Kids aren't watching tv the same way they used to- they're either just stuck on their ipads watching youtube, or they're streaming- in which case they're watching a lot of the older shows. It's not the same franchise but there was that famous article recently where they interviewed a bunch of kids about star wars and one said something like "I don't watch anything that came out after I was born". Lego DC needs a successful DCU to come back, at least in lego's eyes. And given Supergirl's projections, I wouldn't count on it. Though one thing I don't get is how lego hasn't tried to do a few sets based off the Reeves movies. I'm not saying I want a Quest for Peace wave, but there's nothing for the first two? Superman ll is spoken of the same way people talk about batman 1989 or the original star wars trilogy, it's got the same nostalgia factor, it feels like it's right up lego's alley for a DC set. Quote

I don’t remember any Batmobiles in Superman and Superman II . In all seriousness though, I don’t think those films have quite the same appeal the Batman ones have had. Still hoping that we get a MoT set next summer. That is a much safer bet IMO, so hopefully LEGO listened to all of us last summer (and David Corenswet himself) about giving us a LEGO DCU Superman Minifigure.. Quote

Yeah, I'd hesitate to give them credit for this one given they barely did anything for superman and at this point I'm not even sure if The Batman Part ll will get sets, but given just how poorly the movie is tracking, you could definitely say they dodged a bullet here. Which, just... man, I do not understand this movie or the overall DCU plan here. What... what are we doing? What exec thought any of this was a good idea to follow up their first movie in their uphill battle with this? Who approved the popcorn bucket? (Which I know seems minor but honestly is a microcasm with my issues of this type of storymaking attitude in the first place) Quote

They’re likely looking at the results of Superman 2025 more than anything else. We typically get 5-6 sets per year with one set being $200+. We already know two for next year. I’m predicting that the other four will be: - a set for Man of Tomorrow, probably Brainiac’s spaceship, with Superman, Lex, and Brainiac. - two sets for The Batman part 2. One will probably be an updated Batcave and the other either a remake of the Batmobile or another vehicle altogether. Spoiler It sounds like Two Face and maybe Zsasz are the main villains, so I could see them being split between the two sets. Alfred will probably be in the Batcave and Gordon could be in either. Allegedly Catwoman isn’t in it and Penguin only has a small role so I could see him being skipped. Riddler and Joker could also be skipped depending on how much time they have if they’re even in the movie. If there’s any other villains, and Reeves teased the main villain hadn’t really been done before, so there may be more or he may have been talking about Zsasz, but I could see anyone else potentially being included. Not sure what role Scarlet Johansson is playing but she could also be in it. - the large set will probably also be a large-scale Batmobile, probably based on The Batman given that seems to be the most popular one that hasn’t been done at that scale yet. Plus, that way it could serve as a third tie-in for The Batman part II. I doubt we’ll get much in the way of new minifigures given Lego will probably be extra focused on older Marvel content between Doomsday and Secret Wars. So I wouldn’t count on a modular building for DC and I’d be surprised if we got more than the bare bones in whatever movie tie-in sets we do get. Quote

I would think if the show was kid-friendly enough for lego to make normal sets for it would lose too much of what makes most people like that elseworld. cosmic Posted June 28 Posted June 28 The wings from the Arkham Statue seem to be available on PAB and should work wonderfully for both Hawkgirl and Hawkman. I've seen so many reference images and it does seem like the classic Hawks had grey wings so the Hawkgirl figure we have would do well with this piece. We also have a few interesting orange nougat hair pieces on the market now. I never did like Hawkgi with her helmet and being able to customize her figure is very exciting. I really hope they don't cancel this License and choose to do something with it. I understand DC movies are trash but I can't help but think the idea the company is doing the most they can is a little ridiculous, and it does feel like they lowball the theme. Like look at how many new molds are being introduced right now in both Fortnite and One Piece. So many characters in both themes have leg printing and a few even got arm printing. Sure they don't really have dual molding but the figures are still at a considerably higher standard than DC's. Star Wars fans sometimes complain about their figure quality but look at their Tuskan Raiders!! Even the figs that did NOT need new molds got new molds! Lego DC could never! When is the last time we got a new mold? That new Batman cowl! Laughable!! The gap between the cowl and the cape is much more distinct than on previous figures because he does not have a black head, so there is no transition from his cowl to the cape its cut off awkwardly with Batmans human flesh poking out of what should be his costume. It looks awful. So many characters that did not get leg printing or new molds over the years with this theme, Batgirl namely sticks out. Sure she got it in TLBM but never in DC has Batgirl had her boots printed on, nor have we gotten a cowl mold for her since 2014!!! The Rebirth design where they gave her the Black Widow hair, is based off of a design where yes the Bat ears are faint and smaller poling through her hair in comparison to other cowls, but she still had Bat ears there and could have used a new piece. That Rebirth design is not just hair flowing, she has a pair of tiny blue ears poling through and I wish we got a piece for that! On that note I cringe at the thought of all the figures who had low quality detailing who may never get a revamped figure to do them justice (nonpun intended). Firestorm is na easy fix because we do have dual molded legs that work for him, but we'll never get the printing. sadly years later, still no legs exist for Reverse Flash.... and sadder still is that our only comic accurate Cheetah from post crisis (Barbara Minerva) has no arm or tail detailing and the only way to fix this is to swap her arms for ones that aren't even the same tone!! Think of all the DC figures that would have done well to get the attention to detail this company has proven they can work with. And now think of all the ones they haven't released, but will probably do poorly. Also looking at how so many Lord of the Rings sets predict the ones that come after, I am realllllyyyyy hoping our next Modular will be the Daily Planet. Huge fan, really hope to see more Superman in Lego. And now that Two Face has that new hair piece they don't have to cheap out on Metallo and can give us a gnarly Metallo figure with half human half Robot transformation. If the CMF rumors are true and we're getting a Crab monster then we can get a claw piece for Parasite, and the Superman villains can have the attention to detail they deserve. Quote

