LSynth: How to do pneumatic hose without bevel
Philo replied to Duq's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Visibility in MLCad depends on MLCad.ini file, you can edit it to add an entry. Or you can use this unofficial version http://jc-tchang.philohome.com/manuel/Images_ml_inif/MLCad.ini_Unofficial_2015-11-16.zip that has more LSynth possibilities, available here: http://jc-tchang.philohome.com/manuel/Images_ml_inif/MLCad.ini_Unofficial_2015-11-16.zip This page (in French, but Google translate is your friend...) has a lot of useful stuff for LSynth usage: http://jc-tchang.philohome.com/manuel/Lsynth3.htm -
LSynth: How to do pneumatic hose without bevel
Philo replied to Duq's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You have two style of hose defined in Lsynth, TECHNIC_PNEUMATIC_HOSE_BEVELED and TECHNIC_PNEUMATIC_HOSE. The latter is the one you want. -
I don't think so. Dunno if Trevor follows this forum, maybe you should ask on LDraw forum? http://forums.ldraw.org/read.php?11,18614,18614#msg-18614

It is easier in LPub3D but not automatic. Right-click on the assembly then "Add Rotate Icon". To move the icon drag it (using its border), or right click then move icon (in multistep pages)

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad

The one I discovered here is the ctrl+arrow key for 45° rotations ;) -
[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad

The best way is to use relative grid, as described here ("Building at an angle using a relative grid" at the end of page). Roughly speaking, select the hinge part and press 'o'. From there, the origin and axis orientation will be those of the hinge part, so it will be easy to move rotation center there (or use a bar 4L snapped in hing as helper part to define rotation center), and rotate the assembly around its hinge. When you are done, unselect everything and press 'o' again to come back to global origin/orientation ??? for my enlightenment, what do you find inconvenient in LDraw forum? I see no significant differences from here, except it's actually more convenient for me: Possibility to see indented threads to better follow discussions, and possibility to directly attach files directly on the forum... -
10886 is LEGO design number for patterned 50986 used here (http://brickset.com/parts/design-10886). So actually it's a case of "missing pattern"

Converting LDRAW models to CAD assemblies
Philo replied to EdmanZA's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Aside from suggestion, this issue can easily be solved: in LDView, Edit -> preferences -> geometry tab, uncheck "seam width" -
Well, this "PF like" 9v battery box appeared only one year before PF system, and was included only in one model and an accessory box!

Tips for Digital Modeling & Instructions
Philo replied to zweihander's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You should really give LDCad a try... I too used SR3D but never regretted the switch. The program is rock steady, and flex part creation is so much easier compared to Lsynth! -
[HELP] Laptop or Tablet for PDF Building Instructions?
Philo replied to Andy D's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I use a mere 7" tablet, and built some rather complex models from there. Granted, the screen is small, but it's so easy to zoom in/out... -
While your mind is not yet too "formated" by MLCad usage, I suggest that you give a try to LDCad which is much more convenient and powerful!

Not the right place to post this indeed... When looking for a LDraw part through its reference you must use the 5 digits design number (that defines shape), not the 7 digits item number (that defines shape + color). Brickset website allows to get the design number from the item number (for example http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6043656 -> 14704) The parts you're looking for are here: http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?s=14704 http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?s=14418 http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?s=14419 But they are not yet fully certified, so you must download and install the unofficial parts that you can download here to get them: http://www.ldraw.org/library/tracker/

Since the model is OMR compliant maybe you should post it on LDraw forum so that it is included in LDraw model repository?

Yeah, I considered that but... couldn't find any documentation or example showing how to do it?! -

Animation fun with LDCad... You can get the scripts for a few animations and some more details on LDraw forum here.
