  1. First, thank you for providing this awesome app, it really helps Is there any way to get some decorated parts into the searchable parts list, this part was not added to the search list although it was in the imported want list: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3070bpb077
  2. Did I read correctly, that the 3x11 panels will be now available in black??? Hooray!
  3. A quick mod, in LDD, to make the chemistry laboratory floor more realistic, as they always have floor drains , Usually round, like in my labs, but sometimes rectangular as well.
  4. Another collision error, this time between the full bushing, part 6590, and crawler wheel rim 15038 - bushing intrudes into the rim. Occurs regardless of orientation of the bushing, this does not happen with the Unimog rim 44772.
  5. Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions - pro and con are both appreciated. I just received the last of the parts I needed, and so will be building, but may take a month or so unfortunately. I'll post pictures when done, of course.
  6. I find that pressing sticky tape onto the parts, and then rapidly removing the tape, will remove glue. You need to do this over and over again to get all of the glue off - can be a real PITA though.
  7. The master builder in the time-lapse video isn't using the Kragle, but it looks like he is using the Elmer
  8. Kind of a subtle issue. I frequently use and modify custom part lists, so in LDD 'normal' mode I can build from the parts I have. Often, I modify the parts list and copy the modified file into the proper directory, on my PC its "...\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\UserPalettes", which works great most of the time. But occasionally, after modifying a file and replacing an old version with a new version, either with the same file name or a new file name, and then loading LDD, the old versions and/or old file names are still in the "filter bricks by boxes" icon list, as if LDD maintains a cache of older files, that does not get cleared when restarting. Need to be able to manually or automatically refresh this cache. On a related note, would like to be able to control what files get displayed in this area, rather than have to look at "Hero Factory" as the top most item.
  9. Blakbird, did they have 42025 Cargo Airplane? Maybe worth an hour's drive north to get it finally, if so.
  10. You answered a lot of questions about full RC. Is there room for two IR receivers, so that tipping can be by remote also?
  11. Sorry to bump this old topic, but this is now on LEGO IDEAS : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/13596 Lets all vote and get a largish Technic project in front of the Ideas review board (again).
  12. If ghosts need busting on Mars, this is how it might be done In LDD, I modified the original Cuusoo/Ideas version of the Mars Rover to have a Ghostbusters feel, attempting to add as many of the greebles present in 21108 while still retaining the Rover feel and function. Added a proton pack to the front and then the Rover's instrument boom becomes the nozzle, with silver flex hose connecting the two. The wheel hubs on both original sets are the same size, so easy to use 21008's wheels, and silver wheel covers, with 21005's tires. Also attempted to capture the 21008's Caddy tailfins onto the Rover body. A little photoshopping on these images to add the sticker images to the model. Too much? Sacrilegious? Are you ROFL? I want to see what people think of this before I go get the parts, as I won't part out my Ghostbusters set just yet, but will mod the Rover accordingly,
  13. Kudo's to TLG for giving us multiple options for license plates for the Mini Cooper. Looks like we have UK, German, Danish, Australian and US (Connecticut) to choose from. See this image from Jim's recent excellent review: I'm from Connecticut, but I am going with the UK tags as I feel they go better with the overall theme and 'feel' of the model. (by the way, is it yellow in front or back?) What are your thoughts?
  14. Sariel - you confirmed my suspicions that this would be an excellent set, thanks for the great review! Of course, there is no sign of this in the US , but I'll have time to plan out a strategy to fully motorize with L (or XL) for RWD and servo for steering. Update - just checked the LEGO website, all of the 2014 1H and 2H sets are listed in the Technic page , but not on S@H - which means we will get them sometime by the end of the year??? if not sooner???
  15. 70124 - Eagle Legend Beast Theme : Legends of Chima Larger Image LDD version 4.3.8 brickset 1392 LDD file : 70124.lxf External inventories: BrickLink - BrickSet Errors: no stickers or printed parts available in LDD, solid color versions of parts employed Wrong eye print on the two 1x1 round white tiles used for the eagle's eyes All parts correct as listed in original instructions
  16. I'd say that the chemistry vignette is a dead-ringer for the messy well-organized lab I have down the hall from me, at work. Minifig needs safety glasses, though. Great job from the designers and LEGO, and certainly getting at least one, for me, and one for my kids.