I think this one illustrates it the most with how it fundamentally prevents you from using the arms, but why couldn't they have done this with a cloth piece? So with Supergirl performing worse than Morbius (Though, can you really blame it for doing worse than the greatest superhero movie of all time?) at the box office, I think it's safe to say that lego is not going to be looking to go all-in on the DCU. I was thinking about how the DCU could have avoided this- (I just really don't think "M-rated suicide squad parallel cartoon" - "superman" - "season 2 of an M-rated suicide squad spinoff show from the previous universe" - "supergirl" was the right move), and thought it would be interesting to ask you guys what you would have done if you'd been handed the keys, maybe in a manner that produced some projects lego might be more confident in making sets for. Here's what I would have done (in spoiler for space): Spoiler First of all, immediately cancel the flash. I refuse to believe that they thought that movie was going to turn out well. Use it as a tax write off and offer Sasha Calle a role in another project. Depending on how far along Blue Beetle and Batgirl actually were, you may still be able to release them marketed as elseworlds movies or just dump them on streaming, but Flash cannot see release, both for the reputational damage it'll do to the brand and the complete nonsense of the timeline stuff that will only serve to confuse anyone who does watch it. I think Black Adam released slightly before Gunn took over so that post-credits scene is still there, but it's fine, nobody remembered that movie two days after release anyway. You do unfortunately have to let Henry Cavill go as the main universe superman still, I think- but for a fully clean slate. We're not bringing ANYONE back in the main universe. But the guy has such intense knowledge of and respect for his source material that it literally got him fired off the witcher, so I'd bring him on to help with whatever superman film does get made. I also think a Cavill Superman film would work well upon the way I'd be marketing the next Pattinson Batman film: as an elseworlds story. And while I get the appeal of the "we're going to make whatever has the best scripts first" story, I don't think it works for a cinematic universe. That needs planning, it needs a schedule, and while maybe a bit blunt, if supergirl is one of those "best scripts" I don't think the benefit is really there either. And then this would be the First Act schedule for the actual DCU: May 2026: A Job for Superman: Not an origin story in the standard sense- everyone knows the basics, no flashbacks- but this is very much a story about superman becoming superman. He starts the movie rescuing cats from trees and stopping bank robbers, but in a way that nobody gets a good look at him or even that a person came and helped out. And of course not in uniform. In his day job he works at the Daily Planet with Lois, a young Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White- and of course often covers his childhood friend Lex Luthor's technological innovations. Lois is convinced there's some sort of super-human out there helping people. Over the course of the movie, Lobo arrives hunting a criminal that's hiding in Metropolis. Superman initially stays out of the way of the battle, simply trying to limit collateral damage without being seen- but after Lobo wins, seemingly has no intention to leave earth, and wipes the floor with the police, he decides to finally reveal himself. He goes to the fortress, gets the pep talk from Jor-El, puts on the suit, and flies to metropolis. Lex- in an early suit of power armor- and some Lexcorp mercenaries are trying to stop Lobo but severely outclassed. When Superman arrives Lobo reveals he was sticking around specifically to draw out his real target- the last kryptonian. He manages put up enough of a fight that Lobo agrees to head off earth when Superman tries to convince him, and it ends with him now openly flying around stopping crimes, saving cats, that sort of thing. The first post credits is Clark interviewing Lex about his role in the fight between Superman and Lobo. Lex now blames Superman for Lobo coming to earth, and says there's no difference between Supes and Lobo- immensely powerful beings who could destroy the world if they felt like it, with nothing humanity could do. He vows that he'll find a way to make sure humanity can stop superman, as the camera pans across his lab to a vial of blood labeled BZ-1. The second post-credits is more comedic, with Lois interviewing superman. She at one point compares him to batman "if he was nice... and real." October 2026: The Batman of Gotham: Batman has been operating in a gothic, almost fantastical Gotham for about three years now, a true thorn in the side of the mob. In the opening action scene, after the Flying Graysons are killed, Batman appears and chases down the mobsters, managing to nab a Falcone family member. After this, he meets with Gordon and Harvey Dent, the latter of whom believes he'll actually be able to get a conviction. Scarecrow- in the full Long-Halloween-esque, gothic scarecrow outfit- appears to a jumpy and losing mob, proposing that he'll kill batman for them in exchange for various chemicals they get out of their drug trade, as well as the occasional kidnapping victim to test on. Batman has a few run-ins with Soloman Grundy, a being that arose from the swamp Scarecrow was experimenting in, but towards the start of the final act he manages to make peace with him and allows him to live in the cave system around the batcave. Much of the final act focuses on a fear-gassed batman's nightmare hallucinations, which primarily focus on his fears of