  1. Unfortunately, M<*&$ks has the John Deere licence, other makers of farm equipment and similar may be available, Kubota makes a lot of nice orange colored machines.
  2. I had this issue as well, the only cure was to start over, making sure any hinge or hinge-align operations were done on small sections, usually in separate lxf files, and then combined.
  3. Doc, the 64 Chevy from Repo Man is a classic. I had one in the same blue color. The thing was built like a tank. After it got sold in '83,I'd see it running around the neighborhood. Still see them occasionally.
  4. Hope you are correct, but I feel for our Canadian, European, and other non-US friends.
  5. PF part 58118, Extension wire 50 cm, accessible in LDD extended mode, correctly has two plugs; but, unlike the other PF parts in which the plug can be moved independently of a motor, for example, the two plugs move together rather than separately when repositioning one of the plugs, rendering the part mostly useless.
  6. Holy BatS&@!, $250.00 for the 42030 However nice that set is going to be, it will be hard to justify the spending that much for it. I can see doing $139.99 for the 42025 Cargo plane, however.
  7. Cute, very nice. But don't remind me, grass is starting to grow which means more outside work and less LEGO work...
  8. Thank you all for the nice comments, it is appreciated since it comes from this august group of builders!
  9. Finally, only 31 days late, here is my flying saucer entry : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94046 Its got wheels since LEGO can't fly.
  10. Here is my entry for the JFAIR topic. A motorized flying saucer inspired by 1950's B-movies. First, a video done in "shaky amateur style" Since LEGO-builds don't really fly, I added wheels so to make the UFO zoom crawl across the floor. The final build features a base unit with battery box, XL motor driving two axles, with differentials, a servo motor for two axle steering, an XL motor to rotate the saucer, and two IR receivers. The saucer section has a battery box, an IR receiver, and lots of PF lights. Two IR transmitters are used as well. Features a manually operated ramp to allow aliens and resident robots to exit and invade the earth (Klaatu barada niktu anyone?): More pictures and videos:
  11. After getting too upset with the quirks of e-bay, I now take a more relaxed approach. I decide how much an item is worth to me, then bid that amount within 12 hours of the close of auction. If I win, great, if not, the winner overbid, in my opinion. The reality is that I really don't need more children's building toy's anyways, so not worth getting upset about. And usually, there are less expensive sources for the same items, once the bidding gets out-of-hand.
  12. I am thinking that 42023 makes a fairly good universal set, but has no PF or pneumatics, but has a good variety of parts.
  13. Efferman - first, thank you for all the hard work. Any progress on something like this? An option would be a standard beam, with every other opening rotated 90°. For a 15L beam, 8 holes opening up/down, 7 holes opening left/right. Or even better, a standard beam, with holes pointing front/back on the ends, and then left/right and up/down alternating, something like this but with all of the pins fully seated
  14. Butane is a flammable fuel, I'd not recommend using it outside of its intended usage. Also, as butane is highly compressible, it will undergo adiabatic expansion, meaning that on expansion, as you noted, the gas will get very cold, perhaps cold enough to embrittle ABS plastic and cause it to crack. Please don't use butane. I'd suggest getting some cans of compressed gas such as those sold for cleaning electronics. WIll still undergoing cooling (as all gases do) on expansion, but will not be an explosion hazard. Another option is dry ice or liquid nitrogen, but you will need the appropriate containers to handle the gas safely. How about a cheap aquarium air pump?
  15. I agree - having been into digital imaging, and very fussy with color balance, the old grey parts are clearly greenish-tinted, "sick" or "rotten" looking. The new "stone-grey" colored parts are much more neutral in color balance, and are generally more pleasing.
  16. I am as finished as I'll ever be with the flying saucer / UFO. Didn't have time to work out one of the PF's I wanted, but at least it has enough functions to make it Technic. I'll be posting some pictures in a day or so, time to move onto other projects.
  17. Should have thought a bit more before posting . Here is a simple lever solution that should work. And I found out you can rotate the switches on the PF remote within LDD using the hinge function Locked Unlocked
  18. I am looking for suggestions on a better way to lock one of the levers in the RC remote control. This older thread http://www.eurobrick...remote +control had one method, as shown in the first image, but is a bit bulky. I would like to be able to lock the lever position in a two-remote set-up, with one of the center remotes being the lockable one (second image, lime-colored lever). The function will be for lights on/off on a 4x4 with independant front and rear steering. Any thoughts would be appreciated. (Chewing gum and other non-Lego solutions are not preferred).
  19. Under the leftmost menu bar pull down list, "FILE", select 'export BOM', works best in regular LDD mode, you get an Excel file, which I then convert to a .csv file for ease of use.
  20. I've been following this topic with interest, since I will likely get trains sometime in the next year... Quick question - are the flexible tracks really that bad that you need to make custom alternatives?
  21. I've got several MOCs in progress in which axles need to be cut - I say go for it
  22. Clever mechanism, we need a video to fully appreciate!
  23. Being able to customize is great, but check out Brick Machine Shop's 4" linear actuator - its not cheap http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Eezo&itemID=29431328
  24. Waiting for the larger coconut-sized version!
