  1. Don't ask for leaks. @Paperballpark: don't encourage leaks. The website of zusammengebaut gives a lot of details without violating TLG terms.
  2. It is difficult to detect colors between the tracks when driving a little faster. My students did a proof of concept some years ago. NFC works well though, although I did a Proof of concept where the reader was under the tracks, not in the train. Putting it in the train might work even better since I think.
  3. You found a way to generate energy for free?! I don't think that is going to work alas.
  4. They do exist of course in different sets including the Santa Fe.
  5. Welcome to EB! Enjoy it here! What is that smell?! You must like the monsters series too then.
  6. You could have dropped @LEGO Train 12 Volts a PM of course, don't revive (very) old threads unless you have a very good reason (but in this case you just said a thank you). Often it is better to show your use of such an application and link to the old topic (to start hopefully a fresh discussion).
  7. Haha ;) Thanks for the pun.
  8. Welcome to Eurobricks! And a stunning work as a first appearance! Hope you enjoy it here at EB and Train Tech and we look forward to see more of your creations!
  9. Great job Murdoch, you did it again! Very much in the My Own Train style!
  10. And after almost 40 years we get a new train set with a yellow hard hat! I remember them being so costly and rare that they costed € 15+ only for a yellow helmet (I know they were rereleased in sets beginning the Toy Story Dump truck but still nice to see them again in a train set).
  11. You probably want to sell current train sets / other sets as long as possible and not let people keep from buying the sets, knowing that they will soon be replaced.
  12. @3797: They do read the fora, you don't see staff conversations in our backend that includes discussion with TLG employees. But I don't think that the community representatives of LEGO have the power to fire set designers. Apart from that I asked everyone politely to behave and I find your post not a good example of good behavior. You can voice your opinion but shouting that certain people should be fired? Come on, what if we would shout that about your job for some reason? Maybe he should get an internship in both a railway company and a primary school to better connect with both audiences, that would have been an more polite suggestion don't you think? That is a very good suggestion. Hope they will make it compatible in some way though since it will have a large impact I guess. Also for schools e.g. participating in the FLL and train fans that have a lot of PF laying around. We have a lot of PF stuff both from my trains and my wife's technic sets.
  13. Guys and maybe even some gals, discussing the upcoming trains and maybe change in PF is of course very fine, but please keep some things in mind: - there is a good reason why TLG does not want us to post confidential images - don't brag about confidential knowledge even if it might be genuine - there are some fora like reddit that seem to have an other policy but they don't have a direct link to TLG I guess. I haven't had any complaints from TLG yet, but wouldn't it be great if TLG would allow us to do an early review of the new train sets, so don't jeopardize that possibility.
  14. Very nice church Lasse (again)! Haha not a lot of people mourning Jack Stone?! Another family build or?
  15. Maybe they will take over some product like SBricks?! You never know.
  16. Hi Sim Sim, welcome to Eurobricks. It is fine to promote your ideas including "LEGO ideas" at Eurobricks but we would hope you did not join to promote your LEGO idea. Apart from that you can read in the other topics that getting a train like structure approved in LEGO ideas is virtually impossible. We have seen very, very nice LEGO ideas trains / trams / metros / monorails, but none made it past 10.000. This should of course not discourage you and your son: it is a neat idea and even if LEGO ideas does not get approved you can enjoy sharing and getting even better ideas. Why don't you give a full expose of all the details in here? We can think along and give tips etc as fellow train lovers to you and your son! I like to coloring. Of course a lot of us would like to see the sliding door mechanism. I did one myself in a Union Pacific mail car for the "mail catcher".
  17. Bruce, welcome to Eurobricks and also good to see you try to add to topics but a topic from 2013? B.t.w. you should consider the Ackermann principle of steering too (that makes the outside wheel turn at a different angle than the inside front wheel).
  18. Hi icemorons. Welcome to Eurobricks. Please don't kick very old topic. You can discuss this in the 2018 train topic.
  19. What @Robert8 said. This is how at least LEGO Designers explain it. The amount of colors is one of the factors they take into account when targeting a certain age. More colors make it easier to read the instructions and thus are targeting younger agegroups.
  20. Very nice! Also to see this kind of 'mini-modular'.
  21. @peterab But they could partially circumvent this by making them 'exclusives'. Then they don't take a lot of space in regular toy shops, they can be sold through LEGO.com and the LEGO brand stores. That is also what they more or less what they did with the EN and Maersk of course.
  22. See brickvergnugen his idea in the 2018 topic! Wow, really nice color. Hope we have enough of the dark blue bricks already. Anyway, this would also mean that I would also produce the portholes in Dark Blue for myself anyways. The others are 3,50 per four so not that expensive I think :).
  23. You can use standard IR LED's of around 940 NM. https://www.hackster.io/philipp-henkel/lego-power-functions-ir-sender-for-micro-bit-aecc10 http://www.internetoflego.com/lego-train-automation-ir-power-functions-with-nodejs-and-lirc/
  24. @Aaron, I could make them for you (of course). You SF looks very nice Eric!
  25. Really nice Paperinik, I always liked the 7750 but this brings it to a much more realistic level while keeping the gray 12V/4.5 era look and feel as well.