becoming a killer or a monster. Batman defeats Scarecrow (who we never see outside of his costume) and stems the flow of the mob, though they of course are still around. At the end of the movie, Bruce adopts 12 year old Dick Grayson at Alfred's urging. The first post-credits is a split between Falcone and Maroni, each of them giving overlapping speeches about how the only way to stop that bat freak is with more freaks, ordering their goons to find or make some and giving us plenty of cameos of upcoming villains. The second is a more comedic one taking place a month later, in which Alfred brings two full, cooked turkeys into the lower levels of the cave for Grundy as a thanksgiving dinner before coming up to the main batcave, where Bruce is reluctantly agreeing to train a very enthusiastic Robin. November/December 2026: Detective Comics Presents: John Jones: A grounded detective story following police detective John Jones in his classic human form, who at times shapeshifts into different identities to gather information or blend in. Basically a detective story in which 2-4 different guys are playing the main character. He doesn't use his other powers in full until the final episode, when he fights the White Martian serial killer he'd been hunting in his true form. The final scene is him meeting Bruce Wayne, where the two of them show they know who the other is. Bruce offers to fund John in a full-time investigation of the white martians, and John accepts. The post-credits scene shows a man in a blue trenchcoat walking through the street, and as he looks in a store window, we see he doesn't seem to have a face. A final card tells us "Next season, Detective Comics presents The Question." May 2027: The Flash: A lighthearted story about Barry, who's been a forensic scientist for about five years but woke up from his coma as The Flash about a month ago. After Leonard Snart and his rogues (everyone we know, but only Snart has his tech) steal a prototype cold gun from a STAR Labs truck, Barry has to stop them from a heist in which they plan on stealing all the tech and weapons held within the building. This version of the flash isn't as overpowered as others- it takes him some distance to build up to full speed, so while still very fast he can't just blitz across the room with no warning, at least not yet. His mother's death is referenced, but his father isn't in prison for it. This Barry is also not just-past-his-teens like the others, he's more of batman's peer than his son. Which brings us to the first post credits- Batman watching STAR Labs security footage in the batcave and starting a file on Flash. The second post-credits is Snart grousing in prison as Mic Rory argues with a guard that they aren't metahumans and should be in a normal jail, not Belle Reve. October/November 2027: Detective Comics Presents: The Question: A new season of the Detective Comics anthology series, following The Question as he tries to solve a conspiracy and find the secret government program trying to create metahumans. There's slightly more of a comedic element- The Question sees conspiracies everywhere, even some ridiculous ones- but it's still the most grounded entry in the verse. In the final scene, much like in the first season, Batman appears to give question an offer, but Question waves him off, refusing to work for anyone, and says he knows it's really Lex Luthor under that mask. The post-credits scene is Question looking at a new conspiracy board before an arrow pins his hat to it and we get the final card "Next season, Detective Comics presents The Huntress and Question." December 2027: Wonder Woman: God of war. We're doing god of war. What brings wonder woman to man's world (a vague reference is made to her having snuck out in the 40s but was brought back by her mother a short time later) is the queen's discovery that several of the greek gods are now acting through avatars in the human world, trying to eke out new feifdoms/worships. Wonder Woman finds out about this and decides to leave the home of the amazons once more, despite her mother warning her that she won't be allowed back this time. She takes out Dionysus, Aphrodite, convinces Janus to return to the realm of the gods, and at the end of her gauntlet fights Artemis's avatar. During the movie she's aided by one agent Steve Trevor lll, the grandson of a man she fought alongside the first time she left the island, who helps her discover a world she's only previously seen the battlefields of. (Though they aren't romantically interested in eachother- he jokingly calls her grandma.) The movie ends with her deciding she's going to try and enjoy her new life in the larger world. The first post-credits is an excited Superman hanging out with her, ecstatic to have somebody with similar powers around. The second is batman arguing with alfred that he works alone and he's not going to go see this amazon woman, to which Robin pops up and points out that he doesn't. March-May 2028: Green Lantern Corps: Test pilot Hal Jordan is driving back from dinner with his friend Barry when he's abducted from his car by aliens. Similarly, architect and veteran Jon Stewart is teleported out of his workplace, and gym teacher Guy Gardner laughs as he's beamed up mid-shouting match with his principal. The three are taken to Oa to train as lanterns, with the training forming the majority of the show. It's sci-fi, got some comedy in it, and at times parodies other academy type shows. We learn that the guardians need to replenish their ranks because of a war with the Red Lanterns that concluded shortly before their abduction, and various other lanterns form the supporting cast. (Guy is very upset because the squirrel that Kilowag accidentally picked up while abducting him is somehow outperforming him in classes.) Towards the end of the series, the Earth lanterns learn that the Guardians know White Martians are infiltrating and preparing to invade earth. The three of them were recruited because they're planning on quarantining the system and letting the White Martians take it, and wanted to grab any potential GL candidates from earth before doing so. The guardians are not happy that they've discovered this and forbid them from returning to earth. In the end, with the help of one of their instructors, Sinestro, Hal escapes to earth, Guy is caught and put on probation, and Jon acts as if he's on the guardians side, receiving his assignment for another sector when he actually agrees with Hal and is ready to intervene when the time