Ah, right. I wasn't really paying much attention to the trailer. i just saw it had the same look as Cars and was set in the same world and assumed it was a tie-in from Pixar. It makes total sense that it would be a Disney movie. The masters of milking things for all they can get.
-
Pixar's 'Planes' would probably be a good addition to the Cars range seeing as it's set in the same 'reality'. Admittedly it would be a fairly short run thing as planes just aren't as enticing as cars but I can't see why Disney Pixar wouldn't want Lego 'Planes' helping to promote the movie. Which judging from the trailer is going to tank. Toy Story 4 will also not do well as they're dredging the barrel with that one. But as we all know, toys help sell a movie.

We had a cinema like this in my home town called The Classic. It's now a trendy wine bar or something. Shame. I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said. All I have is a question: Will you be switching the lower case A in the PaLaCE sign to an upper case one?

Those minifigure packs are great. The white fence in the police pack seems a little incongruous. I get what it represents but it just looks a bit odd in the packaging. Shame it isn't one of these.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Jargo replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Speaking of sporty types, I'd quite like to see a snorkeller. kinda like the surfer dude with bermuda shorts with some mad design on them and the snorkel mask and air tube attaching to the minifig hair then some flippers in a colour we've not had before. And a lobster as the accessory. Yes I know this isn't a wishlist thread but I think with all the coast guard sets and the other water based CMF's (14 by the time of series 10 being released) the next place to go would be snorkelling. A snorkel mask attaching to hair would have been better for the series 1 diver. Only being able to attach one to a helmet is very limiting.- 1,076 replies

I hope that green street sweeper isn't included. It's total pants. The crane is pretty much pants too. I'd buy the bike shop, pizza pace and bus as a set but the statue, crane and sweeper just don't cut the mustard for me. Especially that horrible throwback sweeper. Hideous ugly and pointless. No self respecting city would use such antiquated equipment.

When you want to create a city park and remember you gave your nephew a football/soccer set and call them to see if they still have the football/soccer baseplates. You resent giving the sets you bought as birthday presents to your nephews You have your 45th birthday and fall into a depression because nobody gave you Lego as a birthday present You train your dog to sniff out certain parts in your bucket of unsorted parts You insist on having the largest room in the house as your bedroom so that you can fit all your Lego, your computer desk and your bed and a sofa so that you don't have to go to another room to reach your Lego and can position your bed so that you can reach your Lego during the night. Every transaction on your credit card bills for the last ten years is Lego You wish your house was made of Lego so you could reconfigure it at will You find yourself inserting Lego based comments into every conversation you have with everyone you know You plan your funeral and include the provisos that all your Lego be buried with you and that your casket be made out of Lego

I think that just refers to the hive crawler, Galactic Titan and the pink pods containing mosquitoid larva. but the Hive mother could well be the new 'armoured' mosquitoid I suppose. Bit crappy if it is. I want a maxifig hive mother. something meaty and fighting mean. that new 'armoured' mosquitoid is just too small to fit the role.

This is fantastic. I'm now more interested in the unfolding life of the village than I ever was of any soap opera.

It's not just that they're cute animals. It's that they're cute animals kicking the snot out of each other.

If there's a third wave I hope it concentrates on structures rather than vehicles. All the box art and the GS minisite show those alien planet (the name of which I know I've seen somewhere but can't find again) city buildings in the background I'm interested in that culture too. Is it abandoned or have all the citizen's been turned into insectoids or been eaten? It's a possible direction now that both the GS and insectoids have plenty of stuff to fight each other with. Give them somewhere to battle it out I say.

I refer you to the photo linked to in my previous post which is from last year. The car in the pic from last year uses a red 4x6 roof wedge. Both cars are the same and even appear to have the same minifig at the wheel. what I did get wrong was comparing the mysterious blue car to the existing blue car from the multi-storey when I meant to say the yellow car from 4435 Car and Caravan.
-
I think the set will comprise of: Bike shop with dirt bike and bicycle Pizza place with kid on purple skateboard Gas station with blue people carrier car (seen atop the multi-storey car park) Red bus with bus stop signpost Statue on plinth. 3 buildings, two vehicles, one monument. The crane I think is a taster of of construction sets to come, just part of the display or a complete red herring.
-
The red car was first seen last year when the multi-storey car park and hospital were first shown. It's the yellow car from the set, in red with cheese slopes at the rear instead of a 1x4 tile. The blue car on the top of the car park is seemingly new. It's almost like a cross of the VW like SUV and blue car that came in the car park set.
-
It looks that way because it's intended to appeal to children.
-
Love the Pizzeria and Bike shop. The bus too. Not so keen on the Gas station. However every town or City has multiple gas stations so it's a must have. I'm horrified that the display has bent baseplates for hangar roofs. Also, this pic confirms that the ear defenders/headset is held on by a peg fitting into a hole in the cap.

FAPC: MR. DAVE CHICKEN OF THE TEXTURED SOYLENT PROTEIN FOOD GROUP INC.

Right then, I managed to get just one vote of one point in the contest voting period, (thank you theDeanoRama), and obviously didn't win anything. So, I'm curious about why people didn't vote. Is it that people didn't get the reference to the Soylent Green book or movie? The build was crappy? There was too much going on in the build? No-one bothered to check out the flickr gallery? I'm just absolutely awful and grind everyone's gears and no-one voted on principle? People felt I'd cheated in some way? People don't like red and white in large quantities? People only vote for their friends? I welcome feedback so that I can improve presentation generally and know what not to do in future contests. Be as truthful as you like, I'll accept criticism as well as constructive critique. I'd rather hear the truth than face indifference.- 13 replies

Or you could get one on Ebay or Bricklink? I know that's how I'll get one or two.

As I wanted to know what the vehicles were called I did some looking around for back of box info and checked official set descriptions and have compiled this short list for reference. I can't find pictures of the box back for three of the summer wave but I think we can assume that Billy Starbeam will have another 'speeder' and Jack Fireblade a 'flyer'. Chuck Stonebreaker's little vehicle could be a 'speeder', a 'flyer' or a 'hovercraft'. Anyway I've done my best to unite any differing descriptions. I'll update this post when the missing info becomes available. Winter wave: 70701 Swarm Interceptor - Speedy Interceptor agile flyer + Missile Turret. 70702 Warp Stinger - Speeder-bike. 70703 Star Slicer - Armoured Car + Attack Flyer mini-jet. 70704 Vermin Vaporizer - Mobile Laboratory + Battle Buggy + Mighty Mech. 70705 Bug Obliterator - Space Devastator swift attack ship + Ground Assault Unit armoured rover. Summer wave: 70706 Crater Creeper - ?? 70707 CLS-89 Eradicator Mech - ?? 70708 Hive Crawler - ?? 70709 Galactic Titan - Deep Space Destroyer + Planetary Defender. Polybag: 30230 Mini-mech - Mini-mech

Cool, thank you. I like that they went to the trouble of naming each vehicle. It makes things seem more complete and properly organised.
-
Damn! You're right. I'll amend my list. Done.
