Hi kabel, she's coming along pretty decently, hope you can get together all the necessary parts. In case you should encounter some difficulties with these grates, as Sebeus mentioned, here's something that I used on some of my new ships. It's not complicated to build and quite adaptive. Hope to see your schooner finished real soon! And of course, bon courage with that rigging Best regards, KB

[LDD MOC] Primo Victoria - 20 gun xebec
Kolonialbeamter replied to Dunkleosteus's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hi there, Mr. Master Shipwright, Master of Virtual Plastic, The Holy Trinity of Xebecs! You've outdone yourself here... once again The lines... the colors... Your creations always are the essence of shape and seaborne grace, and this one truly is no less than spectacular. Why noone has awarded you with at least an 'LDD Builder' tag remains a mystery to me... Your hardest job will once be to choose one ship to build in the brick I humbly bow before you, always an admirer of your work. Now go and raid some coastal regions! Best regards, KB -
Comic: The Curse of the Simian God (Part 3)
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hi Captain, I agree with Matthias, may this comic have a hundred parts! Can't wait for the monkey business the two are up to. Really like your jungle vegetation. But please tell me that poor croc just acted dead I find your comics to always be a highlight around here. Oh, and of course: 'Go, Alfredo!' Keep'em coming! Best belated regards, KB- 5 replies

Hi Nori, thank you for a very well written and photographed review of a neat little set. Two thumbs up! Best regards Edit: Voted it 'Outstanding', 'cause I think it's the best pirates' part pack TLG has ever come up with.

Hello everyone, I'm sitting on a couple of large lxf-files that I'd like to create a single rendered image of. More specifically, I created a baseplate that I saved as one file, then continued to create a building (so in relation those two should be 'in place', if that matters) that I saved as another file. Each is around 37.000 bricks, so there's no way to consider the import game... Question now is, is it possible to use LDD2POV-Ray and POV-Ray to create a single rendered image of the two parts combined? And if so, could somebody explain to me, how? I remember reading something about merging them by copy/pasting the POV-Ray scene data... I just have no idea how that works. Another thing I stumbled upon was this idea by bbqqq. Any help on this would be very much appreciated :) Best regards

Wow! Thanks, mate, for the find! Looking good, figures resemble the classics a lot... and, hey, that opening mechanism is sweet. Prices in Euro are... bearable. Anyone notice the THREE masted ship in the background (same as on the box of 'The Brick Bounty')? And it's got its 'last' mast right on top of the captain's cabin... just like on the old CC... If talking remake, this could be the highlight. Probably just dreaming here... Thanks again for finding and posting

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not really a fan of providing complete data on a MOC, what might or might not change over time. Instead I'd much prefer to see a shipbuilding techniques thread aka. a 'Shipyard' program established, if possible along with the 'Pirates' Guilds' project (maybe featuring elements à la GoH's 'University of Patraea's Doctorate Program'), where people could present their solutions and ways of building ships, questions be answered, discussions discussed, and so on... Any thoughts on that? Until then, If you happen to have specific questions regarding a design feature or such, feel free to ask!

'Improvise'... that's understatement Those are great small caliber guns, I'm especially fond of the wheels you've come up with. Hmm, what hull could that be... Wow, and yet another narrow hull ship! Busy shipyards, you've got there! Excellent! Best of success for your builds! Regards, KB

Nice ship! I like your custum hull, the sails look good, too, and that Star Wars critter is a nice touch. Additional 'Yeah!' for it being a digital model. Now, seems that for ship sizes medium is the new black... Haha, can't believe I get to ask this: any plans to build a real brick version? Keep it up! Regards, KB

Are you sure this is not better dedicated a Bluecoat ship?! Kidding, of course. I really like the overall shape of your ship, especially the different ways of sloping the tumblehome, great work here! The modularity is a very nice feature, along with the not so usual SNOTed way of planking the deck And those guns are splendid! I agree with Captain Braunsfeld though, a little bit of a highlight color (gold or yellow) for some stern elements (and maybe even for headrails at the bow) would be a nice touch. And decently applied that wouldn't turn your ship into another 'rainbow'. Congrats on a very nice ship, looks capital, although being based on the small prefabs. That's something not so easily achievable. Brick on! Oh, can you tell us anything about your very big ship? Best regards, KB

Hmm... must have slipped my eyes... shame on me. But we can count on those rear views, can we not? Oh and btw... glad you survived 'Nocturnus'!

