  1. *EDIT* I'm erring on the side of cautious scepticism as some of these sound too like stuff from the last couple of years. I'll come back and comment more when there are images from retailer catalogues floating round.
  2. Do Dooni Chaar, Anaganaga O Dheerudu and Zokkomon were made for a specific audience and don't have global appeal. Most people won't have heard of the movies or seen them so there's no surprise that they wouldn't be picked up by Lego.
  3. Probably my fault. I kind of vomited my last post with mentions of non lego topics. Sorry.
  4. Wish they'd do it in medium orange like the one in the promo art for Lego Universe. Olive green would be good too. The lilac hat in question comes from the 2013 Friends advent calender and is used as the hat on a snowman . Mystery solved
  5. Ok, just finished watching the season finale and I've seen the Casey Jones trailer. Awesome first season. Really enjoyed it. To aim toys solely at very young kids is doing the show a disservice. This show definitely deserves ongoing tie-in product. Really hope Lego can see this and don't just drop the ball. I'd rather have sets based on the toon than on the upcoming movie. The movie looks like it'll be as crappy as the last ones. The Turtles only work in comics and cartoons. Live action Turtles just suck big time. Was not expecting Casey Jones to look that young if I'm honest. Though it makes sense in the context of the show. Definitely want a minifigure of Casey. I'd also quite like a Karai and some more mutant villains and Slash and Leatherhead and Pete the pigeon. And more sewer. and TCRI headquarters and Shredders base in the church. And definitely the four Turtle carts. And stuff. Just more. The show has been commissioned for a third season. It has legs. Let it run. Let the Lego toys with the minifigures known as the turtles come in the things that are boxes for the plastic bricks for the building of the toys.
  6. I'm not interested in joining a LUG. I'm not comfortable in group environments. So I'll never attend an organised event. I'd rather just have a couple of friends who share a love of Lego and keep things small and personal. I think that given my personality, it's unlikely I'd ever be asked to become a forum regulator or moderator. Even if I was asked I'd say no. I think it would kill any enjoyment I got from forum use. I'm unlikely to ever do a set review as I rarely buy sets. I really only buy parts from pick-a-brick or the secondary market.
  7. When my Mother was going through her divorce from my Stepdad, a massive trunk full of toys went missing somewhere. My younger brother and me lost tons of stuff. Including Lego. Though I later found a large 15 litre bucket full of Lego at my Grandmothers house which was being played with by my young cousins. Obviously Lego was important enough to my Mother to rescue from the divorce losses. When my Grandmother died I reclaimed all the Lego I found at her place and now lots of Lego parts from the late 1960's, 1970's and early 1980's are happily mingled with my modern Lego. Only yesterday I put together all my classic Space and Futuron minifigures. And while sorting parts for a build I nostalgically gazed at classic space rocket thrusters and decided to use them as a nod to my youth even though I've never liked the part. Happy happy joy joy Interestingly, my Mother now has her own Lego collection. She's 70 in December.
  8. Aha! Pencil erasers tend to be the hard gritty kind. I don't know what it is they put in the rubber but it's kinda like ultra, ultra fine glass paper/polishing paper. Does using the eraser take the gloss off parts? I don't actually have any erasers here other than a Staedtler Mars Plastic draughtsman's one so can't check this out right now. Hence the questions.
  9. The image doesn't show for me. I imagine the eraser used is the kind that feels like really fine grit? Rather than a simple rubber only eraser.
  10. DAMMIT! I'm never looking at IMDB again!
  11. Whatever this theme looks like, it's unlikely to be as impressive as people imagine it to be. Licensed themes are never as impressive as people think they'll be. Having said that I'm fairly ambivalent towards this theme. I neither love nor hate The Simpsons. I guess that much like every other theme I won't buy any sets and I'll just buy any new and cool parts from Bricklink or Ebay.
