REVIEW: 71001 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10
Jargo replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The decorator isn't going to get very far using a roller without a roller paint tray. As nice as the roller handle and paint kettle are they're disastrously mis-paired.- 114 replies

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Jargo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
So for a fraction of the cost of the set buy the piece from Bricklink or Ebay. True the piece will be pricey for what it is, but it beats paying for a set you don't want just to get the piece you want. -
Removing stickers from trans-clear parts?
Jargo replied to Roger_Smith's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Alcohol will remove sticker residue. If you have any aftershave/cologne available, spray a little onto the sticker and then use a tissue to wipe the sticker glue off. the alcohol evaporates and all you need do then is rinse the piece in water. -
That's not exactly what I had in mind for the Beiberbots.... Mwuhahahahaha!!!
-
I thought August or at the earliest late July was confirmed for the UK? Also Beiberbots sounds like a great idea. It would have to be made from the male Friends minidoll though. Those things look alien.

The idea of red and orange versus blue and green is tempting as Solomon Blaze has it coming. I've been wanting to do something with Blacktron for a while, but using the CMF and Space Police Blacktron torsos. Maybe with evil robots using those new Cyborg Darth Maul legs. Perhaps I'll do that later in the year.

Oh good lord. Dumbledore in the Harry potter range is a minifigure of a gay character. So there, Lego have and will make gay characters in a way where their sexuality has ZERO bearing on the theme or play value therein. It's a non-issue.

My dog doesn't like the corners on Lego bricks. Though that doesn't stop him snuffling through the huge pile of parts on the floor when I'm building. I like to think he's helping. Annyhoo, I'm gearing up to get stuck in to my next red team vehicle. Too much stressful stuff going on in real life so I need a diversion. I've got a rough idea of what i want to achieve but as always that will change as i fiddle with pieces and connections. It'll be bigger than my Galaxy RAIDr though. Hopefully have moving parts and definitely have split off smaller vehicles. More on that as i progress. I'm trying to decide what sort of enemy my GS will be facing as I don't like the insectoids. I'm leaning towards robots but that seems too easy. What's hip with the kids these days?

Personally I'd prefer a Futurama theme to a Simpsons one if that were the way things go, as I find the Simpsons quite dull. Futurama is more visually interesting. As for the legitimacy of this; best to just wait and see I suppose. The truth will out as they say.

Lego spill temporarily closes Interstate 79!
Jargo replied to eurotrash's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ok, after a bit of googling I discovered that a tote is a sort of bag. like this. Though quite often these bags are without a fastening. Which would seem to be the sort of bag in this case. So yeah, dumbest place to put it is on the roof of a car travelling at speed. I hope the kid makes his mother suffer for her stupidity. -
I'd quite like to see Captain Britain in a Marvel set. Just as one of those odd throw-in characters. No idea what sort of set he could go in but he'd be cool to see as a minifigure.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Jargo replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Not a dream one, no. I was really just thinking aloud. However, Chima is a tale of heroic animals fighting an addiction to tainted waters and each other in some fantasy world. 'Beast Island' would be very human but with bizarre animal mutants. And what's not action about savage beasts and 'hunt or be hunted' adventure? If anything 'Beast Island' bears more resemblance to the Dino and Monster Fighters themes than to Chima. Just sayin'. -
Ideas for New Action Themes
Jargo replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The island of Doctor Moreau. The insane Doctor is making human/animal hybrids in order to create the perfect man beast. Our intrepid hero, Edward Prendick washes ashore after his yacht is destroyed in a storm. after initially taking refuge with the doctor he quickly discovers his crazy scheme and must battle man beasts and wild animals as well as the Doctor in order to survive and escape the island. Sets could include: The house and lab compound of Dr. Moreau, The jungle clearing home of the beast folk, Animal trapping equipment and cages with a truck to transport the cages, Prendick's yacht.with break apart function. Beach with dinghy to use in escaping the island, Leopard man Jungle chase with trees and vines and a waterfall. Characters: Edward Pendrick, Hero and scientist Dr. Moreau, an insane scientist Montgomery, Moreau's human assistant M'ling, a bear man servant of Moreau Leopard-Man Hyena-Swine, mortal enemy of Prendick Satyr-Man, a goat man Fox-Bear Witch, a female antagonist Sloth Creature, a child beast Dog-Man, a friend to Prendick Ape-Man, the keeper of the beast folk law and follower of Dr. Moreau Sayer of the Law, unspecified large grey beast and devout follower of Ape-Man and Moreau Now, the actual story and characters of the book are a bit gruesome and the themes are quite adult. It would be possible to water it all down to a theme where a hero washes ashore on an island populated by human/animal hybrids of various types with a mad scientist in their midst. The sets I briefly described could all still work in this idea. Jungle home of the man beasts, scientists lab compound, boats and motor vehicles, maybe an aircraft. The main draw of the theme would be the cool man beasts. Lego have shown they can do fantastic things with animals and monster minifigures in various themes so I'm positive they could create some awesome minifigures for a 'Beast Island'. Yeah, 'Beast Island' is a good name for the theme. This could be just the place to add some new animals to the selection. Like panthers and warthogs and boa constrictors and stuff. Which would please a lot of people. Jungle settings are always cool. Monsters are always cool. Crazy scientists are always cool. Eleven year old me would have killed for a 'Beast Island' Lego theme. -
Blimey. I reckon I'll have just enough spare cash this year to buy a few minifigures and nothing more. I suddenly find myself without an income. Such is life. On the plus side I'll finally lose some weight.... May have to start selling stuff though. May. I'll resist that option. I hate parting with things. In the meantime I'll have to settle for a small number of squaddies and utilise my hoard of bricks and pieces to make my own vehicles. And get to grips with LDD.

There's no stairs! Nor even a ladder. You're a wicked, wicked overlord greg3. I like your style.

I haven't seen it in years. At some point I'm going to sit down and watch all three together, then have myself lobotomised.

I won't be watching Bay's movie. As far as I'm concerned the turtles are a comic book and cartoon entity. The animated movie a few years back was as filmic as the turtles should ever get. It's a damn shame there weren't sequels. Live action turtles is just wrong. I'm looking at this theme like this: The Turtles theme is aimed at an audience that is younger than any of us posting here. I assume that Lego listen to them more than us. If the turtles stay cool with the kids then the kids will want more turtles sets. The Lego sets are after all just a promo for the show. Same as the Playmates action figures are. Though the range of action figures includes Stinkweed, Leatherhead, Metalhead and Rat king. By not including a wider variety of secondary characters Lego may lose out to Playmates.

Luckily the Dean Clough Mill are paying for it. Glad you guys like it. I'll be sure to pass on your comments. Just want to point out one thing, the odd looking basement sections are where landscaping will eventually be joined to the mill as it sits in a sort of geological trough and is banked on several sides. You can see the beginnings of contours in angled lines where the tan meets the grey.
