1. A bit of research and elimination makes me think Y could be a Yuppie as not many other Italian words start with a Y and another yeti seems unlikely. Therefore instead of Yo-yo the Yuppie could match the 80s clue as it is a very 80s term...
2. But the other way, if you type 'guy' in and then translate into Italian you get tipo, which is a valid translation. Tizio works too - try typing in 'dude' and translating to Italian.
3. In that case, how about instead of frog or rhino costume, TiCdR is Tipo in Costume da Razzo (Rocket Suit Guy). It would fit in with Itara's 'Sky Rocket' comment and would be something nobody had thought of before. This also frees up 'V' to be the animal-related Veterinario (Vet) - a shame as I was really hoping this would be Violinist!!! So my guesses and reasoning would be as follows... 1) Circus Strongman 2) Butterfly Suit Girl 3) Hello, I am a town character that is present in at least 25 minifigures since the 80's and I am never been released as a collectible minifigure - C for Cuocere/Capocuco (Cook or Chef) 4) Hello, I am a guy and seeing me will make people think what you thought when it was series 4 and there was one character related to series 1 - S for Skateboarder (same in Italian) 5) Hello, I am a guy, I have been hinted before in the guessing game, I will make many army builders happy, I have a counterpart scattered somewhere in the first 10 waves - this is the Dwarf 6) Hello, I am a girl, I have been hinted before in the guessing game, I will make... blah blah blah. Read 5 - EF for Elfo Femmina (Female Elf) 7) Hello, I am a character and my presence here is related to a new minifigure accessory that has been released in 2016 - this is the Hot Dog vendor 8) Hello, I am a guy and my silhouette is visible in the leaftlet for batman series. I am not a pirate - H for Highwayman (although Google Translate disagrees) 9) Hello, I am your food costume guy - TiCdP for Tipo in Costume da Pannochia (Corn Cob Suit Guy) 10) Hello, I am a character from one nationality specifically - A (C) for Australiano (Canguro) - Australian with Kangaroo 11) Hello, I am a girl, and I am related to someone in series 5 and someone in series 15 at the very same time - IdD for Istruttore di Danza (Dance Instructor) 12) Hello, I am a character, and you don't want to mess with me. I sound like a re-hash from someone in the first 5 waves, if this is historically correct - GR for Gladiatore Romano (Roman Gladiator) 13) Hello, I am a guy and this is totally bizarre. Really, nobody would have thought that I would have ever been a minifigure. And my price will sky-rocket. At least this is what Shintaku thinks - TiCdR for Tipo in Costume da Razzo (Rocket Suit Guy) 14) Hello, I am a guy and I will make the 80's great again. No I am not Donald Trump. Y for Yo-yo (although I'm not convinced this is a valid answer as he wouldn't just be called 'Yo-yo' more like Yo-yo Boy..) 15) Hello, I am a character, and I am not always on planet Earth - AR for either Astronauta (Russo/Rosso) or Russian/Red Astronaut or for Alieno Rosso/Rosa - red/pink alien??? 16) Hello, I am a charater and I am somewhat related to animals - V for Veterinario (Vet)

