  1. I can't see anything wrong with the instructions. Granted, the barely different sides can be confusing, but the instructions are correct: On page 61, the submodel without dishes is placed on the side with the hinge of the trapdoor. On page 62, the submodel with dishes is placed on the site with the black technic piece; opposite to the hinge. On page 66 step 17, the submodel with dishes is still opposite to the hinge. On page 66 step 18, the submodel with dishes is still opposite to the hinge, but the view of the model has rotated to the other side. I think the most error-prone page is page 60. If you place the submodel (from page 59) wrong, everything thereafter will be wrong too. I never noticed that page 60 is not very clear Hope that clears things up a bit
  2. Do you have display scaling on something else than 100%? Settings > System > Display > Scale If it's not at 100% (e.g. 150%) try setting it to 100% and see if LDD works fine. I doubt that's causing the problem, but you never know. Some programs are known to have difficulties with something other than 100%.
  3. Cool! Is there a tutorial/manual/guide somewhere on how to use the addon/script?
  4. So... the rules state: Does anyone know if that also includes other digital software such as LDraw or stud.io? EDIT: I found some extra info in the 'legal section: So, I guess that includes LDraw right?
  5. Or just put 2 black tiles on top of it (a 1x2 and a 1x3) Or is that not allowed cause it aren't Technic pieces?
  6. No idea, it probably has to do with some kind of cache or something. Have you tried waiting a little while (something like 24 hours) to see if the old images still appear? No offense, but I think you'd be better of just switching to another image-hosting. Something like Bricksafe for example, or Flickr, Imgur, Dropbox, whatever suits your needs. Brickshelf is so outdated and has quite a lot of outages. I personally (honestly) think it's quite a miracle that the site is still functioning and kept online, haha.
  7. Well, maybe I have a unpopular opinion here, but I personally think the HoF is kinda useless and just creates a separation between the 'pro builders' and the new builders on a forum like this. But hey, many people seem to like it, so whatever. I don't mind, I just don't use it at all
  8. Well, there is LPub3D, which is quite popular (I use it a lot too). The workflow is a bit different than LDD+Blueprint, but the goal is the same.
  9. I asked the developer, he says no. Or at least, he said it would be an awful lot of work (understandable)
  10. Not happy with the looks!? It has a damn smiley! What more do you want? In all seriousness, it looks really great so far. Both from a purely aesthetic viewpoint and a technical viewpoint (still can't believe you crammed so much in there).
  11. I know you can import LDraw into Blender. But I've shortly tried the Mecabricks workflow of rendering a Mecabricks model and it's all-inclusive. Colors, textures, quality (and I have a feeling Mecabricks' parts are better for rendering than LDraw parts). Everything's set. It's almost a matter of pressing export and off you go. But your renders look really great too. I would personally be really interested in a LDraw -> Blender rendering tutorial. And probably not just me. Especially since this forum's go-to guide for rendering with POV-Ray made by @C3POwen is missing its images (and C3POwen hasn't been online for ages) it would be nice to have a new guide. Thanks for the link though, I thought this was the only one: https://github.com/le717/LDR-Importer Well, that's quite a difference: 10 minutes vs 4 hours haha. What gpu do you have?
  12. Oh cool, gpu rendering too? Might have to try that out, see how it performs. Haha
  13. Would it be a lot of work to make an LDraw compatible version?
  14. Wow @Scrubs! That looks really, really nice! Are you sure it's a render? I was considering buying one of those new 8-core/16-thread AMD Ryzen cpus, I suppose that would benefit the rendering process (at least, I assume Blender has good multi-core support). If only there was an LDraw import so I could render my models... Maybe @SylvainLS could adapt his program to import LDraw into LDD so that it could then be imported in Mecabricks?
  15. Well, with this program it seems to work quite well. Or am I missing something? Of course, not all parts in LDD are available in LDraw, but aside from that exporting seems to work relatively well.
  16. Yeah, the 10030 is really a display piece. Your ISD is some kind of hybrid between a beautiful display piece with all kinds of details out- and inside and an amazing playset with a full interior and a bunch of functions and features. The minifig scale on the inside doesn't fit the outside scale at all though (obviously). Like @Theo van Vroenhoven said: it's like two models in one. Man. So many people building multiple ones and here I am, having not even built a single one (well, not with real bricks anyway)
  17. Haha, whoops! Totally missed that one Nice work though!
  18. Cool! I don't use LDD myself, but there's some kind of grouping functionality right? Would it be possible to export those groups as submodels too? I can imagine that that might be useful for people.
  19. Uhm... And what if it would be closer to around 15K? Still a good thing? Holy shit! That thing is huge! Cool to see though that your AT-AT seems to be a perfect fit for basically everyone apparently.
  20. I was wondering. LDCad saves the file with the fully generated part (e.g. a hose), so it can be viewed in other LDraw based programs. What if this lxf2ldr program would only generate the 'ldcad meta-data' such as your bezier points and such. Would LDCad then generate the full part when the file is opened?
  21. Well, like I said, stud.io is using the LDraw parts. I don't know exactly how if you guys convert from stud.io (LDraw) to your preferred format or if Bricklink does that for you. If it's the first case, you can probably reuse pretty much most (if not all) of your import code. It's also possible to convert LDraw models to other 3D formats yourself, however the quality of the results can vary quite a bit (also depending on which software you use to make the export). I know that LDView can export to STL and 3DS formats. I believe the stl export does not contain colors though, but don't quote me on that. There's also this plugin for blender, which allows you to import LDraw models into Blender. And from there, you can export it again into a wide range of formats. A (pretty big) drawback of the plugin is that I believe it lacks support for .mpd files and pretty much all LDraw files are .mpd... Of course, you could also create your own LDraw > whatever exporter. The LDraw file format is completely documented here. It's basically lines, triangles and quads, shouldn't be that difficult (relatively speaking of course) to export to another 3d format. I'm not really experience with LDD, so I can't give you any advice on exporting LDD to another 3D format. However, LDD is quite closed as opposed to LDraw so I don't think there are many options (if any at all). You can always export LDD to LDraw (make sure to use an updated ldraw.xml file), but LDD does contain quite a lot of parts (mostly minifigure parts) that don't exist in LDraw. LDD has a native LDraw export, but yesterday someone on the forum here released this handy tool too. Btw, you might also be interested in Mecabricks, if you have not yet heard of it. It's a completely browser-based editor (and it has its own viewer too ). Their viewer is also being used on sites like Brickset, for example here (click on the tab '3D View'). It's not based on LDD or LDraw though, it's a completely separate format.
  22. Nice work! I'll add it to the forum index (which is probably maybe kinda outdated...) How do you create the parts in LDraw? LSynth style, LDCad style or maybe something of your own?
  23. You're working at Sketchfab or something? Cause, if you guys made a stud.io viewer, chances are very high it would work with general LDraw models too. Stud.io uses the LDraw parts library (although sometimes slightly modified probably).
