[ MOC ] Modular LEGO Store!

Nice building and good work but unfortunately that wooden atrocity is a pain for my eyes.
  2. Excellent model! Next to all very well implemented functions and general look I really like the combination of studless and classic system bricks to use the best of both worlds in one model. Looking forward to the video.
  3. @nychase first post made by Doug gives you an overview what has been done. Up to you what you want to make and what not. Type 2 train and belt loader/lift unloader instructions from Akiyuki are fine unless you want to make changes needed in your final setup. Most mods have been made on the Rotary Dumper as the original one from Akiyuki does not work well. There is a digital file for the Rotary dumper in the first post but no steps. I was planning on making a building instruction of my version but didn't get to it yet, a lot of work. My version uses the Akiyuki lift for correct speed (so no worm gears), own bottom locking mechanism and counterweights. Worked very well on events in my total setup with my rechargeable train.
  4. Nice :) If you are planning on building the modules listed in this thread then part out and Train type 2 is the way to go. I've published a rechargeable Lithium type train BI, I have run these on events for multiple days without problems. Other than that I do not know of building instructions for modified type 2 trains, only mods on the original BI from Akiyuki like you mentioned. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-22734/BrickPolis/akiyuki-train-unit-rechargeable/
  5. Many 'answers' here but no alternatives given, here you go: 1/8 inch at McMaster Carr for U.S.A. 1/8 inch outer diameter (they don't ship to Europe), Flexible Nylon Opaque Tubing on this page in different colors: https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/168 e.g. black: https://www.mcmaster.com/5548k81 and Modulor Germany 3,2mm outer diameter: https://www.modulor.de/en/abs-round-tube-opaque-coloured.html Brass insert from Modular, recommended to use with these rigid hoses https://www.modulor.de/en/round-rod-brass-oe-1-5-l-1000.html But all in all with shipping also not cheap. From the U.S. I have no experience with, these from Modular are color-wise very good but are more rigid. This is a good thing if you want to keep them straight, less good if you need to make small bends. I also bought LEGO 32L 3mm rigid hose in bulk, these are still the best. If a hose is currently in a set available there is a big chance you can also buy it at LEGO Bricks & Pieces cheaper than with scavengers on BrickLink. I had build a prototype of this GBC with the Modular hoses but later decided to use 32L TLG hoses: This one has Modulor hoses in the outside ring of the Roulette to hold the headlight bricks together (can't see the hoses)
  6. @9v system Hi Aron, no problem. Please note the exit of the color sorter with all those 3mm hoses was hard to get right and didn't work 100% at events. I recommend a simpler exit. When I made it I was planning on maybe integrating it with the Ball Factory V3 to have a white and orange ball in the buckets when sorted but it never got to that. If events pickup I may try to make a color sorter based on PoweredUp for that purpose and try to visualize the sorting for the public through the app. Just let me know if you need help making the color sorter.
  7. That's half of the ball circle, would make things easier but intend to build the two circuits :) If for a reason I can't get the three blocks to tumble correctly this would also be an easier option. Thanks for posting!

    [MOC] Bakery & Toy Store

Congratulations with this excellent build, very nice and many good details!
  10. I designed and build this LEGO Store inspired by the largest LEGO Store in the world at Leicester square in London as I thought it was about time to add a LEGO Store to my modular collection of 22. Ground floor: Technic, City and on sale product shelves Tube train photo opportunity with Royal Guard, William Shakespeare and the Queen Tube train with tram driver and Charlie the Conductor Two story high Big Ben with Constable, Detective and Judge Brickley the Dragon Welcoming by Lester Counter with register and Lester polybags 1st floor Friends, Duplo and other product shelves Phone Box photo opportunity Pick and Build wall Play Table Stair case with LEGO Logo history View on the Big Ben and Brickley the Dragon, 2nd floor Overall the modular has been designed to keep the amount of bricks as low as possible through the use of panels and large bricks. The 2nd floor is not a fully utilized floor to keep the brick count below the 3000 maximum. It is designed to have optimal light conditions in the store through the use of more glass and contributes to the already open inside structure of the building. The roof has four studs on it so the store can easily be recognized as a LEGO store on satellite map images :) If the brick count restriction would not apply I imagine the top floor could well be a shop for tea/coffee with cupcakes and a terrace to enjoy. If it reaches 10.000 votes on LEGO Ideas but is not approved by LEGO I will publish a free building instruction and parts list. I have a Studio design and as you can see it can be build in real bricks. So please vote if you like it :) LEGO Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/e015f9c8-3faf-4308-b8ed-b5e09c6ebcef High resolution Flick album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/r53/albums/72157690132930563 A picture overview: Free building instructions, decal sheet and parts list on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-54534/BrickPolis/the-lego-store-leicester-square/

