Dolor Posted Sunday at 08:46 AM Posted Sunday at 08:46 AM We need a BIG movie trilogy, like Nolan, Snyder... and then we are in LEGO DC heaven. Quote

Also, Snyder and the DCEU are part of the reason we’re in this mess TBF "Part" is doing some heavy lifting there. His films were both financially successful. MoS was fairly well-received, and while BvS was rough, the immediate hard pivot to just trying to copy the MCU's exact tone (down to hiring the first avengers director to turn JL into... the theatrically released product that resulted) absolutely killed any chance they had of succeeding. At least the snyder stuff was trying something different- an elseworlds for sure, never going to be the definitive versions of the characters- but just making an inferior version of the MCU demolished any chance the DCEU had of finding a niche in the market. calebcold3 Posted Monday at 02:03 AM Posted Monday at 02:03 AM Since we are getting some Upcoming sets from various themes that are Up-Scaled Minifigures, Does Anyone think that we could get a potential Up-Scaled LEGO Batman Minifigure next year? Speaking of which, since it seems LEGO DC is done for 2026, I think next year we'll get more Batmobiles in "The Batmobile Collection" and HOPEFULLY One Set Each from Man of Tomorrow and The Batman Part II Quote

I know, which is why I’m only blaming Snyder partially The pivot is what did the damage, but Snyder was the reason a pivot happened in the first place ^^ $874 mio is a good result in a vacuum, but CA:CW grossed $1.1 bio and pretty much everyone expected the opposite result. No way WB was satisfied with that result (hence the course correction) and the reviews and reactions were harsh too. And lots of moments got ridiculed to hell and back. MARTHA!! The big mistake here was to center the DCEU around an Elseworlds story. The MCU also made a lot of the characters its own, but they were mostly still true to their core. Brute Man, mopy Soup, and Leto’s Cringeler were not the versions of the characters people came to expect 6 hours ago, calebcold3 said: Since we are getting some Upcoming sets from various themes that are Up-Scaled Minifigures, Does Anyone think that we could get a potential Up-Scaled LEGO Batman Minifigure next year? The Batman II sets are almost guaranteed as well I’d say, but I’m betting against MoT getting anything, sadly Quote

Just to add to this, the only reason BvS did as well as it did was the massive hype that existed for Batman and Superman finally appearing together in a film. The opening weekend was record breaking. In fact, at the time, it was the only film to open as large as it did and not cross a billion. Because the drop off for the second weekend was also record breaking and it barely managed to double its opening weekend gross. Those are both signs that audiences outright hated the film. And we never saw opening weekends or total box office grosses that high for a DC film again. BvS took the massive hype that existed for its characters coming together in a shared cinematic universe and completely killed it for at least 10 years. SoupOrFishOil Posted Monday at 03:41 PM Posted Monday at 03:41 PM The Unicorn Elf bringing back Wonder Woman's hairpiece and the Trash Monster keeping the Vidiyo slime head alive makes me hopeful that Lego has these pieces earmarked for Wonder Woman and Clayface appearances in the not too distant future...but I'll still be surprised if that happens. calebcold3 Posted Tuesday at 01:44 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:44 AM (edited) I'm not surprised at all by this, given the current landscape of superhero movies and other things, but Gunn confirmed today that The Authority Movie is not going to happen anytime soon. So, even though there was a 0.01% chance that we would get figures of those characters, I think it is now 0% likely we will get those characters as Minifigures. Having a movie about that group as one of the first announcements was a weird strategy anyway. It’s not 2014 anymore, these days you can’t put any random comic character on screen and expect people to go watch it without question. And movies like GotG came out after the MCU had already gained the audience’s trust The DCU is too young to swing for the fences like that. Heck, we’re still missing two thirds of the Trinity! And yeah, that movie was never gonna get even a single set, even if Soup had a whole bunch of sets Until Man shows up, the DCU won’t be covered by LEGO, I’m afraid. And even then, it’s far from a guarantee. Edited Tuesday at 07:10 AM by BrickBob Studpants Quote
