Well, as a matter of fact, Initially I just wanted to replicate your model to put it on my "not-by-me-MOC-shelf". As I think yours is the perfect compromise between manageable scale and accuracy to the real thing. But then I was bothered by that gap and began looking at some reference pictures from the series. After that I decided I didn't want a dark grey underside, had some issues with the rear landing gear pods and from one thing came another. There's not much of your original left in my model. But it did inspire me to eventually come up with my own design. Thank you for that! .

Great looking ship so far! I guess I'm a bit too late with this since you progressed this much already but I actually designed a better solution for the stern than what I had for my previous ships. this is the hull of "La Beatrice" (new version of the Beatrix) (Sorry for the bad quality of the image)
-
That is one fantastic model! If you don't mind some feedback, I might have a good solution for the gap between the curved part of the bow and the rest of the fuselage. I suppose though most people aren't bothered by that gap at all .

I am flattered that my work inspired you, to see that oldie again brings back memories. I'm surprised you even copied the smoke effect. I must say it feels somewhat awkward seeing a ship so similar to my own . Well done. (For the interested; reference ship can be found here: Technic Pirate Ship)

Hello, saw my name popping up . By all means, go ahead, although I must say that that ship is an oldie, my ship-building skills and attention to realism have evolved over time. I see there's a lot of room for improvement looking back at it .

My very first creation in the Harry Potter universe. The moving staircase on itself wasn't much of a challenge. The moving balustrades were. Note that the port one already starts sliding inside the wall before the staircase begins moving. Additionally the starboard balustrade will only come out after the staircase began moving. (What? I'm used to building ships, don't staircases have port and starboard sides too?). All this is driven by a single mechanical system and I can tell you, this required a considerable amount of patience. I don't think I've ever experienced frustrations of this magnitude when building a lego creation before. You see, in the beginning, after a lot of fine tuning, it worked very smoothly. But as I finished it and wanted to start filming, the mechanism jammed all the time. Turns out the staircase was too heavy, which resulted in too much stress on the drive chain. I removed one step at a time until it worked again. The internals, for the interested, although there's not that much to see I'm afraid. Initially there was a corridor behind the door, with a width of 4 studs. But as the mechanism began jammed a lot when nearing completion, I had to remove it in order to supervise the mechanism below. I intend to expand this scene, I have learned a lot from this build and I'm sure I can overcome the limitations I came across. However, as this means I'll have to completely start over again, It won't be for the very near future. For the next version I want more platforms, so the staircase will actually lead somewhere. Those platforms should of course have moving balustrades of their own. As I see myself bringing this to exhibition events It would make sense to motorise the system so I can make it run continuously. And then maybe adding some other animations, such as moving portraits. It's all possible, I just need to learn how to do it .

Hahaha, as a matter in fact I do have no less than 6 WIP ships lying about, some of them are pretty old now. Unfortunately I don't see myself finishing them. I'm not so much into ships nowadays. Although there is one of these 6 that might get some attention on a good day... Oh I see. I meant to bring this set-up to the first coming event, whenever that is. The expanded version is for next year at the earliest.

Building a Supercar (Model Team style)
Sebeus I posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello, For my latest project I'm building a supercar bit by bit, building the separate components first before assembling them. Starting with the Carbon Fiber Monocoque Tub: This one was for a great part inspired by the McLaren MP4-12C chassis, that one is said to weigh less than 80 kilograms (). (And guess what, mine weighs even less! ) This one wil most likely undergo many changes in order to fit with, yet to build, components. I'm considering using a carbon "cage" instead of a "tub" for my car though. But I won't know for sure until I start on the bodywork. Next is the Driveline: A Twin Turbo 3.8L V8 with 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). I used some pictures from the Laferrari engine as reference. Without the intake manifold (those black plugs are where the rear half axles connect to the gearbox). I'm very satisfied with this component, It fits barely in the engine bay behind the tub though but I guess that's how it is supposed to be. If there was room to spare they would have just fitted in a bigger engine . Since I had these nice Ferrari stickers I might as well make this a Ferrari engine . That's it for now, perhaps I'll finish the next component tomorrow. -

I have designed two variants of side skirts. The first one is similar to the one I showed before, an add-on mounted under the chassis. The second one is a more incorporated design. There are some gaps in this one that I don't know how to fill yet. I also added brake and accelerator pedals, it required a small adjustment to the carbon fibre tub. My next plan is to revise the rear subframe and maybe try some different style bodywork. -
That sounds sceptic... I do hope the Covid measures won't last that long .

Duplo baseplates? Interesting idea. That tiger seems a bit out of place though, a leopard or cheetah would be more suitable.

To be honest I don't think there's much potential for any sailing ship to pass the review, now that we have Pirates of Barracuda Bay. I supported none the less, at least it is a signal that there is still a hunger for more pirate themed sets . -

Excellent, great job on that white and tan detail combo.

