  1. Is the single XL motor strong enough to move the vehicle?
  2. Now US $174 - and I finally placed an order for one, kid is going to be ecstatic
  3. Great Jim, look forward to it - hopefully you will have a well earned vacation
  4. Thanks for the tip, seems like they have a bunch of other recent Technic sets on sale also as of 2:16 pm EST in the US such as 42030 - $199
  5. A Porsche with a plow and pneumatic crane. Epic!
  6. LDD - LEGO Digital Designer, its on the LEGO website - http://ldd.lego.com/en-us/
  7. I'd rather have your excellent high quality review than a rushed review, so take your time, Jim (but not too long ) If I get this, I'm going to wait for double VIP points anyway...
  8. Working on a limited budget will favor sets with function over fashion, so I'd rather go with the BWE over the Porsche, Volvo may be nice for the pneumatics, depending on the outcome of reviews.
  9. Perhaps the trickiest part is the correct type of writing instrument. Adding turntables or non-concentric gearing is rather easy.
  10. Since the box presentation is a key feature of this set, perhaps Jim can comment on packaging and outer packing used to protect the box, so we can determine if we should go to a LEGO store or risk mail order in order to purchase this.
  11. 31313: Mindstorms EV3 (Model D: "R3PTAR") - Theme: Mindstorms - Subtheme: EV3 Year 2013 Brickset Rebrickable BrinkLink Mission 4: LXF file (LXF version 4.3.9 Brick Version 2075) Errors: No stickers Printing on IR sensor not in LDD no wires, just plug ends of cables Extra: The "Mission 4" can be considered the final shape for Model D, Missions 2 and 3 are the same build, absent the RC unit, with different EV3 programs implemented. Mission 1 model is here: - Mission 1 [image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)]
  12. Maybe a Hyperloop instead
  13. Check out both the official Mars Rover set, 21104, and the original IDEAS submission for LEGO rocker-boogies - neither of these can accommodate PF's, however. I believe that there are some larger scale technic-based builds in which PF's are employed, I'd suggest searching this forum, for example here or this EV3 version.
  14. 31313: Mindstorms EV3 (Model E: "EV3RSTORM") - Theme: Mindstorms - Subtheme: EV3 Year 2013 Brickset Rebrickable BrinkLink Mission 6: LXF file (LXF version 4.3.9 Brick Version 2075) Errors: no stickers no wires, just plug ends of cables red band not flexible in LDD, not placed on right hand gripper (impacts mission 2-6 models) axle 6, step 17 page 26, not fully inserted due to collision error (impacts all 6 mission models) blue axle/pin connector should be inserted into bottom of EV3 controller, as on page 53 (impacts all 6 mission models) Comments Caterpillar tracks are properly shaped for this model, while inflexible in LDD, fit perfectly in this case Extensive use of 'Hinge Align Tool' was required, resulting in some slightly 'off' angles in places, especially on the legs the six 'missions' differ primarily in use of additional parts for each subsequent model Extra The "Mission 6" can be considered the final shape for Model E, but the building instructions provide all six models, available here: - Mission 1 [Image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)] - Mission 2 [Image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)] - Mission 3 [Image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)] - Mission 4 [Image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)] - Mission 5 [Image][LXF (4.3.9/2075)]

  16. I didn't have LEGO, but I did have Erector sets. Some of my friends had Samsonite LEGO, which made them very popular. What got me into LEGO for myself was my kid's getting sets for birthday presents, and "needing" help to assemble them. Clearly my kid's presents were a gate-way drug for me.
  17. Obvious hint for the next car in the series? By the way, the 'vette looks awesome. My older cousin had one of early 1960's vintage.
  18. Grum - here's hoping for the best!
  19. Been going back and forth on this, hopefully will be available for at least a year, as I already bought two new cars IRL this year. From all the information available, 42056 is not limited or exclusive, so should be available at S@H for maybe two or more years.
  20. Very nicely done, but I agree with the above comments, this actually looks more like my wife's new Subaru hatchback
  21. I am really bothered by the use of this part in a color that clashes with the lava-bright orange. For the price, certainly they could have made in in black or medium stone grey, the MSG version is in current production. Looks like there are several dozen at least in this set.
  22. Look at the container of parts in the lower right, the shade of orange used in the pile of bushings is different than on the car parts, maybe the car is lava orange? No way of knowing until some clear well balanced images become available.
  23. Not on my knees, but I've been keeping my Technic Space Shuttle on the night stand next to my side of the bed, in case I get the urge to launch a satellite in the middle of the night, just need to make sure the whirr of the micromotor doesn't wake the wife
