    That would be much more than you need for LDD. This is some kind of game-machine that a lot of gamers would dream about Of course, I don't know what other things you want to do with your pc, but this is good enough for LDD for sure. You would be able to handle quite some big files with that

    I have a black box version, anyone knows if there's any difference (except for the packaging )? It seems the yellow box version is more common, almost all reviews I've seen had a yellow box...

    Thanks again Sergio, for this update! I can't try it out now (sadly), because I will dismantle my whole pc tomorrow to insert a new motherboard to be able to use my new ssd. I will also clean install Windows 8, so hopefully I can try it somwhere next week. It works on Windows 8, I hope? About images: you need the direct link to the image and use the image button in the editor to add the image. This is a bit tricky when using DropBox: you must find the "Download" button somwhere and instead of clicking it, you right-click it and select somwthing like "copy link adres" (the text depends on your browser). The image with the nxt is too large according to the EB rules, so I only added the small image.

    The 9395 is a nice set to have. I don't know what pf parts you have, but the instruction manual also has a few pages that show you how to build in your own pf parts (or they say you need 8293). Take a look at page 39 of the instructions to see what I'm talking about That's also something to consider, so you can see how they use the pf in a real set

    That LPub "bug" looks indeed very annoying. I've never encountered it myself, luckily Did anyone tried the solution that first came into my mind: place 1 brick far away from the model, so the center of the image would change? I don't know if it will work, and of course it creates other challenges, such as removing that brick from the parts lists, remove the brick when it's not needed anymore to reset the center, make sure the brick is not visible etc.

    First off, I don't think it's neccesary to start thinking about the whole LPub styles. Let's first make the steps But, I think it's best to keep it at A4 size, so someone who wants to print it, can print it. Instead, we should change the scale of the bigger steps.

    I use a laptop or tablet when using non-printed instructions.

    Well, I almost finished building and stepping the back. I had to add a few more parts and I had to export all the submodels and import them in mlcad to make a correct mpd that Lpub can recognize as submodels (I work with SR3D Builder Groups, which LPub sadly can't read...). There's only 1 problem. I've bought a new ssd (Samsung 840 EVO 500gb). My plan was to put it in my machine next weekend, because I also have to put in my other motherboard which has SATA-III. And, alongside that, I wanted to start clean on my ssd and install a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 (currently I use Windows 7, so that would be a big step...). But... the damn thing suddenly didn't want to start up this morning. My first reaction: My second reaction: damn it, it fails 1 week to early I think I can fix it, but I didn't really have time today, so, I can't really finish it at the moment. I'll try to finish it this week, so I have it ready before I go of the radar on saturday

    Yea, that's quite annoying. I've got a blurry picture about it on my old Brickshelf. It's so furstrating when using the (too) short version and a bush doesn't fit very nice

    I was just thinking about it, if it would really make a difference. Maybe building again is even easier, but I don't really have any experience at all, stepping an already built file...

    About the gear meshing problem, that's always frustating Although, after a while, you will remember the most used combinations and positions, but this is one very useful tool. At the calculator you can calculate the gear ratios, at the coupler you can select the holes (make sure to choose liftarms or bricks) and it will show all possible combinations. It's made by the Technic Guide book author btw

    They load normally on my pc (LDview and SR3D Builder) so the parts should be somewhere on here. That means they should also be somewhere in the official parts or in the unofficial parts collection. They have LDraw number 973P7V.dat. If you can't find them anywhere, I can send the .dat file to you

    :laugh: Have you ever seen how many pf wires this thing has? Although, it's almost a must to include them in the instructions, since there are special routes to place them in the very compact chassis...

    Well, concerning looks vs functions, I always like: as many functions as possible while maintaining good looks. Of course, a very mechinal revolutionairy thing will be cool too, doesn't matter how it looks. I think it's becuase most of the functions are already very common these days and most peopl would like to get an extra challenge, so people put all these common functions in a model while making it look as realistic as possible. About the suspension, I think it's just for the sake of perfectness. And, it is fun to try out all kinds of different suspensions and see how they work. As you say, it doesn't really matter in some cases, although there are some types of suspension and some use cases where it really makes a difference which one you use.

    You can also use Rebrickable to find out in which sets the parts are hiding. On the page you see how much you have and what you're missing, there's a big button "Find parts to build"

    Well, I can understand why you're so annoyed, but personally I don't really mind. I enjoy building a digital model But, Blakbird, I suppose you haven't stepped it?

    Maybe the cpu is overheating? Laptops generally don't have a big cpu cooler (and they don't have a good airflow). Do you immediately restart after the crash? If so, the overheating cpu would be very unlikely, since it doesn't cool down in a few seconds.

    Congratulations everyone! :thumbup: There were a lot of great entries and it was difficult to choose. Anyone else noticed that the winner of last year had built a insect and this year's winner has made some insects too? If you want to win next contest: make an insect!

    I don't know for sure, but maybe your laptop ran out of RAM. How much RAM does it have? Some devices will crash when they run out of memory. Because the RAM is full, it will start overwriting other data which causes it to crash. You can maybe enlarge the virtual ram and try if it would make any difference. If not, the ram probably isn't a problem. It's just a thought, I'm not sure

    Well, it looks quite good and you really captured the basic lines of a car, even on this scale. Good job The only thing I think would be nice, is a little more cover on the hood.

    Yep, at the moment. I can remember something like a spirograph or something like that.... I'm working on the back including the tailgate.
