Hi mateys, long time no sea see, ok, I promise this is my last ship this month. It's also my sixth FB this month, so if you like her, I'd much appreciate your approval Now, since it's still winter, please prepare for the lamest pun this season: Let there be... Snow! The 'Zephyr' is a trading vessel like many to be found sailing the seas crewed and commanded by proud Oleanders. She is in her best years and far travelled, having sovereignly mastered the challenging conditions of the Merlonic Sea as well as those of the Great Northern Ocean. Although not the fastest, she is nonetheless a versatile vessel, spacy and reliable. All of these attributes make her famous especially among merchants from Oleon's northern provinces, such as Bothnia, who foremost need save transportation of the huge amounts of agricultural goods growing in these fertile lands. The 'Zephyr' is named after the God of the Western Winds, the gentlest wind, worshipped as the messenger of spring. It's a wisely chosen, fitting name, as she, too, brings fertility and growth along to her ports of destination. Now her new home is the Sea of Storms. May the 'Zephyr' also master these waters and bring prosperity to wherever she drops anchor. Here, again, next to the ever-so-puny IFS Last, but not least, the God of the Western Winds himself, well, as a figure head about: Now, the 'Zephyr' might not be a fast ship, but her construction sure had to be speed boat ship build, as I only had yesterday and today to build her from scratch. Ok, after more than 15h of construction time I copied most of the sails from another ship, as making new ones would have cost me another day I think. Also, sorry if there's not a lot of details around, I would have added more crew members, but time was of the essence. Anyway, with this ship I was going for a rather plain looking workhorse. Nothing fancy, not very fast, simply a cargo ship that looks reliable, one that will get 'things done'. I tried to go with as little tumblehome as I could stand, a dull prow and no sleek hull. Might not sound like a difficult undertaking. But building her wasn't 'gentle' at all, rather one of those builds where no angle worked out right, I constantly had to adjust, and the paintjob was a huge pain. Well, now she's finished, and I'm growing quite fond of the design. Not my best work, but also not bad. Thanks for enduring my dreadful vessels this month! C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

I think there has to be a formal limit. Otherwise over time more and more limits could become matter of judgement. And the matter of quality is already something that concerns me with some builds, so I would oppose adding another human factor into the 'handing out' of DB. Also, it would be way more micro management required to work out members' monthly DB yield from FB.

I had the same question stuck in my head, where is that box?!? Well, I just submitted the form 'normaly', hoping whoever is in charge is able to compute that the first registered small business is meant to make use of the free license. Fingers crossed!

Speeeeeeeeeed! Yes, that looks like it. Her colors make her appear dangerous, as well. Her crew will take care of everything else. Good job I approve -

Great idea! Cool camera and nice furniture. I'm just a bit worried for your wellbeing considering the huge rat on your desk Monkey will be helpful, though -

Simple and effective. Crew looks determined. A small flag would make a nice addition. Good hunting fishing! -

Wow, a mine-to-be! Very convincing depiction of the ongoing work. That sextant... measuring device whatstheterm on the left is very cool, I might steal that. Nice story also. Is there an inside joke somewhere, as Bregir hinted at? I love inside jokes. I'd love to be part of one someday! Love this build, once licensed a mine would greatly contribute to Oleon's economy.- 10 replies

[OL -CH2A] Pride of Poseidon
Kolonialbeamter replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great one, Captain Genaro! Lovely vessel, instant awwwwwwhhhhhh I, too, love the color scheme, dark red - black - gold/yellow. Good mix. Will try that out also. Good job on the hull, but the true eyecandy is the sails and rigging. Regarding your goal, in my eyes you passed with distinction! She will make a fine addition to the ever growing Oleander Navy Haha, the notorious question of definition. Several levels of debate possible. Please correct me if I'm wrong: By a definition focussing on the purpose of the vessel the term 'sloop (of war)' was considered everything not being a rated vessel, hence a 'ship', and this is a military vessel, so the 'Pride of Poseidon' is a 'sloop (of war)'. Mast- and sailplan wise, so by a definition focussing on construction, I would also call her a cutter, since her mast is placed pretty much central.- 14 replies

[Feature-Build] Prepare to be Amortised!
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hähä, thanks guys, this build was most fun! I even consider it one of my favorite builds ever. The 'Tax Hog'! You, Sir, had me rofling hard But aaaaarrrrhhhhh, you're also missing the point: These aren't 'threats', they are 'promises'! Much appreciated, CD, very much appreciated! Don't be mistaken by 'The Hog's' color. Using red was merely a necessity. Not more than a tool. Just like you Corries are- 14 replies