comes. We end by seeing Sinestro open up a yellow ring (because yeah, obviously he's evil, the show doesn't insult the viewers' intelligence by pretending otherwise). The post credits scene is Hal arriving on earth and being greeted by Flash, before they realize who the other is and high five. May 2028: Justice League of America: Unlike the previous entries, this one is actually (loosely) adapting a specific comic, that being Justice League: Origin, with the main difference being that White Martians are invading earth, not Darkseid's army. GL: "Yea he's over there" It follows a similar structure that starts with Batman and Lantern finding a white martian and the other leaguers joining over the course of the first act, including the introduction of Cyborg. The final team is Batman (who obviously did not bring Robin into a war), Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg. Aside from Cyborg getting his arc, there's a big focus on the character interactions- Batman and Superman's friendship starting up despite Batman trying to be standoffish, Superman and Wonder Woman's friendship, hinting at a potential Wonder Woman/Batman romance, Barry and Hal's friendship, etc. The movie ends with Batman having purchased the now-hall of justice and the league forming. The first post-credits scene is Jon coming to Earth, telling Hal that the guardians congratulate him for defeating the white martians and have assigned him as the sector's other lantern. The second is Lex Luthor pretty much crashing out at how many superhumans there now are. (There would be more content in 2028, but it's part of the second act. Basically a detective story in which 2-4 different guys are playing the main character. He doesn't use his other powers in full until the final episode, when he fights the White Martian serial killer he'd been hunting in his true form. The final scene is him meeting Bruce Wayne, where the two of them show they know who the other is. Bruce offers to fund John in a full-time investigation of the white martians, and John accepts. The post-credits scene shows a man in a blue trenchcoat walking through the street, and as he looks in a store window, we see he doesn't seem to have a face. A final card tells us "Next season, Detective Comics presents The Question." May 2027: The Flash: A lighthearted story about Barry, who's been a forensic scientist for about five years but woke up from his coma as The Flash about a month ago. After Leonard Snart and his rogues (everyone we know, but only Snart has his tech) steal a prototype cold gun from a STAR Labs truck, Barry has to stop them from a heist in which they plan on stealing all the tech and weapons held within the building. This version of the flash isn't as overpowered as others- it takes him some distance to build up to full speed, so while still very fast he can't just blitz across the room with no warning, at least not yet. His mother's death is referenced, but his father isn't in prison for it. This Barry is also not just-past-his-teens like the others, he's more of batman's peer than his son. Which brings us to the first post credits- Batman watching STAR Labs security footage in the batcave and starting a file on Flash. The second post-credits is Snart grousing in prison as Mic Rory argues with a guard that they aren't metahumans and should be in a normal jail, not Belle Reve. October/November 2027: Detective Comics Presents: The Question: A new season of the Detective Comics anthology series, following The Question as he tries to solve a conspiracy and find the secret government program trying to create metahumans. There's slightly more of a comedic element- The Question sees conspiracies everywhere, even some ridiculous ones- but it's still the most grounded entry in the verse. In the final scene, much like in the first season, Batman appears to give question an offer, but Question waves him off, refusing to work for anyone, and says he knows it's really Lex Luthor under that mask. Wonder Woman finds out about this and decides to leave the home of the amazons once more, despite her mother warning her that she won't be allowed back this time. She takes out Dionysus, Aphrodite, convinces Janus to return to the realm of the gods, and at the end of her gauntlet fights Artemis's avatar. During the movie she's aided by one agent Steve Trevor lll, the grandson of a man she fought alongside the first time she left the island, who helps her discover a world she's only previously seen the battlefields of. (Though they aren't romantically interested in eachother- he jokingly calls her grandma.) The movie ends with her deciding she's going to try and enjoy her new life in the larger world. The first post-credits is an excited Superman hanging out with her, ecstatic to have somebody with similar powers around. The second is batman arguing with alfred that he works alone and he's not going to go see this amazon woman, to which Robin pops up and points out that he doesn't. March-May 2028: Green Lantern Corps: Test pilot Hal Jordan is driving back from dinner with his friend Barry when he's abducted from his car by aliens. Similarly, architect and veteran Jon Stewart is teleported out of his workplace, and gym teacher Guy Gardner laughs as he's beamed up mid-shouting match with his principal. The three are taken to Oa to train as lanterns, with the training forming the majority of the show. It's sci-fi, got some comedy in it, and at times parodies other academy type shows. We learn that the guardians need to replenish their ranks because of a war with the Red Lanterns that concluded shortly before their abduction, and various other lanterns form the supporting cast. (Guy is very upset because the squirrel that Kilowag accidentally picked up while abducting him is somehow outperforming him in classes.) Towards the end of the series, the Earth lanterns learn that the Guardians know White Martians are infiltrating and preparing to invade earth. The three of them were recruited because they're planning on quarantining the system and letting the White Martians take it, and wanted to grab any potential GL candidates from earth before doing so. The guardians are not happy that they've discovered this and forbid them from returning to earth. In the end, with the help of one of their instructors, Sinestro, Hal escapes to earth, Guy is caught and put on probation, and Jon acts as if he's on the guardians side, receiving his assignment for another sector when he actually agrees with Hal and is ready to