Hmmm, something like this perhaps? (Not in the right color yet, I'm out of red curved 1x10's). -

It is completed! And I put it on LEGO Ideas! As there's not much of the chassis to be seen on the outside, I have made a half bodywork variant. I hope you like it and don't forget to go press that 'support' button at LEGO Ideas! -

Thank you. For now it is just laying on top of the bonnet. But I am confident that, with the wide variety of modified bars and clip plates available nowadays, I will be able to attach it somehow. -

Ridiculous as it may sound, I had actually forgotten about this WIP. It has been 2 years since I started this model. At some point it ended up in a box on a shelf. Out of sight, out of mind I suppose. I'm glad I picked it up again, I have a couple of Ideas involving new parts that I didn't have two years ago. Anyway, it's nearing completion, the bodywork is very challenging but I'm getting there. I had to lose the mufflers in order to have some freedom to build a rear end I liked. I finally found a solution for the headlights that I'm satisfied with. It's funny how such a simple design could be so effective. I intend to finish it soon and I have a special feature in mind as a surprise . -
As it happens, another option unfolded itself back in November 2019. I purchased the Comete from Legostone in order to save it from certain destruction. As I was restoring it to its glorious state I couldn't help making some minor modifications . But I'll get to that later, let's show her off first. I felt tempted to do some changes on the sail plan. But as these are the original sails from Captain Greenhair's Build a Frigate Tutorial, I just couldn't do it, they have kind of a historical value, you know. (Knowing him he'd probably say; "to hell with that, loose the sails and make better ones!" . Ah, and there we have my first adaptation revealing itself. It's more of an add-on really. I thought there was room for that little bit more decorations on the stern and I also felt I needed to add something to distinguish this ship from its previous state. Note the addition of the pearl gold leaves to fill the rather large dark blue face. The skull ornament with crossed blades identifies this ship as a pirate vessel. The white stands out from the rest of the color scheme. Even I am not sure if it is really fitting. But it will do for now. Aside from the pirate crest I also added a scruffy-looking pirate crew of course. I changed most details on deck as I wasn't too fond of the tan. I replaced them with reddish brown alternatives. I can imagine Legostone wouldn't have done this as he would have refused any reddish brown on board . I replaced the capstan by a better looking but less functional one (it can't hold the bars). And you may notice I also moved the helm forwards. Which was needed to fit the small compartiment under the little roof. And that's about it, my other changes are hardly worth mentioning. I've been thinking about renaming the ship as well, after considering HMS Corona for a few seconds I decided to leave it at La Comete II.

[MOC] The HMS Colourless: Lovechild of Steamboat Willy and a Pirate Ship
Sebeus I replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
The black-white-gray color scheme works well, I guess less really is more. Nicely done. -
I wasn't going to post this initially but decided to do so anyway, It's going to take some time before it gets into the next stage. Windfall Island, as it was when I presented it at Lego World Copenhagen in Februari; I apologise for the quality of the pictures, the lighting on these events is rarely optimal for taking sharp pictures. One of the latest additions was the Firenze-style tower, which served as the most prominent and tallest building in the center of the town. It is however going to be replaced later. For the next time I exhibit the Island I'll be bringing smaller ships along, these big ones tend to obstruct the view. The northern cliffs, with the small soldier fortress on it, is currently being completely reworked into actual cliffs. The light bluish grey rocks were from the beginning a temporary solution to compensate for the lack of bricks and allow me to present a complete Island in the earlier phases. Time for some closer views . There are quite some rough edges still. I can tell you it's not evident to keep up the quality of a MOC this big, especially considering it has to be moved time from time. I don't know where that guy got his drink, the bar isn't finished yet. Good old Redbeard seems to have chosen this place to spend his retirement days. On this side I originally intended to have a complex structure of piers and scaffolding which I would have called 'Little Venice'. I'm not sure now if I'll ever build that part. The greatest challenge remains transport solutions. Well, I hope you like it. It might look quite different once finished. If you were interested in some of the ships part of this display, these can be found on this forum (some of them are quite old though); Christine, HMS Elizabeth, Red Beard Runner, HMS Marianne, Flying Dutchman, Piercing Flame, Raging Fire, Trading ship.

Hello gents, As I'm making progress on my Island town I am in need of a number of small ships. (smaller ships make the Island look bigger ). My latest one is actually based on an earlier model I built at Maxim's. It seemed fun to use the small ship from the classic set Imperial Trading Post as a reference. As you may notice that is where those beautiful sails come from. Anyway, I hope you like it, please support it on LEGO Ideas, if you have a minute . Note that helmsman has the original torso that was used in the set. Didn't they call that minifigure Steve or something? Choosing the colours for this model was quite challenging but I'm satisfied with its current colour scheme. Of course there should be a goat on board, how else would they be getting fresh goat milk? Just look at that, wouldn't you want one for your own? Perhaps that may be possible... When the project reaches 100 supporters, the deadline will be extended with a full year, in which it will have to gather a total of 10000 supporters in order to be considered as an official set. So get supporting! (But be careful when logging in, there seems to be some kind of bug).

I didn't finish the LDD but you can find its current state here. (Named Dancing Ember). I'm already working on so many other things I didn't bother to finish it. But you'll see the rear hinge plates that connect hull and sides. there should be a pair in front as well at the same height. I did something special on the aft, I might have a picture of that, I'll look.