2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Fun at the Beach sounds great but if it is to be as popular as Fun at the Park, there will need to be a similar number of new moulds and torsos to maintain the same interest. I bet the duck rubber ring piece from the Batman CMFs will be included without the Bat-mask. Jungle sets sound great too and will be a must buy if they contain new moulded animals. Mainly as we won't see them again like the elephant from 2003. Wish we had an annual set with new animals every year so quite excited for City 2017!
5. OK, so we're still unsure which language it definitely is but nobody has suggested anything better than Italian, which fits in with the corn suit guy so I've thought about some further translation options for the remaining figures... 1. V - a few options here Violinista/Veterinario/Ventriloquo/Vichingo/Vagabondo/Vampiro/Vacanziere/Vasaio (Violinist, Vet, Ventriloquist, Viking, Tramp, Vampire, Holiday-Maker, Potter...) 2. EF - Could this be Elfo Favola (Fairytale Elf) or Elfo Femmina (Female Elf)? 3. H - a tough one as not many words beginning with H in Italian. My best options were Hippy or Hawaiano (Hippy or Hawaiian). However, the picture in the catalogue still looks like a Highwayman so although Google Translate suggests a Highwayman is a Bandito, it may be a specifically English term with no real translation. Likewise, is there a real translation for 'Hipster' other than the Google option 'Fricchetone'? 4. C - Too many options here so take your pick...Centauro (Centaur), Conduttore (Conductor), Cantante (Singer), Chitarrista (Guitar Player), Cornista (Horn Player), Cavaliere (Knight), Cuocere/Capocuoco (Cook/Chef), Clown (Clown), Cameriera (Maid), Ciclista (Cyclist), Cowboy/Cowgirl (Cowboy/Cowgirl) or Chirugo (Surgeon) 5. A (C) - several option for 'A' too (see No 7 below). The C in brackets is strange so may indicate there is also a different translation. My best guess is Astronauta/Cosmonauta (Astronaut/Cosmonaut) - essentially the same thing and the earlier clues suggested there would be something that is not always on Planet Earth. "Alieno (Cthulu)" would also fit the description but we have recently had a Cthulu. There was also a clue about a figure being specifically from one nationality - perhaps Itaria used brackets to represent an animal separate from the figure so A (C) could be Australiano (Canguro) or Australian (Kangaroo). 6. GR - didn't we earlier establish the possibility of a Gladiator making a reappearance as a result of the original clues - in which case GR could be Gladiatore Romano (Roman Gladiator) or possibly Guerriero Romano (Roman Warrior). Another option could be Genio Rosso (Red Genie). 7. AR - not sure about this one as I cannot think what the R could be yet. Favourite options beginning with A include Apicoltore (Beekeeper), Attore/Attrice (Actor/Actress), Arbitro (Referee), Atleta (Athlete), Aviatore (Aviator), Avvocato (Lawyer - although not likely as a bit of a dull figure), Angelo (Angel) and Azteco (Aztec). 8. TiCdR - As mentioned before this could be Tipo in Costume da Rana (Guy in Frog Costume) or possibly Rinoceronte (Rhino) 9. Y - very few options here as not many Italian words beginning with a 'Y' - cannot think of much other than a yeti, although this would be a repeat - possibly a female yeti although there are no other letters suggesting this is called 'Lady' Yeti. The other option is a Yo-Yo guy (relating to Itaria's comments about making the 80s great again) 10. S - again lots of options here - perhaps Sposo (Groom), Stregone (a Sorcerer, Warlock or Shaman), Sacerdote (Priest - albeit unlikely), Scheletro (Skeleton - a bit dull), Skydiver (uninteresting repeat), Supereroe (Super Hero), Scultore (Sculptor) and Spazzacamino (Chimney Sweep) 11. IdD - Insegnante/Instruttore di Danza (dance teacher/instructor). Otherwise the 'I' could also be for Infermiera (Nurse), Ingegnere (Engineer) or Inventore (Inventor) 12. TiCdP - I think this has to be Tipo in Costume da Pannocchia (Guy in Corn Cob Costume)
6. I don't think anybody was doubting you have the correct information either, Itaria. However, I much prefer these games so that it passes the time and everyone can join in, rather than somebody just saying I know this and that but I'm not going to share!!! Anyway, I was trying to figure out the recent clues and figure there must be some more costume characters. Seeing as Itaria is from Italy, could No. 8 and 12 be "Tipo in Costume da XYZ" (guy in XYZ costume in Italian)? Perhaps TiCdR could be Tipo in Costume da Rana (frog costume guy) or TiCdP could be Tipo in Costume da Pecora (sheep costume guy)