intervene when the time comes. We end by seeing Sinestro open up a yellow ring (because yeah, obviously he's evil, the show doesn't insult the viewers' intelligence by pretending otherwise). My timeline is a bit different to yours but I agree in the sense that the focus on obscure characters and R-rating (in the movies at least) is not sustainable for generating long term engagement in the universe. My principles are the movies should be more character driven and the shows focused more on world building. I also don’t really blame Gunn for putting DCU Batman on the back burner because the Reeves-verse is ongoing, but ignoring WW and Flash completely is just stupid. Your idea of the JL’s first encounter with Batman being a homage to New 52/ JL War is something I’d really like to see too. It’s just too funny. What I don’t want to see is the Hal Jordan Parademon beat down. Spoiler Chapter 1: Golden Age 2025 Movie: Keep Superman as it is but cast someone younger as Guy Gardner and replace the Peacemaker cameo with Booster Gold. It was a excellent movie and I think that Gunn’s right in a hopeful Superman needing to be the bedrock of this universe. 2025 series: Booster Gold - really delves into the corporate side of the universe. What brings wonder woman to man's world (a vague reference is made to her having snuck out in the 40s but was brought back by her mother a short time later) is the queen's discovery that several of the greek gods are now acting through avatars in the human world, trying to eke out new feifdoms/worships. Wonder Woman finds out about this and decides to leave the home of the amazons once more, despite her mother warning her that she won't be allowed back this time. She takes out Dionysus, Aphrodite, convinces Janus to return to the realm of the gods, and at the end of her gauntlet fights Artemis's avatar. During the movie she's aided by one agent Steve Trevor lll, the grandson of a man she fought alongside the first time she left the island, who helps her discover a world she's only previously seen the battlefields of. (Though they aren't romantically interested in eachother- he jokingly calls her grandma.) The movie ends with her deciding she's going to try and enjoy her new life in the larger world. The first post-credits is an excited Superman hanging out with her, ecstatic to have somebody with similar powers around. The second is batman arguing with alfred that he works alone and he's not going to go see this amazon woman, to which Robin pops up and points out that he doesn't. March-May 2028: Green Lantern Corps: Test pilot Hal Jordan is driving back from dinner with his friend Barry when he's abducted from his car by aliens. Similarly, architect and veteran Jon Stewart is teleported out of his workplace, and gym teacher Guy Gardner laughs as he's beamed up mid-shouting match with his principal. The three are taken to Oa to train as lanterns, with the training forming the majority of the show. It's sci-fi, got some comedy in it, and at times parodies other academy type shows. We learn that the guardians need to replenish their ranks because of a war with the Red Lanterns that concluded shortly before their abduction, and various other lanterns form the supporting cast. (Guy is very upset because the squirrel that Kilowag accidentally picked up while abducting him is somehow outperforming him in classes.) Towards the end of the series, the Earth lanterns learn that the Guardians know White Martians are infiltrating and preparing to invade earth. The three of them were recruited because they're planning on quarantining the system and letting the White Martians take it, and wanted to grab any potential GL candidates from earth before doing so. The guardians are not happy that they've discovered this and forbid them from returning to earth. In the end, with the help of one of their instructors, Sinestro, Hal escapes to earth, Guy is caught and put on probation, and Jon acts as if he's on the guardians side, receiving his assignment for another sector when he actually agrees with Hal and is ready to intervene when the time comes. We end by seeing Sinestro open up a yellow ring (because yeah, obviously he's evil, the show doesn't insult the viewers' intelligence by pretending otherwise). The post credits scene is Hal arriving on earth and being greeted by Flash, before they realize who the other is and high five. May 2028: Justice League of America: Unlike the previous entries, this one is actually (loosely) adapting a specific comic, that being Justice League: Origin, with the main difference being that White Martians are invading earth, not Darkseid's army. This may in part be because I need it to adapt in live action the best moment in any DC Project ever, from the cartoon adaption of that comic: GL: "Flash, my boy, great to see you! Oh yeah and that's batman" Flash: "Batman's REAL?" GL: "Yea he's over there" It follows a similar structure that starts with Batman and Lantern finding a white martian and the other leaguers joining over the course of the first act, including the introduction of Cyborg. The final team is Batman (who obviously did not bring Robin into a war), Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg. Aside from Cyborg getting his arc, there's a big focus on the character interactions- Batman and Superman's friendship starting up despite Batman trying to be standoffish, Superman and Wonder Woman's friendship, hinting at a potential Wonder Woman/Batman romance, Barry and Hal's friendship, etc. The movie ends with Batman having purchased the now-hall of justice and the league forming. The first post-credits scene is Jon coming to Earth, telling Hal that the guardians congratulate him for defeating the white martians and have assigned him as the sector's other lantern. The second is Lex Luthor pretty much crashing out at how many superhumans there now are. (There would be more content in 2028, but it's part of the second act. That second act would have a lot of sequels for act one movies and shows, some new projects with an Aquaman movie and Zatanna/Dr. Fate + blue beetle/booster gold shows, and culminate in Justice League International.) Probably controversial, but I would have axed the Reeves universe. Having to wait for him to finish his saga until the DCU can introduce his Batman is going to come back to bite them in the behind. I also really hated The Batman, so I might just be biased. I also would have axed The Flash if given the chance, but I honestly doubt the suits at WB would have gone