it up!
  10. It's an update, nonetheless. And that frontal view is just gorgeous, I really like how the beakhead turned out, and her lines... Best of success for your exams! Regards
  11. Quite an armada, already! I like that you are using all kinds of different techniques and approaches Long term progress guaranteed! Keep it up!
  12. Wow! I'm a bit ashamed I never noticed about your ship before That being said, I can only encourage you to persue building her as a two decker, for I think she's a beauty, and turning her into a frigate would be a waste of both time and work you've put into this project over the last years. Sure, this being minifig-illusion-scale makes a vessel look a little narrow and small in relation to a crew of minifigs, but those are issues that come with the use of prefabs, so even frigates are 'too small'. I think she's not TOO narrow, and by very far doesn't look odd. If you check one of my first ships, Vengeur, THAT is too narrow... You've come a long way, the tumblehome you've applied looks nice, and your side galleries are very well shaped. And in the end, there are always ways to make her appear wider than she is, lower her where you can, steepen the tumblehome a little from midship on astern, if you are concerned for the quarter deck and poop deck to become too narrow, make the yards just a tad longer... 'squeeze' her a little. You could instead also simply get rid of those prefabs and brick build your own hull to widen her as you please. Or make her a 'hybrid', à la Imperial Shipyards' NextGen technique, or 'the other way around' as I used to do. But please, keep her as a two decker, you can always build a frigate later. Thanks for sharing your progress, keep us updated! Good luck and brick on!
  13. You definitely should. Nice work, especially the snoty rocks and the foliage. Plates for water makes it look a bit crisp. Like it. Regards
  14. Cool cool cool idea! Next project pillow fort? Six seasons and a movie!
  15. Gigantic! Good luck on finishing her! One question, though: Is there any way to convince you to post a WIP shot as a teaser before completion? Regards
  16. That's real pretty. So much atmosphere on such a small surface (raised base plates not dead!). Like your roof work and use of colors a lot. Looks playful Good work! Regards
  17. Thank you for your interest. Piece count at the moment (without the sails) is around 7500. I estimate in her final state she'll be at over nine thousand. As for instructions, I'm not going to make any, LDD is just really pointless about this. However, once finished I am going to share this project with you in some way. Originally this ship was meant to work as a base for a hull tutorial based on the massive use of curved slopes. But it took me several attempts to come up with a design a liked, and I realised, there is not the one way to do that. In fact, almost every time I restarted a part over a certain design problem, I ended up solving it another way. So why have a fixed tutorial. Instead I'm a bit betting on the 'Pirates Guilds', maybe there could be something like a Shipyard Program, a central place to share and discuss building techniques... we will see. If, however, someone really wants to build this ship the way I build it because reasons, PM me, we'll find an accord.
  18. Always a fan of a good fort, and yours is great. All these small details, your use of colors, the scenery... I really like it a lot. Makes me want to travel to Wiesbaden to see it in real. The ship could use a little work with the masts and sails, but that's just nitpicking I can only politely suggest to keep building 'Pirates', please please please! Best regards
  19. Thank you for your supportive comments and for following this project. I think she's nearing completion, although there's barely any interior, yet. But to further distinguish her as a French vessel, I got rid of the upper gun ports. Furthermore I worked around the stern a bit more, and put most guns in place, which took quite some time... But the most annoying part was (as always) the rigging, it can take up to five minutes to get it right - per string Oh, and I'm afraid bunny ears are gone. Here's what she looks like now. Those of you who'd like to see a brick version, I'll have to disappoint. I don't plan on building her, and although she seems to turn out better than I expected, to me she's 'only' a test ship concerning some hull techniques. Next project will be better (I hope) Thanks for watching.
  20. I like it. Especially the arches at the stern, nice Hope I'm not mistaken to see Sebeus' broadside technique? If so, it shows once more that it is a well working solution on ships like yours. However, taking pictures of a red ship on a red carpet... might not have been the best choice ... and I'm afraid your steroid-loaded triple guns could damage the figure head once firing viciously. But maybe that's only due to perspective in the pictures. Anyway, good work! Keep it up!
  21. Thank you. Hmm, I was afraid someone would 'go bunnies'... Persephone definitely is a reference, but in my case rather for details, the hull techniques differ quite a lot. Great ship, I can't emphasize this enough! I'm trying to go for a french ship design, thanks for noticing. But just a little, some elements that I find easy to apply. However, since I'm not (yet) working with any construction plans, there are elements I use from all kinds of designs, making the ship rather generic, but I'm trying to go that way. Next step is to maybe get rid of the upper gundeck's gun ports. Thank you for the link you've provided. More material is always appreciated. I see your points, Looking at this picture here: I think I might have gone a bit mad with curving astern However, it's also the tumblehome... vertical curving should be pronounced a bit more... and the bow could be a bit pointier... I think a part of the impression of the stern being too small is due to the scale. If this is to be considered minifig illusion scale, then it's roughly 2/3 minifig scale, in length and width. But not in height, minifigs can be posed on the gundecks. So this adds up to some sort of distortion. One can always imagine the stern to be a bit wider... But she's definitely curved inwards too much... Hmm, not really sure I'm brave enough to change all that, as she was supposed to be just a 'quick build'. The better ship is always the next one... Again, thank you for your input, it's very much appreciated! Best Regards
  22. Quite nice so far. It seems, Sebeus unintentionally started some kind of naval arms race... For the stern I'm with Captain Braunsfeld, techniques are more or less standard, just check around for inspiration, you'll get a feeling for it. For the rest, is there a reason for having so little fire power? Usually four studs in between cannons are enough. More guns are always better! And I also suggest to move the mainmast a little bit backwards, say 2-4 studs, depending on your stern design. Looking forward for more! Regards
  23. Thanks. Unfortunately, I have no idea what you mean by bow spear The mast, maybe (bowsprit)? Anyway, here's more to (hopefully) be liked. I completed the hull, except for some small bits, changed a few things about the overall design, and so on. Unfortunately, now that the structure based on hinge plates proved to be working well from a technical point, it's kind of hard to motivate myself to finish her up completely anytime soon. I still have no idea about a concept of modularity, she is surely not swooshable, lacks any interior planking and at least some level of detail. But those side galleries begin to grow on me... Oh, and before you ask, the figure head is definitely up for debate! Thanks for watching, C&C most welcome.
  24. This is truly spectacular! Such level of detail, some pictures in your flickr stream really blew me off my feet. I'm especially fond of your wall design with all those various decorations, holes, and whatnot. And when you say there's more to come! Great work, looking forward for more. Best regards
  25. I agree with Admiral Croissant. And maybe she won't be the most massive ship around, but she still looks sharp as a blade and very very fast. A born hunter. Good luck with the final stage! Regards