Guess the next animal mould round 2

A new jungle City subtheme surely means there will be several new animal moulds (finally!) Only question is what kind of jungle it will be (Indian - tigers, African - gorillas or Amazon - jaguars...) However, the CMF series should be released beforehand and there is bound to be a new animal mould included.
8. 1) Circus Strongman (M) 2) Butterfly Suit Girl (F) 3) Doctor, Chef & Postman seem the most likely options here although seem a little dull for a collectible figure so would require a new accessory like a rolling pin. (M/F) 4) Skateboarder is the only repeat in Series 1 & 4 but the wording here may imply we thought the Series 4 character would be a different figure at the time - perhaps we thought the 'mad scientist' would be a doctor to match the nurse? (M) 5) Army builders are usually historical or mythological warriors - does a counterpart imply the gender reverse of a figure, if so possibly Perseus to counter the Series 10 Medusa? (M) 6) Hmmm, a female army builder that has been suggested in the guessing game - I'll go with Aztec Princess (as Robert's design is awesome) or maybe a Harpy (F) 7) The wheelchair is probably the most memorable new part although is this too big to be considered an 'accessory'? (M/F) 8) I can't see this being anything other than a Highwayman, especially if there are no pirates. (M) 9) We know it isn't a pizza costume - perhaps ice cream or some sort of fruit and veg (carrot, apple...)? (M) 10) One nationality specifically suggests it can't be something too generic from a region (e.g. an Alpine costume, Andean character, Sheikh, as these represent more than one country). I would guess either a Canadian Mountie or an Steve Irwin type character (with a koala or something to make them specifically Australian) (M/F) 11) Perhaps this could be a teacher to match the Series 5 student and the Series 15 Janitor, or something to do with dance to match the fitness instructor/ballet dancer (F) 12) The only character who you could suggest is historically questionable is "Robin Hood"? (M/F) 13) I also wonder if this is the completely transparent figure, given that many claim this would not be possible to make and would also be very popular for its uniqueness. A centaur is another possibility, given that we would assume it would be too big for a CMF but would also be very popular in the after market. There are not many characters we have not thought of before although I wonder if the 'sky-rocket' comment was deliberately another clue? (M) 14) Difficult to think of a generic character that would be 80s specific that would not be classed as 'licensed'. Just wondering if this is one where we all know it is supposed to be a real person but given a generic name (e.g. Marty McFly - 'Time Traveller Teen'. Perhaps just a generic guy in 80s fashion like him (M) 15) Surely one to please the sci-fi fans. As there was an astronaut recently I am guessing this will be a new alien (M/F) 16) Another animal costume seems unlikely, given we know there will be a Butterfly Suit Girl but 'somewhat related' is a bit ambiguous. I will guess a vet or zoo keeper (M/F) Hopefully there will be a lot of good accessories, especially the possibility of some new animal moulds, although disappointed there don't seem to be any obvious music or sports figures.
9. Looks like a Highwayman to me. Would quite like it to be the Town Crier from Robert's own designs though!
10. I think that many have misinterpreted the catalogue's statement mentioning all 'unique' figures. I don't believe this implies there will not be any 'repeats' but that they are, as always, figures that have not appeared previously, even though they could possibly be a new take on a figure from previous series (e.g. a new alien, pirate...). Personally, I welcome 'repeats' as they provide new figures to fit in with existing themes so MOCs can feature a variety of figures.

10255 Assembly Square

Agreed. A 1 x 2 would be very useful. I'd also like to see a 2x2 and 3x3 curved 'pie' tile and the inverted corresponding pieces. It's not my favourite modular - a little too much colour against too many black pieces at the base and I'm not a fan of the fountain. It would be nice to have new torsos introduced too, rather than repeating those from Fun In The Park. Also disappointed that the parrot is not a blue version of the original parrot but a bit of a tie-dyed mess and this would have been a good opportunity to provide us with some Friends cutlery pieces in grey. I also wish they'd stop using the bulky flowers piece and go back to using the old flowers - some new plants and bushes wouldn't go amiss either. Hopefully there will also be some new musical instruments in CMFs to add to the ballet/arts studio. However, these comments are being ultra critical, The modular buildings are always great fun to build and a decent source of parts. I really like the dentist and chair in particular.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I didn't like the stickers in Palace Cinema and I don't really like vehicles in modular sets either. Jamie does a great job with giving us printed tiles and existing parts in new colours. I think a hospital wouldn't suit a modular as they are quite realistic about sizes in a street. A doctor's surgery would be great (although I'd like an opticians eye chart tile).