  17. Thanks for the kind comments, especially Spencer_R, as your model was also an inspiration to my MOD, I edited the first post accordingly. @Steve309 - the black is just "bedrock" supporting structure, I picked black as I have a lot of bricks in black, the only other suitable color could be DBG, which would then not provide enough contrast with the building's stonework. I submitted this model to Rebrickable as public MOC-1724, not sure how long this will take to get approved, I will post a message when this happens. In the meantime, you can download the LDD file, http://www.bricksafe...full mod v3.lxf, and either use LDDManager or export a Bill of Materials (BOM), in Excel, direct from LDD I too was initially bothered with having to much going on in terms of colors, but in the end, this is not just model of a building, but a model of a building in a landscape environment which is integral to the model, which is a unique aspect of 21005 as compared to the other architecture sets. After all, its a building over a waterfall. We may have to agree to disagree on this one, and Spencer_R, thanks for posting the explanation from Adam Tucker. While I can agree on using all beige for the house, including the bricks, I don't see why you would want the landscape, and representations of natural stone features in the landscape, to be the same color as the building, as this is not at all realistic. While it has been 20+ years since I have been to Fallingwater so I don't have a clear recollection, certainly the landscape surrounding the house is typical of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands - heavy forested, various shades of grey rocks and boulders, and red-brown soil and stream beds. Having visual contrast, between the model of the structure and the surrounding area and watercourse, in my opinion, enhances the remarkable nature of FLW's design. I choose dark tan to represent the soil, as I thought either red-brown, brown, or dark brown made the model more garish.
  18. I didn't want to bump an old topic, as I am also somewhat late to the party for this set, but finally purchased at a good price. Inspired by Superkalle's mod of 21005 Fallingwater http://www.eurobrick...84, in this set review topic: http://www.eurobrick....05 review&st=0, I made a MOD of Fallingwater using LDD, as the original design seemed somewhat bland, and after studying images available on the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy's Fallingwater website: http://www.fallingwater.org/ I also based some aspects on a mod posted by Spencer_R, https://www.flickr.com/photos/51130204@N04/7515792352/#The scale of the model doesn't lend itself to too many fine details, however. Changed the color of the stone work to capture somewhat the variegated nature of the actual building's stones, lowered the bridge, as suggested by others, and also added the red trim on the windows, another addition by Superkalle, to suggest the dark-red framing of the building's windows. The most bothersome in the original model was that the landscape visually merged with the building. I changed the ground color to dark tan, and highlighted the water course through the use of red-brown. A few cheese slopes and other small details added here and there to make the whole more pleasing. FInally, changed the color of the "non-visible" (below-ground) parts to black, and added the black base (also seen in previous 21005 mods). I retained the stackable / interlocking design of the original model. I would like some opinions or feedback on the color choices, etc..., prior to acquiring parts needed. Thanks! and the LDD file http://www.bricksafe...full mod v3.lxf Here is the original, image linked to the original EB review topic
  19. Great, now I can reenact my favorite scene in the movie: Ray Stantz: Where do these stairs go? Peter Venkman: They go up.
  20. Well, it gets even better and stranger, but in a good way . I just received my latest order from Bricks and Pieces, aside from the usual left/right panel pricing discrepancy (US $0.10 and $0.01 difference on two different pairs of parts), I received three lots, consisting of 4, 8, and 12 parts, NO CHARGE - so thank you TLG S@H  . I won't reveal the parts to avoid any potential issues or a land-rush of sorts, one is a printed part exclusive to a 2014 set, the other two are apparently uniquely colored parts exclusive (?) to another 2014 set. I am not even bothered by the fact they charged me VAT. By the way, some of the parts in this order were at prices about 60-80% less than at BL, so it pays to shop around. Overall, very happy with this last shipment
  21. My son says, that's really cool and its great that people survived!
  22. Oh the Humanity! Well done, dundarach. Would the train leave the tracks if the "accident" happened on a straight section of rail?
  23. OK, after this I will let it rest <rant>I am all for teaching children about issues related to social justice, tolerance, and good citizenship. These are complex concepts and need to be taught in a structured way. Performing a 'math' exercise with a pre-determined outcome is not this. We see this type of subtle and not-so-subtle manipulation of values throughout the curriculum all during the school year. In my day math was math, geography was geography, and civics class (or the principal's office) was the place for learning about societal issues and behaviors</rant> Excuse me while I go to BL and get a Hulk figure for my daughter so she can attack her brother's trains .
  24. Haha, I am actually more concerned that I will find the two of them in my garage, dismantling my transmission or otherwise "fixing' my mechanical equipment. You should see the stuff elementary school teachers are teaching in the US these days; we are almost tempted to homeschool the kids so they can be taught relevant material and not indoctrinated on what PhD education graduates with no real-world experience think should be taught (I know some of these people - they need to justify their thesis' topics, and text book manufacturers are only too happy to participate to get more sales) . My point is that our generation turned out mostly OK with old style teaching, curriculum and values with a focus on basic education. Why do schools see the need to get beyond the 3R's at an elementary school level is beyond me. Getting back on topic, LEGO is in business to sell stuff to kids, they know their market and what sells - this is a reflection on how we as parents raise our children, what values we instill in them, and what cultural influences they are exposed to. If you don't like it, don't buy it. My 6 yr old son wants Kingdom sets so he can 'rescue' the princess. My 9 yr old daughter wants Friends sets, and Technic - her goal is to motorize the Dolphin Cruiser , and they are both looking forward to getting the Female Minifigure Research Scientist set. These wants will change as they get older and mature.
  25. I noticed that many of the "light stone grey" colored bricks are given in the model as old light grey instead.