along with that given how much money was spent on the film. As far as the content we’ve gotten from the DCU and the Supergirl situation, I don’t think I would have done things much differently. I think the bigger issues are 1) audiences just aren’t going to the movies due to high prices and the ease of streaming and 2) superhero movies have an especially hard time given how over saturated the market has been with them for the past two decade. Only superhero movies that really connect with the audience are going to make it and honestly it’s a crapshoot which ones will and won’t. Supergirl obviously didn’t, but I don’t think it’s because the film is bad because it really isn’t. But it’s a fairly average superhero movie released at a time when that simply doesn’t cut it. Releasing it right after Toy Story 5 was also a massive mistake. As far as how this affects the Lego situation, I don’t think it will. Lego has already reached the conclusion that the bigger issues name superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man are going to sell and anyone outside of them likely won’t. This probably reinforces that belief, but it’s been their mode of operation for a while now. As far as Superman is concerned, he’s big enough and his last movie did well enough that they may take another shot on him when his next movie comes out, but I wouldn’t expect more than a single set. I feel like the superhero cinematic universe is a dead medium, DC got into the game too late both times. At this point the only Marvel movies that make money are the ones playing off pre-MCU nostalgia or Spider-Man films, they pretty much cornered the market on this from 2012 onwards, if they're struggling making generic superhero movies that build towards crossovers its probably just a losing battle. I think these inherently become impenetrable at a certain point causing the audience to plateau, they're all very stuck in the 2010s stylistically which is millennial cringe now, and streaming really did the final blow. No-one wants to go out for homework movies that they can get for free in 4 months tops and the ugly, flat, grey visuals capeshit is locked to now just screams streaming slop to the GA. If they wanted a new one I think they needed to play it down. Do a couple, actually standalone, Superman movies + the Reeves stuff for a bit then expand outwards if the Superman films were a viable brand on their own. I think audiences can smell when something is trying to sell them a streaming spin-off at this point Quote

Rebirth, Corps War and Blackest Night) 2032 Movie: Justice League International I agree in general (and world building is how my GL show ended up), but I actually think you want most of the worldbuilding heavy lifting in the movies and the shows to be about B-tier characters that are clearly not "homework" for the movies. Hence why I was doing detective comics as the main one (which also lets them have much lower budgets). And yeah, not doing anything for WW or Flash is a generational fumble. I say this later on but supergirl's really illustrated the issue with the "whatever has the best script" approach- if you thought supergirl had the best script, at that point just do WW with whatever script it had and you'd make more off her being a more famous character. I think it's a great origin story for the league, especially the interactions between Hal/Batman/Superman/Flash early on. I actually WOULD want to see the Hal Jordan parademon beat down, not just because while brutal for Hal it's funny, but because him getting his arm broken and then having to rally the league is a pretty badass bit of character development for him. Hal is a character that I think the GA needs some more prodding to like, unlike the trinity or inherently likeable Flash, so putting him on the backfoot and having him step up would go a long way. Pretty solid lineup, definitely drops the audience into a wider universe from the start, but that allows you to tell a lot more stories. I think it's an inspired gamble- while there's a risk of turning people off, I think you can trust the audience to grasp the general concept of a universe already full of superheroes, and the standalone nature of a lot of those projects helps spread the risk in case one fails, or let you adapt and make sequels off the ones that become hits. The WW2 era film would be really cool, a good way to get the Justice Society their movie. I also like the idea of using Booster Gold to show us all the major companies and organizations in play. And of course, Court of Owls is a seminal batman story that I'm shocked hasn't been adapted yet. It's pretty much a guaranteed one from probably the last new villain (group) to make it big in DC. The green lantern trilogy would be a pretty cool space opera epic, I'm also impressed you were able to wait so long to put in Kyle Rayner- I was unable to restrain myself from dropping Question into phase 1. If anything the only bits I'd be unsure on are the ones you're keeping from the current DCU. (I cannot reconcile the subversion of superman's origin, and in part because I liked what they'd done with supergirl in the past, I can't get behind the Woman of Tomorrow comic. Taking her classic angelic wings and making them the result of a red-K drug overdose just feels deeply unsettling to me. I can see your point, but I do think at this point the general audience is able to understand the concept of there being multiple versions of a superhero. Maybe differentiate it a bit by letting The Batman Part ll be R-rated and concretely cementing it as elseworlds, but I think so long as you aren't doing the same style of batman movie or releasing them in the same year, they can coexist. (Also, while I don't think The Batman was anything amazing, it blows my mind that you hated it but didn't think supergirl was bad.) Probably. But in the absurd hypothetical that they put me in control of DC studios I will assume I could stop it. I don't think you can blame Supergirl's worse-than-morbius box office on Toy Story 5, they really weren't intended for similar audiences. At least I hope not. Non-spider-man marvel movies no longer are guaranteed sets, but most MCU movies still get at least one.) However I think its kind of annoying that DC consistently gatekeeps really good figures behind these overscaled Batmobile sets, because I would really appreciate these characters in more affordable sets as well. The previous 1980 Batman being available in a polybag was sooo incredible and hopefully Lego eventually