Lego Model of Rio

Nice but proof we need more diverse parts for trees and bushes. Didn't know they planted lots of Nordic Fir trees for the Olympics!!
14. Diner/Food Critic: Gender: Male (or Female) Torso print: Napkin tucked into collar Headgear: Fred's hair from Scooby Doo in brown Facial expression: Licking lips "mmm... delicious" Legs: to match the torso Accessory: The cutlery pieces from the Friends line in grey or silver (to be honest this is why I want this fig) and perhaps either a printed round tile with an English Breakfast or the Lobster Thermidor, as shown in the Lego Batman Movie trailer.

How is Series '3' coming along, Robert??!! ;-)

CMF Series 17 Guessing Game

Sorry for not making my original post clearer but what I meant was no named historical figures. Sure, both these looked like Julius Caesar and Cleopatra but they had different names. I therefore don't think the regular series would include actual people who exist/existed so don't think Da Vinci would be an option other than as part of any "The Lego Movie sequel series". However, my bet for the 'real' people in The Lego Movie sequel are Elvis and Einstein, although I still would like a "legofied" Mona Lisa printed tile!

CMF Series 17 Guessing Game

If we had Da Vinci then I would hope the painting would be a Lego-style Mona Lisa (to add to the Lego Girl With a Pearl Earring in the Museum Break-In set but hopefully not a sticker this time!) Not sure we'd get a historic figure in a regular series though. I think Lincoln and Shakespeare were an exception for The Lego Movie - hopefully we'll get Elvis and Einstein for the sequel!

CMF Series 17 Guessing Game

Some nice choices here, particularly as I always welcome new animal moulds. Hoping the toucan becomes a reality as I'd like to see more Amazon Rainforest MOCs (sloths too!) Always been quite jealous of Playmobil for having so many animals to choose from (including whole families with young offspring). An ornithologist will definitely be included at some point, I'm sure - just a case of which bird is included (binoculars a must too). Guess with the animals it is just a case of seeing which would be a reasonable size to fit in the bags - at least we know anything smaller than a pig is definitely possible.
20. I agree that the baby and wheelchair pieces were the main reason this set was so popular with collectors. Any similar sets in future would therefore need to include parts that would be just as attractive. I did suggest an annual zoo set instead, which could include a couple of new animal moulds (and possibly an existing mould like ostrich, camel, penguins) plus new torso prints for the visitors.
21. Could anyone in the UK advise whether orders on the Lego.com site are next day delivery? Many thanks

Lego.com Orders - delivery times

Thanks Captain Britain - that's disappointing. Hopefully the statue freebie set will be available at Lego Brand stores, as I won't be able to guarantee I'll be in to accept a delivery.

Letter Bricks

Hi All, Couldn't find a similar topic on the subject but have Lego ever released any letter/alphabet bricks or tiles? It would be quite a useful set of parts to have (I am thinking basic black font on a white background). Brick built letters are nice but there are often limits regarding size and shape. However, with the availability of newer moulds/pieces it would be good to have a thread where people showed off their lettering for ideas for different techniques regarding fonts and sizes.

Letter Bricks

Sorry for the confusion but I mean both. Just looking for ideas of how to portray different signs and wording on buildings. Printed tiles would be awesome if available (although I'd rather have black on white than the reverse that MAB linked). It would be cool for the thread to be used as a way of showing off letter forming skills, as there are some really creative builders here!