[MOC] Probably 6265 Sabre Island Revisited
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Definitely looking forward to this. And of course, thanks for the additional pics, that opening waterfall is a gem! Brick on and on and on! -
If I may (hope it's OK to post this): You can find more amazing pics and even a video here.

... and again EPIC!

Thanks again, Lomis, especially for the comparison of the two ships. That helps a lot (really looking forward to 70413 now)

L'Impérial - First Rate Ship of the Line
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Pirate MOCs
The monkey! Huge shame on me... I promise to include one in the next version. There you go, 'next version'... The thing I found out by building digitally is that I never manage to finish a MOC... there's always something to improve or change (so far surely no difference to any of you using real bricks), but since it's so convenient to do MOCs turn into something more like 'forever WIP'. I think at some point in time I'll just have to start using real bricks... But not too soon, 'cause I already have ideas for another, rather large structural update - this time concerning the segmentation of the upper hull à la this here. Also 'winter is coming', means there's gonna be a lot of time for monkey business Thanks, CB, for the monkey reminder and the triple praise.- 26 replies

Holy moly! This is at least one of the best pirate displays ever! If I started listing things that I think are outstanding, I'd never stop... so instead I will tell you what I don't like so much: There's not enough pictures There's so much to learn from this. Great work you two!!

Nice looking pirate ship there, I especially like the skulls at the bow. For the masts... what you could try is to use those rigging pieces for stabilization by tightly attaching them to the hull in some way. For transport, however, I suggest detaching them. BTW, here's a name suggestion: 'The Skull Bounty' (don't take it seriously, though)

L'Impérial - First Rate Ship of the Line
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hi mateys, Impérial has finished her overhaul and returned to guard duty off coast. This update might at first not even be visible, but in fact it's quite a major change in design... Well, at least considering the lower hull. Its larger part is now made of hinge bricks instead of curved slopes, combined with creating more hull segments to gain a much more detailed and realistic curving gradient. I'm quite pleased with this technique and sure it would work 'in the brick'. But enough words, here's some material: (click pics for HR) Hope you enjoy! KB- 26 replies

[MOC] USS Poseidon - Minifig Scale First Rate Ship of the Line
Kolonialbeamter replied to shiplover's topic in Pirate MOCs
I guess you could even line up every LEGO pirate ship and one broadside would still be enough to finish them all off at once. Great progress! Good luck with the final 'bits'! -
[MOC] Monkeys and Pirate(s) (MOC, OPMOCs, etc)
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
'Monkey Index' Well done, Captain, great new monkey and great collection, hadn't even seen some of these. Hope the 'Monkey Fever' catches on! -
Lack of parts is a frustrating restriction for mocing... so saying 'add more details' won't help at all. I hope, however, that your brick supply situation will improve for you, sure you'll do better then! I like the minifig placement, looks like action, and those 'random' pieces along the wall add a nice touch. Keep it up! Regards, KB

[MOC] Probably 6265 Sabre Island Revisited
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow! Great fortress, indeed! I don't even know what to start with... Classic feel, yet realistic, it's got a lot a charm... the rockwork is very well done and those tiny transparent slopes give a nice looking wave effect... I love the idea of artillery in casemats, and that entrance portal fits the fort's style really well... and as always, great choice of colors. I like it a lot! I like the all of it a lot! Just one thing: Is the fort in distress, or why is that flag upside down? Oh, and yet another thing: Do you have more pics of the sublevel? Great work there, CB, was wondering what your next creation was gonna be Keep them MOCs coming! Best regards, KB
