That said, with how little DC gets I won't begrudge it getting something. Fisk's tower was relatively important in the first Spider-verse film too. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted Thursday at 10:03 PM Posted Thursday at 10:03 PM Oh! I was getting ready to suggest that the next DC modular might be the Tower of Fate instead. I've been hoping for the Daily Planet since 2012. The latest Arkham set turned out pretty great I thought, and I like most of the Marvel modulars too though I haven't bought any. I hope they go with something more art deco or retro sci fi to differentiate the Planet from the now-retired Daily Bugle, which was a cool set for a lot of reasons but a pretty plain skyscraper at its base. I am most excited to see the building since I think I collected pretty much every Superman character that saw wide release, but since most of the Daily Planet staff can be kitbashed it would be really nice if some of the prints modulars like Arkham and the X-Mansion got could go to Superman villains we haven't seen before (at least not as regular widely available minifigures, like Bizarro) or niche Justice Leaguers like Mr. Terrific. Arkham did introduce Batwing after all. Quote
calebcold3 Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM (edited) HELL YESSSS Also, I know the leak said they are 2027/2028 sets, but I’m confident the Daily Planet and Krypto are 2027 sets, as they would capitalize on the release on MoT. BUT… why do I have a feeling that the Krypto set will be our only MoT set… Edited Thursday at 11:07 PM by calebcold3 Quote
Swordy Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM THE ASLUME IS (soon to be) DEAD! On a non-jonkling note, let's go. Whether it's a D2C or a mini-modular, I'm glad to hear that something besides a redundant Batmobile is coming. Granted, there's a non-zero chance the only minifigures are Soup, Luth Lexor, and Man. Agent Kallus Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM Posted Thursday at 10:13 PM Arkham and the X-mansion had new figure part counts in the twenties, with that plus a decent number of kit bashed civilians I think this set could have a generation run of DC characters, hopefully some of which will make it to the magazine too (especially if any lanterns are included, lantern corp torsos are great for building other characters!!) psqidexslizer Posted Thursday at 11:01 PM Posted Thursday at 11:01 PM So, hold up. Last year we got a Superman mech and Arkham Asylum. This year Lego have us four Batmobiles with nothing except Batman. Next year we’re getting Krypto and the Daily Planet. This theme is gonna give me whiplash. 7 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: I knew the day would come one of our funny little minifig eating bets comes back to haunt us And of bloody course it had to be me Well, maybe! BrickBob Studpants Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM Two small observations on IG: 1) James Gunn liked one of the posts about the Daily Planet rumour, and 2) TandN hints at Brainiac. My tummy right now: „Mr BrickBob, I don‘t feel so good“ Quote

Technically speaking none of these have precluded anyone from eating the object anyway, it's typically just not one you'd want to eat voluntarily. 1 hour ago, Agent Kallus said: Fisk's tower was relatively important in the first Spider-verse film too. Krypto I could see getting cancelled. That little industry plant doesn't seem to have taken off like they were hoping. But he probably won't- lego superheroes loves their statues and buildable mascots. We got the 80 groots, we're getting everyone's favorite semiaquatic war criminal, and now we're getting knockoff John Wick Plot Device. Quote

Supergirl and Krypto probably makes the cut too. If the set is comic based, then I assume we’ll probably get a couple more villains like Zod, Bizarro, Mxyzptlk and maybe Metallo (there were hints that the new hairpiece for Two Face would appear again, so this would track) and maybe some other Superfamily members like Jonathan Kent and Powergirl. If it’s movie based, then we’ll probably get Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and maybe John Stewart. Quote
DaredevilFan Posted Friday at 01:48 AM Posted Friday at 01:48 AM Just when you think it’s all over, they pull you back in. I’m hoping it’s comic based as it gives us the opportunity for more villains. Big fig Doomsday or Darkseid would be amazing. I feel Batman will make his way into it. With how good the Marvel figs have been lately it gives me hope that we should get some nice prints for a new modular Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted Friday at 09:06 AM Posted Friday at 09:06 AM 17 minutes ago, thephantasm said: But also what if this is another tower of fate situation That was a different situation. Back then, it was one leaker who was otherwise reliable who spread the rumour and a lot of others fell for it. Here, we have multiple sources confirming it (after some initial scepsis) Sure, in the end every rumour should be taken with a grain of salt, but with pretty much every leaker covering it, there‘s very little room for it to be untrue. BrickBob Studpants Posted Friday at 09:31 AM Posted Friday at 09:31 AM Apparently, James Gunn has removed his like, probably because he realised (or was told about) the optics of this move Him liking it is definitely further proof, but of course it doesn’t necessarily imply a movie tie-in. After all, the Soup mech was advertised as a tie-in too The whole thing is very amusing to me. It‘s not every day a creator, let alone a studio boss, reacts to LEGO leaks Also, for what it‘s worth, bootlessbricks calls it a „terrific Thursday“ in his IG story with a pic of a custom Mr Terrific minifig plastered over the image. Again, that doesn‘t mean the DP is a movie tie-in, but it‘s at least a distinct possibility! Heart and brain say yes, tummy and intestines can‘t be reached for comments. Quote