  12. @Frequenzberater I'm still waiting for B&P parts but looking back they should have arrived by now. I will give customer service a call tomorrow.
  13. @OverlandSailor I didn't make plans for the mouse and replaced it with the PF Wall-E years ago, sorry.
  14. After my Rainbow Wave it was time for something different. Inspired by the Paternoster in the Wall-E movie I wanted to create something like that as a LEGO GBC. I kept the in box as low as possible for reasons I will reveal later. As a result of that the ball pickup after the ball release from the buckets is just 1 brick high. Hope you like it:

    [MOC] Octan Avenue

Nice building with nice details and references! I don't understand the alley as this means both small buildings must have stairs inside which always take a lot of space in a modular. Some stairs flip to create room but still. The renders are very good, almost real. Therefore I think you should state somewhere that this is a digital building which cannot be build with LEGO bricks as bricks in certain colors that do not exist in LEGO are used e.g. the white masonry brick.
  16. I have 4 running projects because it takes 6 weeks before they ship. Can't do without building so I start something new when waiting.

[MOC] LEGO Store Leicester Square Modular

It almost reached 5000 votes but I have deleted it from Ideas. To be honest, can't justify it for myself to keep it there looking at other entries that get close to or reach 10.000 votes. Ideas prohibits commercial use of a design until after three years of a submission end, even when deleted. Since I'm always offering building instructions for free I don't see a problem in making instructions and a parts list in the future so I will do so.
  18. @Lego_GBC_NL I don't see anything wrong with the chains but make sure the bucket shifter runs very smooth otherwise forces are too high. May be you need to complete all of the rigid structure too. I updated the instructions some time ago when it comes to the bucket shifter amplitude so make sure you have the latest version.
  19. I know that module but was already planning to make the original container transporter mechanical before Riku posted his module. The module from Riku has 4 phases as it turns all containers holders at once and for me personally his version is too far away from the Akiyuki version when it comes to design and function. Nevertheless an excellent and admirable effort from Riku as this is really not easy to do. The fact that the mechanical master himself has decided to use an EV3 should point out clearly that it is very hard to make this module 100% mechanical. I'm very pleased with my control box, it gave me headaches for many evenings but am fully confident it will work. All 8 phases are exactly the same as the original version and I have changed the original module in such way that it has no worm gears and have left out a few heavy springs, it runs super light. I also tried to make it pleasing to watch by putting the control box in front of the module and work with colors. Orange for switch, yellow for timing, red for drive.
  20. A LUG is the best option for original LEGO balls but takes a lot of time and no guarantee they make the list. LEGO Bricks and Pieces has the orange balls far cheaper than any LEGO speculator on BrickLink. An option if you want to spend more money wanting genuine LEGO balls but as 'cheap' as possible.
  21. Here is also some mechanics, I'm almost done with creating a mechanical control box for the Container Transporter. So NO EV3. One motor, 4 speeds, 3 drive axles, 8 different timing moments. Something different than '100 or so' unused gears for a Bugatti or Lamborghini. Will be fully testing it when hooked up to the module but I expect no problems. Click to see the video.
  22. This very much depends on your building style and color preference. Just look at parts lists of modules you want to build and build up stock of the parts that are most used but there will always be parts you don't have that will cause delay (Murphy's law).
  23. Look at the reviews of Sariel to help to make up your mind. I've bought two 42055 for parts when they were available at 50% discount but didn't find it appealing enough to actually build.