  12. The Finn of The Lego Movie is voiced by a boy named Jadon Sand who did additional voices for Wreck-It Ralph. So I'm gonna guess it won't be the Finn from adventure time. Finn could be a human character or an animal (shark or fish?) or any number of bizarre things.
  13. 'We're' not calling him Stovepipe hat president, I am. You guys can call him Sexy Abe for all it matters. I forgot to check IMDB. We can add 'Uni-kitty' and 'Finn' to the list. No idea who they are but they're in the cast list so might as well.
  14. Hypothetically, I would say with the exception of TMNT Michaelangelo and the Superheroes, all the minifigs seen so far are fair game. Though new characters will likely take precedence over classic ones. As there is such a small number of classic minifigs I could see them being shoved in a set together similar to the recent TRU vintage minifigure collection. of the characters to be CMF's Michaelangelo the artist, Stovepipe hat President, Hi-Viz jacket cop, Mermaid, Elizabethan playwrite, Panda suit guy and Jogger/aerobics girl seem most likely. Possibly one of the basketball players too.The vintage minifigs could fit in the CMF line I suppose though it's not something I'd like to see happen. but it would fill up slots in the assortment with the final places possibly taken by Wild west characters. Vitruvius, Wildstyle, Emmet, Bad Cop, Lord Business, Robot cop type 1&2 and Metalbeard will undoubtedly be in regular construction sets. There's just over six months until the film premieres. And decades worth of minifigure designs that could be utilised and added in to the mix. It'll be interesting to see how things develop by the next trailer. And see if anything new or exciting is forthcoming.
  15. Yeah my intiial thoughts were that he was a guy in a suit but that seemed off. Then I thought he might have a baseball cap on. And looking at his torso and the light colour of his legs I guess he could well be the CMF Lumberjack guy? But with that ridiculously large Fabuland axe instead of the cool one he came with.
  16. *EDITED* Okie pokie. I've gone through both trailers and screenshots of the game and compiled as comprehensive a list of the minifigures from the Lego Movie world. Just for fun. I'm not saying in any way we'll be getting all of these in sets of CMF polybags. Anyhoo... Johnny Thunder Classic Wild West cavalryman Classic blue spaceman Classic castle soldier x5 Classic castle ghost Classic town chef NBA Allstars basketball player x3 CMF Gangster CMF Vampire CMF Hazmat suit guy CMF Forestman CMF Lady Liberty CMF Egyptian Queen CMF NYC Cop CMF Mermaid (redux) CMF Artist CMF Diver CMF Wrestler CMF Tribal chief CMF Magician CMF Surgeon CMF Clown CMF Crash test dummy CMF Punk rocker CMF Lizard suit guy CMF Mummy CMF Lumberjack Superman Wonder Woman Green Lantern Batman Ninjago Green Ninja TMNT Michaelangelo Misc. Cowboy x5 Farmer Stovepipe hat President Vitruvius Wildstyle Michaelangelo the artist Hi-Viz jacket cop/security Elizabethan playwrite Jogger/Aerobics girl Panda suit guy Lord Business Bad cop Robot cop type 1 Robot cop type 2 Metalbeard City Construction foreman Construction worker Emmet Fireman I lumped most of the cowboys together as they don't appear to be from any sets. They're all different though. I don't recognise the castle soldiers either so as they seem to be identical I lumped them together. If I've made any glaring errors or you can recognise the one's I had trouble with LMK.
  17. Windle Poons! The lighting and colours on the ultimate weapon scene are beyond awesome. I've seen and attempted many such scenes in my four and a half decades on this planet. Yours is by far the sparkliest mostest superbliest ever. EVER!
  18. I lost interest as soon as I realised he'd be chromed. There's no chrome gold in my city only pearl gold. If Mr. Gold had been pearl Gold i might have gone looking and used him as a statue if I found him. But as he's chromed he's of no use or interest to me. About as appealing as a minifigure with a convention venue and date printed on the back. Or a minifigure glued to a magnet. Useless.
