  1. Fantastic build. Great design. It makes it very life-like. I see lots of inspired elements ;-)
  2. How much force did you need to get the steering in the H-frame? Other than that, awesome looking car. Great job.
  3. Love what you are building here. So much functions in a tiny space. Even a gearbox, great! The engine looks nice too, as does the panel placement. Are you building to scale, or a blueprint, or just on the go?
  4. I would like to know this as well, does such thing exist?
  5. I know why my setup didnt shift properly, it was actually not enough resistance on the output axle. Strange, but so be it.
  6. Thank you, puzzled me. Yes, I like to build a car with a decent shifting mechanism, and this looks very promising :-)
  7. Can't figure out how you connected the tooth as well as the rod to the actual shifting paddle. Care to explain?
  8. I noticed the two outer yellow gearknobs, should be hold back by the red changeover catch while shifting. they should be in a 45 degree position to make a proper shift. They are not always hold back, but slip along the changeover catch, not creating enough movement to gear up or down. somehow they are not always returned to a 45 degree position after a shift... hope i am clear enough?
  9. So, what do you do while watching Le Mans 24 hours? You start building some racing stuff. I downloaded the porsche instructions and build the gearswitch part at the steering wheel. I can't get it to work for the life of me. Can someone confirm that the axle coming out underneath should rotate 90 degrees with each gearswitch? I tried some adjustments mentioned in the first post, but dont know what goes wrong. It just doesnt switch the middleaxle correct.
  10. Thanks for a great review. Pointing to the flaws in the design really made up my mind I'm not going to get it now, only if it will drop in price. (wont expect that). I really like the looks of this model, but the price is so high. And the most important thing, there is just nothing new in the technic department. A must for a ultimate technic car. Im actually amazed by myself i can say this. Im out.

    [MOC] Racing Prototype

Nice color combo, and great looking. Love the experimental suspension
  12. At least they look somewhat finished. Can't say that to 75% of my MOC's, that I usually break down...
  13. Great spotting. The video says its preliminary packaging design: The part-count is incorrect The book is repeating pages It's also clear that you need a lot of building steps for this set, which are clearly not present in the book in the video.
  14. Man this set looks great. I think orange is a great choice. A bit expensive though. Some questions about the new wheelhub: - Can it be driven? - Is it more at the center of the wheel? Building this will be a real pleasure. Looking forward to it.
  15. Purple would be amazing. It would require some serious courage from TLG, and for us to buy a purple lego porsche, but it would look so cool. Orange is the safe choice i guess.
  16. Why do you think it got canceled when you look at the model?
  17. So, to start filling my hangar, I present you my JFAIR build: A 9394 C-model: The X29 It has working landing gear, and the joystick controls both the front canard wings and the afterburner. This was a fun build, but actually not intended to just be a C-model. I started building a X-29 about a year ago, but I just couldn't work it out. Although i had some nice parts worked out, like the landing gear, the build was to complex for me. So, this is a more simplified model, and i'm happy with the result. 9394 has a very limited part range, so you just have to re-use some of the techniques from the A-model. Like you can see at the above bottom-shot. I wanted the front wheel below the cockpit, so getting in the landing gear and the joystick was a little tricky. Hope you like it. Edit: changed the set number, since it was obviously the wrong one, and I had a brainfart when putting this together...
  18. Thank you, much appreciated.
  19. Can you show the steering solution a bit better? Really curious about your solution. I might be able to use it for my own car.
  20. I hope, and expect, that this rumour is just humbug. No way that Lego would release a batman/tumbler set so soon after the UCS, just in a different theme. And indeed, i'm not to keen to pay € 300 or more for just a pile of black or very dark grey parts.
  21. 6: 10 16: 6 12: 4 5: 3 10: 2 9: 1 Amazing entries with a lot of different cranes. Some entries amaze me in quality and style/function. Well done.
  22. So far i'm not really convinced. Yes they are preliminary, so things can change, but right now i'm just seeing a whooooole lot of panels. And panels are not really my favorite part in lego technic. I hope the dragracer will turn out nice, right now, it looks really bad. (bad picture angle maybe?) The firetruck looks ok-ish. I will wait for some videos from Sariel for the final verdict. Maybe there are some nice hidden parts/functionality.
  23. I lived near the SS Rotterdam for a few years, it's a beautiful ship. So i would encourage you to build it, but also not to loose your mind ;-) I'm tinkering with a ship model myself, totaly different, in model and buildstyle. Maybe i will post something when i have some ideas to show. Building ship hulls is really a challenge, and I have no experience with it... Good luck.
  24. When i was 9, 10 and 11, lego released 8880, 8485 and 8480. Prices in those days for these kind of sets were around 300 gulden (before euro) and that was a heap of cash for my age. So, when i went to toys r us, they displayed these kind of sets, which in my eyes were huuuuuuges boxes of lego goodness. Never bought any of them. I guess that was also when my dark ages started a bit. 2 years ago i bought 8480 second hand, and it's amazing. Also, maybe 8043 and 41999.
