  1. Finally some progress. Although the tractor looks pretty much the same alot has changed. I wasn't too happy about about the previous version in terms of ground clearance and the way the steering worked with the servomotor. So I have converted it to a small motor with LA. This works quite well. Now I have to decide what I want to keep, PTO or a working three-point hitch, since there is no room to power them both.
  2. I'm totally not into helicopters but this looks awesome. Had to do a double take at the images, as I first thought it was the real thing.
  3. Interesting video you've posted above, never seen something like that before. About the tracked undercarriage, imo with more slack and sidecovers looks better. Mostly because of flat underside of the track and tensioning wheels on top. Perhaps raise the upper tension wheels or replace them with bigger wheels to get the track a little tighter?
  4. Doug, really amazing model. It has come a long way since the first version if you ask me. Functions have improved but I especially like the appearance of the entire crane.
  5. Really awesome truck. If only TLG would produce sets like these in a new 'model team' series. I would probably buy and build every set they would produce.. Are you (planning on) making instructions for this truck?
  6. Looking good Dough and the solutions you come up with are very clever
  7. Today I received a package with rather special components inside Been working on the implement which is going to be a forage chopper based on the Case IH FHX 300. Progress is slow. Was working with studded bricks but that turned out quite bulky. So I scrapped that idea and 'converted' to studless, which is turning out much better (pictures will follow later).

    Favorite/Inspirational Sci-Fi MOCs

Just looked through all the pictures in this thread and I must say these are all extremely nice in shape and looks. Normally I really don't care for LEGO space sets but these MOCs are fantastic. Especially love the creations with the huge wheels and rocket launcher. Aswell as the ice-planet monster truck
  9. Looking really nice, sturdy and compact Doug. The problem with the centering of the servo can be very tricky to solve especially in tight spaces. Caused me quite a few headaches in my first experience with the servo steering in my tractor.
  10. I like your additions on the Claas, especially the chrome exhaust stack Like the slurry tanker aswell but I think it could be (much) bigger for this tractor since it has not 500hp. However not bad for your first try!
  11. Looks promising Doug, curious to see how this will end up looking and working
  12. Turned out great, nice functions as well. I know it's not in the original set but this model would be even better if it was rc. But I respect the fact that you stay true to the c-model spirit in keeping it motorized with just one motor.
  13. Aah yes, there are rewards like this in every hobby and/or community (trust me, I know ).
  14. Nice to see you took the high road @Jim , probably best way to go regarding integrity and stuff like that
  15. @Splat so do you, or do you not think your image being used is fair use? If so, this discussion is over. If not, the admin(s) should remove the picture or replace it with another image of their own..
  16. Nice to see it moving Doug. I especially like how the undercarriage moves and steers, seems very life like. Looking forward to what you will come up with next. Mark.
  17. Nice progress so far, also am looking forward to more progress. Is there a topic of your Ahlmann?
  18. Did you also read the second part I wrote? Also, ofcourse LEGO should improve their products! Which they do btw. But what I was getting at is that, as @nerdsforprez said, LEGO is making changes to their products not (solely) for the AFOL but especially to please their main/largest audience. That audience probably does not care so much for perfect steering geometry, 7 or 8 speed gearbox and so on. And for the people who 'need' those features that's easy enough to install afterwards, I mean that's the part that AFOL enjoy right? At least i do.. Oh well, maybe i'm easier to please All in all I did not mean to upset anyone, i'm just glad I can enjoy this hobby and share it with other people. And if I like a model I might buy it, If I dont i'll leave it at the store. Not the end of the world
  19. Very unusual concept, never seen anything like it before. As said before, really nice build which captures the looks and functions of its real world counterpart very well.
  20. I think that, as suggested before me, indeed some AFOL are expecting (way) to much out of a building system that is/was intended as a toy. Don't get me wrong, I also rank a model with cool functions higher than one which has few, BUT if you want super detailed, mechanically 100% accurate representation of looks ánd functions, LEGO is not the toy for you. IMHO then you should consider real scale modeling, which can involve 3D printing, cnc-milling, casting of parts etcetera. For me LEGO is a hobby which I enjoy. And as time goes on my creations and the creations LEGO puts out get more advanced every year (okay, maybe not every year). But for me some level of compromise is always there with LEGO which doesn't bother me at all. Sure you can find things in the LEGO designs that could have been better but hey, that's easy enough to fix right?
  21. No progress on the tractor.. started working on something else
  22. Excellent C-model! I like it way better than the (sorry excuse of) the B-model LEGO made from the original set. This has much more functions and a higher playability level than the B-model front attachment.
  23. Can't really see on the pictures but are you using two motors to drive this vehicle? If so you could also consider to power each wheel with its own motor, that would reduce the need for a differential and would increase cornering abilities.