  19. (This post is a musing. It isn't meant to derail the thread or start a protracted debate.I just wanted to make a comment but didn't see a point in creating a separate thread.) In my opinion the clockwork robot is the worst minifigure of the modern age. Maybe if the base colour was pearl grey or a primary colour they might be interesting but the light blue grey is just so bland. The decoration just sits there all limp and pathetic and it should really pop at you and make you go WOW!. The female robot is a really bad idea. For one thing the design of the torso is dubious and for another, robots are genderless. There's a billion ways Lego could have got another female fig in the mix and this is a rotten choice. Rather than being a notch on the feminism flag pole it's got girly pink colouring and lipstick which smacks of sexism and gender stereotyping. A shot in the foot for Lego. Like I say, it's merely my opinion and yes, I'll be ignoring the figure in future and pretending it didn't happen. There will be some of you who disagree and say it's just a bit of fun. I say that makes you complicit in the sexism and gender stereotyping. How can Lego put a strong female character like the scientist in a series and then this robot? Ugh, horrible 1950's misogyny. It makes me think the scientist isn't a scientist at all but a lowly lab assistant instead. Because "girls don't do science, all that thinking melts their brains. Now run along and bake me a flower or press some dead cakes in a book or whatever it is you delicate types do". It's all too Stepford wives. I think Lego need to up their game. Ditch the pink as default colour on female CMF's and be more interesting. More adventurous. And definitely, DEFINITELY no more sexualised female robots! It's tacky and creepy as hell.
  20. Quite honestly, I think Lego need to go back to giving away printed bricks and posters. Something that would be exclusive to the event but not cause this widespread angst. Minifigures do bring in a lot of custom for Lego but at the end of the day they are a company making building blocks and that should be the focus. As for the people who pay vast amounts of money for tiny little plastic figures, there's an old adage that rings true: "A fool and his money are soon parted". Said fools ruin it for everyone else. Thus proving that greed is not good. Greed is very, very bad. As is elitism. Which is often displayed by those who simply must be the first to have that product and crow about it in a nasty little video dressed up as a review. There's a horrible dark shadow hanging over the world of Lego and it's adult shaped. Many people need to have a serious word with themselves.
  21. Don't pay the big prices. If we want prices to come down the simple answer is to not give in to the people essentially holding the minifigures to ransom. I won't pay any more than £4 on any figure. no matter how much I'd like one. Sellers greed is my biggest peeve. a fair price means I'm far more likely to buy from a seller again and those who put massive asking prices on stuff will not get my custom ever. The more people who boycott over chargers the more sensible prices will become. There will always be those who have more money than sense or just have to have that minifigure first for bragging about in some atrocious youtube video. I'd love Lego to re-release all the harder to come by minifigs and totally devalue the first release. Level the market. Stick one right in the kisser of these scalpers.
  22. I'd rather pay a little extra to get the figures from bricklink or ebay. I really can't deal with disappointment and wasting journeys to find something but coming home empty handed. So I let someone else figure out what each figure is and cherry pick. I think the money I spend on postage is probably about the same as I'd waste accidentally picking up the wrong figs if I was out feeling packets. And the cost of travel. On balance I think Bricklink and ebay are the better option. regarding the release date of series 11, I passed on the info to my brothers step daughter who is madly deeply in love with Lego right now and she went to bed a very happy young lady.
  23. Interesting. A few questions: What material is the rail made from? How much give or springiness is there in it. I notice that it's got a split edge that you push the connectors into. How tight is that fit? Also, in your picture dr_spock, what exactly is going on with that massive circular saw blade and the jousting Friends?
  24. I'd love to see that. The piece is made in white plastic with black printing. a completely black one would indeed be a miracle rarity.
  25. Wow. talk about hyperbole. "Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer for Turner's Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media Division." Even his job title is overblown. Self important much? Good on Lego and CN for forging a strong partnership though. Look forward to seeing the rest of the sets.