does the same for this variant, as money is tight these days and I'm just not sure I can fork over $200 for a Batmobile. As for the upcoming winter wave, I'm realling hoping that the Arkham Batmobile gets more than 1 figure. All of the Batmobiles had potential to carey a few figures and I was kind of disappointed to see Lego only give us a single figure in each of those sets. Actually on that note this is how I wish the figure selection had been; 76331 - Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (this would have been a great opportunity to give us Black Suit Superman as well) 76332 - Batman, Penguin, Catwoman 76333 - Batman, Robin (both in their Ice Suits™️), x2 Mr Freeze goons (white shoulder pads could either be a regular shoulder pad piece or they could just use the actual hockey player/football piece, 1 with the Hidden Side hoodie and braid piece and another with just a standard beanie piece, hockey pucks and ice skates) I've said it before and I'll say it again its a clear pattern of behavior with the Lego Group clearly putting minimal effort into the DC theme. Look at all those new molds in One Piece, Bluey, Animal Crossing and Sonic! Almost every figure gets a new mold. I wish they'd treated DC how they treat Sonic. Only 1-2 new figures a year but they get dual molding, arm printing, new molds and are extremely accurate to the source material. Like in 2024, DC DID only get a few new figures. But as we all saw the print quality on Harley was not always consistent and Freeze had no leg or arm detailing. Yes I know Freeze is a quick fix with Sinestro but the fact of the matter is DC did not produce a good figure for him when they could have. We see with other themes that the company IS at a new standard in 2026. Lord of the Rings, Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, One Piece, Fortnite, Nonkey Kid and even Vidiyo have shown that Lego can consistently provide characters with leg and arm detailing and still have room in their budget for MULTIPLE new molds within A SINGLE WAVE. A few waves a year and the numbers add up. Not that I'm going to sit here and count exactly how many new molds each theme recieved and divide it by the amount of waves (too lazy, lol. I could, though, but who's got the time?). The company IS at a high standard for their themes and while yes fans of Star Wars may complain that their Storm Troopers lack arm printing, or that Boba Fett is literally perfect but you have to switch up a few of his headpieces and torsos to get him right (DC fans WISH they had multiple Deathstrokes to swap helmets with btw) but the fact is they will never know what its like to get sets at the low trash bar that we consistently pay for over here. Its infuriating. Like fine give us only three figures a year but my goodness they better be good! I guess the figures in the three recent Batmobiles had leg printing but they looked off with that ugly cowl mold and some of those designs desperately needed arm printing, namely Batman and Robin's Batman. I guess it's a safe bet that the Batman Returns Batmobile will have more than one figure because I doubt they'll leave the Penguin boat unarmed. That would be kind of funny though if it was just Batman fighting Penguins car with no Penguin. Like an inside joke between Lego and us, a statement, if you will, in a moment of self aware jest, of their refusal to give us more than just Batman himself. Left to fight nothing but himself and the void. All in all I do have faith this theme is not dead because we are still getting new sets its just at a really slow pace. The Superman mech came out of nowhere and was a fantastic breath of fresh air and it sucks they aren't rumored to give us anymore. I was daydreaming of a Guy Garnder mech with a Black Adam figure, or a Mr Freeze mech with a new Batgirl would have been cool too. So point is we are capable of being surprised. Arkham caught me off guard and reminded me that the company is occasionally willing to give something to DC fans. So even if its at a slow pace I think the theme is not "dead" just not living up to its full potential. I do think its a mixed bag of DC films flopping and not having the audience support that the company needs to sell toys, but also I hate to say it but I do think Lego could do a little more than what they are in terms of effort into the theme. Like I think even a few more affordable playsers a year wouldn't be too much to ask for. Or just an upgrade in figure quality. Once again it seems like figures across all thems have normalized leg printing, with some themes getting more arm printing than others, but its not something reserved exclusively to the most expensive sets of a theme how it is here with DC. Likewith DC the figures with good molds like this new Batman are tied to expensive sets whereas in other themes there are a variety of price points in which you can pickup figures with leg detailing and new molds. Pretty much all the One Piece sets of all the price ranges have both new hair molds and leg detailing in all their sets. i know this comment is long winded, forgive me. But here is a list of some DC figures I think were not handled at a 2026 standard; Batwoman: needed dual molded legs, and she does usually have a strap on her leg as well which could be included in her leg printing. Batgirl: old, yeah, but the 2019 figure is a good example of a figure that was just sooo low effort across the board. No boots, which really could have been dual molded if you want to be lazy, but of course we all know it would look better if it also had printing to provide detail, which can be done minimally, it doesn't have to be an overdone She Hulk situation (also, whileI agree that Cmf She Hulk was a little "busy" I loved her and would glady welcome any figure like that over one with no detailing anyday). Also as stated before, the hairpiece they gave her wasn't particularly good at depicting her straight her in that run, plus there were small blue cowl ears the poked through her hair which could have made for a really cure hair piece. Batgirl in general is just always done so dirty. If done right she could be up there with Poison Ivy and Scarlet Witch as some of the best Superheroine figures in Lego, but because they keep giving her the short end of the stick with both leg detailing and hair moulds, we never quite got to see her live out her full potential. Especially in the 2014 figure where her boots were supposed to be gold, the lack of leg detailing REALLY stood out, and to this day we have never gotten dual molded black and gold boots to fix that (I think). and also unpopular opinion but its time to give up some molds and leave them in the last decade. Here are some molds I think the company should breathe new life into: Wonder Woman's hair: look, we get it. It was revolutionary for the time. I was there. 