  1. Max Solarflare is a doofus. Just had to say it. I'm really annoyed that the sets are finally out and I'm flat broke. Sod's law.
  2. This thread makes me feel nauseous. Of all the ways to make money, hoarding children's toys to sell for profit has to be one of the most despicable.
  3. I'm disappointed that we aren't getting characters from the new game. So many great looking minifig designs. Lego need to do a collectible Superhero theme. It's the only way we'd ever get some of these characters we crave.
  4. That's a tad optimistic I wonder if the figures would be more like Friends minidolls than minifigures. I.E less blocky. There again it might not be minifigure scaled sets at all. What about sculptures? Say the heads of the Simpson family as busts.
  5. A right angled neck bracket with stud, 1x1 with clip and a 2x2 base signpost pole would give you a fairly realistic way of 'hanging' your scarecrow in a field. Though a new right angled neck bracket with clip would be better.
  6. Is town square a TRU exclusive or a brand store exclusive?
  7. No, THIS is Sturgeon Rescue...
  8. Doubtful. I feel pretty sure it'll be a stuffed cloth sack head type of look with a smiley face. More standard farm scarecrow than creepy Halloween one. That's what is most recognisable as a scarecrow. I know the series will debut near to Halloween but I still don't think it'll be a pumpkin head even if it has a scary face. Also, I'm secretly hoping for a friendly scarecrow so I can put it with the witch from series 2 and start a cool little Wizard of Oz scene. (Lion suit guy and Dorothy with a recoloured dog from the trendsetter girl would finish that off perfectly. I could cobble together a Tin man myself)
  9. Like the clown but wish they'd used the other clown head. The dwarf clown face is really disturbing. I'll probably just get the torso and hair from Bricklink. The rest of the set is pretty meh.
  10. That would make an awesome actual set. I especially like the classic space logo t-shirt and red jacket torso design.

    Ballabreek 2013

I love it when people don't just focus on the nicer side of life. The inclusion of the sewage treatment facility in your build is just great. It reminds me of the family holidays I had in North Wales as a boy where there was a sewage outlet pipe on the beach. I'm glad to see the water company responsible for Ballabreek has done something about the problem. It seems a little exposed though. Is it safe from winter storm tides?
  12. As a boy (1970's/early 1980's) I would build in solid colours. all red or all black etc. If I didn't have enough bricks to build what i wanted to I made something else that needed fewer bricks. Or I'd modify the design and build solid colour around a core of rainbow colours. I've always disliked random creations. But then my older brother was a huge influence on my building technique. His creations were always perfectly colour co-ordinated He introduced me to the concept of sorting bricks before building. And if parts were lacking only building parts of a creation to test techniques and stability. I also used to build in microscale a lot. Things that were huge and I knew I would never be able to build otherwise, I'd just create with a few plates and small parts like levers and round 1x1's or whatever. These days I only ever use odd colours on the inside of builds where it won't be seen. Support structures mostly. I would never build an exterior with rainbow colours even as a prototype build. I think it makes me more creative if i have to constantly modify and rethink a design based on a limited brick palette. It also makes it far easier to see the shapes and lines of a build if there aren't multiple colours throwing it off. That's not to say I don't think rainbow coloured builds are valid. Whatever works for the individual building the model is fine. Everyone views the world differently. I just happen to like a very tight control over my world and order to everything.
  13. I stand by my earlier statements.
  14. If there is a space sub-theme it would be kinda cool if it was based on the International Space Station. Maybe not the actual ISS but something similar. Somewhere for all those space shuttles from recent years to dock.
  15. The Coastguard sets are all lovely. I can't see a single thing I don't like in them. I do hope all the sharks are the new body though. After my moan about smaller boat decks not being wood coloured it's nice to see the fishing boat get a brown deck. I would have preferred a tan or dark tan one, but brown is an excellent step in the right direction. I still don't like that honkingly huge plane but everything else in the cargo sub-theme is great. I'm totally in love with the new pilot torso. I'll have to grab a few of those from Bricklink. The stunt plane is still horrible but I do like the little support vehicle that comes with it. Advent calendars aren't my thing. And I'm slightly puzzled by the astronaut with the magic wand. An odd inclusion.

    Ballabreek 2013

How odd. I was only thinking about looking for Ballabreek this afternoon to see if there were any updates and here it is. I love how modest your village is. Everything in it's place and a place for everything. Compact and bijou. The addition of a beach is a splendid move. I was hoping to start on my own town over the course of the summer. I have plans that have been rattling round my brain for years. But looking at Ballabreek again has reminded me that I also have plans for a village on the coast drawn up somewhere. Which might be a better place to start given my meagre building space.I'm going to keep Ballabreek in mind because it proves that small is beautiful. So the small port of Legollyn might make an appearance in the next few months. In the meantime I look forward to the next Ballabreek update, greg3.
  17. Am I alone in not wanting this minifig? Maybe it's because it's ugly. Maybe it's because I don't think chrome is fitting as a finish on Lego and prefer pearl gold as a true Lego colour. Or maybe it's that I have no taste for rarities and exclusives. I think mostly I dislike people crowing smugly about having something others don't. Especially when it's adults and they're taking something intended for children. The expression 'taking candy from a babe' springs to mind. I have the utmost of contempt for anyone now selling these things for hundreds of dollars.
  18. To be a true adult is to recognise the child inside. And embrace it with love rather than banish it to the attic of one's mind.

  19. I didn't say before but I love these renders. I know you probably won't but it would be bloody marvellous if you did do the complete hall of 42 suits. I just lined up all the one's you've done and that's awesome in itself. 42 Lego Iron Men on a poster would be mind blowingly sweet. I know, it's a lot of work and not what you wanted to do. Just saying how cool it would be.
  20. However you colour it, it's still selfish.
  21. Just go to page 8. it's been updated with all armours from Mark 1 to Mark 42. pictures aren't all brilliant but best look at all of them so far. And I believe this is Mark-XVI in silver
  22. LOL! This is awesome though not applicable. Iron Hulk
  23. Heavy Lifting Suit (Mark XXXVIII) Igor Deep Sea Suit (Mark XXXVII) Hammerhead Heavy Construction Suit (Mark XXV) Striker Only reason I mentioned Ironmonger, Whiplash and Iron drones is that they're all based on the Stark designed suit. So while technically not being Stark's suits they're closely tied to them.
  24. How about the Mark-XL Hydro armour? Also the Whiplash Mark-II armour? Not forgetting the Iron drone. There's also the unused Hulkbuster armour.
  25. It's a BR toy store promo figure. With an ugly hat. Though the legs are pretty cool. Better than the tin soldier exclusive's legs at any rate.