Ahoy once more, laddies! True to my credo 'A ship a day keeps the Corry away' I am honored to present to you the pride of the Oleander trading fleet, the Class 5F schooner 'La Recouvrance'. Also, this is my fifth FB this month (my fingers are bleeding), so should you like her, I'd appreciate your approval This latest ship in Oleon's Merchant Navy was build in the 'Royal Shipyards' head facilities in Quilbignon, planned and supervised by Master Engineer Maurice chevalier de Col. To be even more precise, she was laid down and build in record speed in the larger of the two 'Pontaniou' basins on Quilbignon's western banks, and named after the quarter itself. Her proud name is the ultimate expression of the confidence Recouvrance's shipwrights put into their own abilities of crafting masterful vessels. May she live up to this promise and may she serve King and Nation to her full potential! With a hull length of 94 studs 'La Recouvrance' is not only Oleon's largest trading vessel, but her sleek hull, low center of gravity, and three gaff rigged masts also make her the fastest of all ships in the Sea of Storms. These attributes in combination with a crew composed of only the most dedicated and experienced sailors will hopefully favor the voyages that lie ahead. May there be many to come! Here's a comparison shot, you can see her putting the puny IFS to shame About this ship: I tried to make her paint scheme simmilar to that of the 'Revenant', kind of a 'corporate design' idea, which I might continue. So no fancy colors. I'm very pleased with her shape to be honest. It was a tough job designing her this low, since I had to manage hiding all the connections under deck, pretty hard considering the curvature. I'm especially fond of the way the stern turned out, along with the overhang (good you can build it without knowing the nautical term for it), which I tried for the first time. As always, she's buildable and would be stable enough, although she'd not be swooshable, 'cause of her size. The masts would be delicate, but - with internal flex tubes and proper (real) rigging - could be supported. Oh, and placing the water was more than a pain - but worth it. Thanks for watching. As always, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

Nice one, Dr_Spock! I hope we Oleanders don't encounter her in a... cog fight For real, I like that you managed to keep her this flat, even cramming a cabin into a prefab, 'hight-wise'. Very cool! The colors make for nice contrasts without being overwhelming. Also very cool! The coolest, however, is the captain: 'History of pirating shiny round plates.' I'd be no trustworthy source for commenting on your sail plan, as I seemingly never manage to get my own sails right All in all, a good job well done! Good luck in the contest!

[OL - FB4] 'Amphitrite's Lily'
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks, guys, your support is very much appreciated! Some might. Lucky for me you don't, eh? Oh, and be careful with what you wish for Yo, Alter, I'm bäck! Outrageous defamation! Lucky for you the Most Noble King is in good mood. This is turning into a pattern -
Hi guys, this feature is both a contribution to the ongoing tax debate, and a reply to a remark Garmadon made in the 'Introduction Thread' about my title The Army of Colonial Minions is back! And this time they have gone financial, turning into every Sea Rat's worst nightmare. These guys have come up with a diabolic device to collect tax payments: They literally suck the hard earned Doubloons right out of your pockets! As I said, that strange dude on the 'Amphitrite's Lily' should not have been encouraged! Well, during the recent ship constructions I got a little carried away... The piggy bank is the official set #40155, the rest is 'Nonesense by KB'TM pending I hope you enjoy this little feature, it's not a Freebuild, just meant to amuse you. Or scare the living hell out of you. So remember kids, paying tax is for the Greater Good... and your own. C&C welcome!

[OL - FB4] 'Amphitrite's Lily'
Kolonialbeamter replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks. Yes, it is a relic. Maybe her secret is that the bottom of the sea just doesn't want such old vessels. You know, personal pride and such Welcome Oh, nooooooooo. Now you've encouraged him! Look what you've done! -
Awwwhh. This is so pretty, it makes me want to live there. Unfortunately, it's Red territory But it reminds me of the lavender fields that cover Oleon's south also, so there's that. Cannot have Corries claim lavender. Sacre Bleu! Now, this is such a marvelous creation, it just 'feels' totally right, colors, shapes, landscaping, details. Love it! Here's my approval

[Cor - Feb FB3] The Crossed Swords Tavern
Kolonialbeamter replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
What's up with all the taverns here today? Have you Corries captured a rum runner lately? Now, I like this bar. And in fact I do like the idea with the prefabs for a roof. Also fits the early settlement idea well, as you mentioned. To smoothen the transition between the 'studs-up' walls and the 'studs-down' roof I suggest to simply use tiles on both sides. A roof constructed 'stud-down' also has the advantage that you can easily decorate the ceiling and add a chandelier (here another ship's wheel along with some candles could add even more flavor), for example. Good job! I approve -
First things first: Congrats on your citizenship Now... pay taxes! But you're doing that by eventually licensing this establishment, if I understood the ongoing tax discussion correctly. So, good job on your civic duties! Now brick talk. I like your bar a lot! Clean build, good choice of colors, fits Mike's Amalia Street style perfectly. Had this the chance to be approved, I would do so with delight However, to me it seems to be a rather noble establishment, not a shady bar. To achieve that, you could 'crack' some floor tiles, have more irregularities in the build, and 'dirty up' the place. And maybe add a brawl. But, as I said, great job on this one, keep it up!