2012. Our very first Wonder Woman figure. Lives were changed. It was moving. But times have changed and its time to stun fans again. Make us feel young again. Like a little kid hearing at school that Lego was going to start making Justice League figures. I remember that, and while I did love the hair piece while it lasted, and it has recently found new life in the Unicorn Elf from CMF Series whatever, I just think its time to give Diana a new piece. Give it more volume, more personality and maybe make it look like it has a bit of motion? That could be done. Batmans 2026 cowl: my goodness this new cowl they've been leading with is so awful. Its the gap between the head and the torso/cape that looks so awkward because its just his human head poking through under the facade of his costume, it completely ruins the illusion that his costume is supposed to give and it looks awkward. I think the only figures they have gotten right these years have been the Burtan era Batmen. Its like yes! Batman looks his best when there is either a smooth transition or just nothing dividing the cowl from the rest of the cape/suit! Obviously this piece should be exclusive to the Burton film sets, but the concept should not. All Batmen should have a piece like that, in their own respective styles. Investing in this singular mold over seperate cowl and cape molds (especially given how awkward those have been looking lately) is what I wish they'd do moving forward. Harley Quins TLBM hair: this one is so weird. Lego has a few pigtail pieces. This one was fine for the cartoony style of TLBM, but I think its so odd that they insist om using it for regular DC sets. In Arkham it was partocularly annoying becaus we have never gotten the regular CMF Series 16 pigtail hairpiece in red and black for Harley. We got the red and blue in 2016 and that would be fun to see again, but we almost always see Harley in her blonde pigtail with died tips. That piece is lovely, but I thought Arkham would have been a great opportunity to give us that piece in black and red. And so I was so annoyed to see that the black and red hair for Harley was this ugly TLBM piece. It was such a missed opportunity to give us a great piece in a nice recolor. Who even likes this clunky hair? Who even has hair this voluminous in real life? You know what makes it even more annoying? Of all the moulds from TLBM that could have bled into modern DC or modern Lego, they chose Harleys hairpiece? The mayors blonde hair piece was BEAUTIFUL. Like why does no ome talk about what a perfect bob that was? I think that piece was made for comic accurate Sue Storm. Ivy's hair with flower in it could have been cute to see recolored in a CMF for like a hippie girl or something. And of course, we ALL wanted Lego to keep Riddlers question mark piece in production, but they chose to retire that amazing piece that completedthe Riddlers cane, but kept Harleys huge hair? Its just so weird, like of all the new molds introduced in that movie they retired all the good ones and kept the most unnessecarry, repetitive and ugly one in circulation. Oh I forgot to mention! Olivia Rodrigo! Her new sets, there is a figure with a red dazzling shirt. If you give her red legs, and a blonde hairpiece, this is THE best purist figure for a New 52 Cassie Sandsmark Wonder Girl. Its like, completely perfect for that! Can't wait to get my hands on that figure and make a purisr Wonder Girl. I always did think her red New 52 costume was underrated. Quote

After Emerald Twilight Kyle’s story would be told in a couple of JL movies and World’s Finest S2/3 through team ups with Jade, Alan Scott John Stewart and Wally West. Hal as Spectre would also get a couple of episodes in World’s Finest. And then Kyle becomes the 2nd lead from Rebirth onwards when Hal comes back. Ok that is the one thing I’m unsure on too, but other than the Viltrumite parent situation I’d say that Gunn has Soup nailed in characterisation. “Kindness is the new punk rock” is cheesy but it works for the character so well. I think he did fine with Superman's personality, but there's enough else going on in the movie that I'd want changes to- including the reversion of the viltrumite thing, which I've heard Supergirl only reaffirms as canon. It really seems like that came out of James Gunn's personal relationship with his father, which he has spoken about influencing some of his films. I think Superman coming from a good and noble legacy and wanting to live up to his kryptonian heritage is a big part of his character and something that separates him from heroes like invincible. I've got no animus towards Milly Alcock as a person, and I haven't paid to go watch the whole movie, but nothing I've seen really makes me think she's a very good supergirl. Maybe it's in part that we've largely been spoiled by Melissa Benoist, who was pretty much a perfect casting, and Sasha Calle, who while not the perfect choice for a mainline supergirl, did an excellent job in an otherwise terrible film. (I would love to see her show up alongside Henry Cavill in some sort of elseworlds, she does very much feel like the supergirl to his version of superman.) I think if you want to have supergirl as a major character you need to do either the young newbie from JLU style stuff or the matrix comics larger-than-life, divine being vibe, and Milly Alcock doesn't really feel like either to me. But who will change the hierarchy of power in the lego DC universe? Bat Adam? Black Bat? I’m giving up hope for MOT sets next year Yup. It's looking very likely that Morbius will end up beating it, massive victory for us Morbheads, morbius in Marvel Rivals when? (In all honestly, a mainline MCU/DCU movie being beaten by Morbius is probably a career-ender. The fact that it'll be on streaming before the month is even over implies even the studio's realized it's dead in the water.) This will not help lego DC's case, ESPECIALLY as far as getting anything other than batman goes. If the superman mech retired early with that film doing alright, and then lego sees supergirl being one of the biggest losses in box office history, they will 100% come away thinking there's just no market for characters who aren't the bat.
