New Theme Being Announced at New York Comic Con 2014
JGW3000 replied to Pheonix1604's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What would the fan base at a Comic Con / pop-culture convention get excited about? Maybe something related to upcoming mass-market releases, such as the HP-related "Magical Beasts and Where to FInd Them" movie, or maybe a new theme based on SW #7 movie or SW spin-off movies. Maybe a mini-doll scale Super Heroes or SW theme? -
Looks great and authentically captures one of the iconic scenes of the movie, well done!. But I think you need many more higher-caliber weapons

We as a Technic community need to get the word out about worthy Technic models that have been posted on Ideas. A good start would be the winners of the upcoming MT contest, as well as winners of the recent Mini contest. Any of those meet all of the criteria and goals - including buildability, playability, cost, etc... Promotion is needed at LUG events, on blogs, other fan sites, etc... I note that the most popular Technic models, based on ones that sell-out the quickest at our local Toys-R-Us, are ones in the US$20-$50 range. There is market and support for these - there is no reason why a well made small- to mid-range Technic or Model Team set couldn't get passed the Ideas review.

Two cats - a calico, Cleopatra, and a American grey shorthair, Petunia, who likes to "catch" LEGO bricks and take them down to the basement. There is quite a stash of all kinds of stuff down there - Nanobots, dead beatles, small rubber balls, girl's hair gizmos, and LEGO elements. The older one, Cleopatra, will sleep on building instruction books and refuse to budge, if you happen to walk away during a building session. I'm a unrealized dog person, though...

For those of us in the US, shouldn't this topic be retitled, "Technic August 2015 Discussion and Speculation" Other than the one set I bought for my #3 kld, as he really wanted it, I'm soured on the 2014 sets because of the delay. Maybe, with no 'The Lego Movie' to compete with, 2015 Technic sets will be released in a timely manner worldwide???

Just an hour away for me, I'm in! My TFOL, and Comic-Con enthusiast daughter, will go with me - which will be a real treat since she has not yet attended any similar event. Since we are close by to NYC, we will be able to focus our time and energy on what is important, LEGO!, and of course I'll bring my good camera and report back on the important events - LEGO!

Of course, a likely response is, "is that a 15L technic beam in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

Ondra, is that US dollars, Euros or some other currency. I can't see 42032 and 42033 being pull-back racers then if these are dollar prices, as the 4 previous pull-backs have all been US$20.

Bridgekeeper: "What is your favorite color?" JGW3000: "Grey, not wait, black..." "arghhhhhhhh"

AS LEGO MOC's go, the building techniques are pathetic, so no reason to promulgate this video

We have at least two here along the shoreline in Connecticut, but they connect relatively lightly travelled roads so are not much of an issue. Besides, the entrances are regulated with stop signs.

Don't forget that LEGO has another option for ordering parts, under Customer Service / Missing Parts / Bricks and Pieces / Buy a Piece / Bricks and Pieces Selection - here you can get any part in production, in any set, although a few are occasionally out of stock. Unfortunately, you have to get an e-mail quote, but rule-of-thumb is that for any part more than US $0.20, especially small parts, this option is often the least expensive, especially for new, high demand parts and rare parts.

I apologize if I seemed harsh, I like the war elephant MOC, but I don't see the need to associate it with any historic group, especially one with such a universal negative connotation. My appreciation for the build would be much greater without the identifying markings - a generic war elephant would be much better, IMHO.

Exhibit One why LEGO does not do modern military themes. Nice elephant, lose the symbols

Yup, but by the time I'm done, should no longer be as recognizable, at least that is the plan...