I love dogs but I'm so sick of Krypto at this stage that he's basically a Baby Yoda gimmick Buildable Bathound when lol I have a feeling the Daily Planet will not sell well, Superman nowadays is not as popular as he was 10-15 years ago, maybe I'm being a hater but idk if everyone is going to rush to buy a Superman Modular although people might just buy it to add to their city without liking or knowing Superman A new Darkseid would be cool Quote
Agent Kallus Posted Friday at 10:46 AM Posted Friday at 10:46 AM My guess would be a comics based set with major movie .based character inspirations and Easter eggs but it could go either way ( though a movie set would mean less characters represented). Now while I did made my initial post off of the Unibricks repost I have now seen the Bootless bricks initial post, interestingly enough he has a few characters placed around the description, hinting at Thier potential inclusion, though that could be nonsense or guess I've lead to think that means they might be included in some form. The characters are : Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Superman, Supergirl, Krypto, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Lex Luthor and Guy Gardener. Here's my speculation about the character line up. (Spoilered to save space) Spoiler 1- Superman (bled from the mech set but with new printed legs) 2- Clark Kent (Existing parts but with a new head) 3 - Lois Lane (Existing parts but maybe with a new Torso) 4- Perry White (Existing parts) 5- Jimmy Olsen (Existing parts) 6- Kat Grant (Existing parts) 7- Steve Lombard (Existing parts) 8- Lana Lang (Existing parts) 9- Kara Danvers (Existing parts) 10- Lex Luthor in a suit (Existing parts) 11- Lena Luthor (Existing parts, using the mech sets Lex torso and legs which can swapped with Lex's Suit to switch who has the armoured look) 12- Bruce Wayne (Existing parts) 13- Batman (Existing parts) 14- Supergirl ( New Torso, legs and head) 15- Mister Terrific ( New Torso and head, reused 'tactical' legs) 16- Hawkgirl (New Torso and helmet) 17- Guy Gardener (New Torso and legs, recoloured hair) 18- John Stewart (New Torso, same legs as Guy, new head) 19- Wonder Woman (New Torso, Legs and hair print) 20- Brainiac (New Torso and Head) 21- Metallo (New Torso and Head) 22- Mister Mxyzptlk ( New Torso and new hair/bald spot/tiny hat mold) 23- Superboy Jon Kent (New Torso) 24- Manchester Black ( New Torso) 25- Big Barda (New Torso, Legs and Hair) 26- Powergirl (New Torso and Legs) Plus Brickbuilt Starro, Parasite, Doomsday and The Brain and moulded animals for Krypto, Mallah, Streaky and Dex-starr. I tried to keep in to a number of new figure parts in the twenties but probably went over by including the animals yet it might get away with more new parts as a skyscraper will be a bigger budget set than Arkham or the X-Mansion. BrickBob Studpants Posted Friday at 11:09 AM Posted Friday at 11:09 AM @Agent Kallus: I appreciate your optimism, but hoping to follow up a year with only a couple of Batman minifigs with a set featuring 26 minifigs, including the likes of Powergirl and Mr Mxyzptlk, grants you a free one-way ticket to the Aslume The set will definitely have new prints and some new characters, but not to this extent Quote

Mandalorianknight Posted Friday at 02:37 PM Author Posted Friday at 02:37 PM 2 hours ago, thephantasm said: It could be like a mini playset modular right Honestly I think we've somehow entered a situation where a D2C is MORE likely in general. There are so many niche adult licenses that superman is about as popular as, but lego DC just doesn't do many playsets anymore. We can't even get a Batcave playset in the main system line. That said I think it also did leak as specifically a modular building. 3 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: @Agent Kallus: I appreciate your optimism, but hoping to follow up a year with only a couple of Batman minifigs with a set featuring 26 minifigs, including the likes of Powergirl and Mr Mxyzptlk, grants you a free one-way ticket to the Aslume The set will definitely have new prints and some new characters, but not to this extent In such a way, the Aslume lives so long as we up our expectations so they stay the same insane distance from reality. (Also, not to be crass but I don't think we would get powergirl without the most unique part of her costume being removed, in which the figure would essentially be no more accurate than the purist customs you can already make- since we know the face would be kitbashed and there'd be no leg printing) Here's my guess: Re-used: Superman (from mech), Batman (from Logo), Lex (from mech) Kitbashed: Perry White, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, 2-3 random civilians that will have the names of obscure DC civilians haphazardly slapped on like the bugle. New: Supergirl (new torso, legs and head), Bizarro (new torso and head), Braniac (new torso, legs, and head), Mr. Terrific (new head and torso), that stupid mutt (new mold shared with buildable kyrpto set). CloneCommando99 Posted Friday at 05:10 PM Posted Friday at 05:10 PM (edited) I’m going to throw my hat in the ring for minifig predictions: I’m assuming it’s comic based, as that gives Lego the opportunity to reuse Man and Jonkler. Reuses (some with slight upgrades like dual moulded legs): Superman, Krypto, Batman (he could also be new if they do a blue + grey World’s Finest suit), Joker, Lex Luthor Kit bashed: Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Steve Lombard, Cat Grant, Mercy Graves, Clark Kent (but with a new face print) New: Lois Lane (purple shirt), Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Braniac, Mr Terrific, Green Lantern (either Guy or John but not both), Hawkgirl and General Zod. 18 minifigs and a reused animal seems like a likely number. Could be reduced to 16 if Lego excludes Batsy. Only 4 villains seems reasonable here as 3/5 of the ones selected are some heavy hitters. And then whichever Green Lantern isn’t used is given a mech vs reused Zod set. Reusing the new green and black dual moulded legs. Honourable mentions who barely don’t make the cut: Steel, Jon Kent, Booster Gold, Livewire, Metallo, Cyborg Superman, Parasite and Bibbo Bibbowski Edited Friday at 05:21 PM by CloneCommando99 Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted Friday at 05:40 PM Posted Friday at 05:40 PM I‘ll go against the grain here and fully expect a DCU-inspired set. The list I envision: The reason I‘ll end up in a hospital Mrs Maisel Soupgirl The GOAT The worst GL Not Superman Perry White Also not Superman but in a different way THE DOG Jeff Bezos with anger issues Jimmy ‚At least I didn‘t get shot in the face this time‘ Olsen Gary Too lazy to engineer a pun or something Quote
