Z-bar linkage help
jorgeopesi replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My time used in the Z-linkage is always looking for the best bucket travel in fact my two previous loaders and this one having diferent sizes they keep the same bucket position when the arm cylinders are working, I thought it was the objective of that linkage. Of course in your loader type achieve that is very difficult. -
It was at first view, I would have to see the 797 you took as a model but I feel that the angle of the back part of the bed is too pronounced and makes it seem small, it is just an opinion the truck is equally impressive and these things are only noticed by those who are continually seeing machinery.

Z-bar linkage help

I usually do the same I preffer perfect functionality above scale, the part I like more is the central part of the linkage, small changes in it makes different bucket travels. -

I never know what to say about GBCs, the idea, the development and especially the final adjustment process have to be exhausting, is the idea the most difficult part of a GBC?.

Caterpillar 990
jorgeopesi posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Like I said in this topic Z-bar linkage help, I am building another wheel loader. This time is the Caterpillar 990 which is the biggest one I can build because the bigger ones like the 992, 993 or 994 have two cylinders for the bucket and it would be impossible keep the width in scale. It uses the Class tyres and in the beginning it had to be manual but I have so many room that I am thinking on a complete pneumatic RC loader. I hope you like the WIP process every advice is wellcome. I am trying wheels, should I have to buy the yellow ones?.- 59 replies

Z-bar linkage help
jorgeopesi replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, I thought exactly what you have written but the problem is that I am not smart enough to go further... , the program would be useful but I preffer the real mode. I know that brickshelf page and of course will be perfect to build a stronger arm, as I am building a specific wheel loader I always try to do its real linkages. After some hours of test I get this, I have to build a stronger arm but the travel and the movements are in scale with the real machine so the hard part is done. ç I still want to know everything about linkages so if you know something it would be a pleasure to read it. -
I am working on another wheel loader and I have again the same problem, the Z-bar linkage. In my previous loaders I solved it with hours and hours of tests to achieve the perfect travel but this time I wanted your help because I have seen a lot of pics and brochures of machines but I don´t find what I am looking for, I want the mathematical formula or whatever to be able to make arms more quickly, what allows to know the measurements and position of the different pieces depending on the size of the cylinder, arm and anchors of the bucket, it is a difficult question because even Lego wheel loaders haven´t got realistic bucket movements.

[TC10] Wheel Loader
jorgeopesi replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought about giving another opportunity to this MOC, I made some changes, I used slim cylinders, I build a stronger and better structure and thank you those things now I can be able to use 2 types of wheels, I don´t know which is better. Now I think I need two more studs between wheels to make it look better but I like doing the little things so much that I find it hard to make them big. I will use yellow at the end... ç- 86 replies

Anorher huge car and a very bad idea, wheels with pins?, I don't want to think if any breaks... but a very good business for Lego. -
