I want some people's option about the new Boba Fett display figure. I am building the actual set and I was thinking about adding his holstered Sacros K-11 pistol that was in ESB. Do people think it's a good addition or not really?

I am also thinking of doing a Jango recolour as a MOC.

I think it could work, and if you do do a Jango be sure to share it here on EB!

For me the problem with Acolyte is the very reason I cannot imagine a Lego set based on it: it is cynical, subversive, and sexualized. Jacked Qimir emerging from the water (similar to Bond girls...) and telling us that there really is no good and no evil, and the Sith are just as morally right as the Jedi... and the show is not depicting that as delusional or plain wrong, it overtly agrees. And the show runners did too.

There is a reason kids (used to) love Star Wars, and it is certainly not some post-modernist moral relativism. That makes it a horrible kids toy.

Summed it up perfectly. I'm glad Lego never touched this show.

It came in the Original Sandcrawler from 2005.

A quick Bricklink search for 'GNK' returns 17 potential matches - I think it's pretty complete.

sw0073/a is the pricey one from 10144 - I don't think I'll try to bother tracking one of those down for my collection, although I've got most of the others!

This is the ultimate swordy. It would have taken me a multi-page essay to express what you do here in three sentences. The reason the show is the worst one is because it actively tries to inject theming that's antithetical to the franchise. It's the type of show the Sith would make. And for that reason, I am glad it didn't get covered by lego.

8 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said:

When even the most “adult” show still openly keeps the basic good vs evil story intact that SW is and always has been without resorting to moral relativism, while you try to argue the Sith are just misunderstood, you know your Porg is cooked :snicker:

Yup. And Andor has greyness- Andor himself isn't exactly a good man at the start of the story- but they don't pretend he is. You can have someone like Luthen, who's actively aware he's not a good man, but is sacrificing his morality for the rebellion. You can have someone like Syril, who could have been a good man in other circumstances and gradually realizes he's working for the bad guys. But the show doesn't claim that Luthen's deeds mean the Rebel Alliance are the bad guys, or that Syril not wanting the Ghormans to die makes the Empire good.

There was a way to do acolyte- you could have had the dark side twin struggling against her techings and trying to be good, you could have had a C'baoth like Jedi who may still wear their garments and yet is corrupted by the dark side. But the way they did it, like I said, it's a show the Sith would make to try and get people on their side. "Look at the evil Jedi organization clash with those totally-good-guy witches, look at our cool guy, we're the good guys!"

Sol could be a cool figure, Qimir's helmet would be a neat mold, but I get why lego doesn't want to touch the project with a 10 foot pole.

Exactly. Rogue One and Andor managed to introduce some moral greyness while still making it abundantly clear how evil the Empire truly is. If they did it like The Acolyte, the message would be that the Empire and Rebellion are equally bad or that someone defecting to the Empire would be justified :laugh_hard:

Exactly exactly... You don't have to pretend the evil side of things is anything but evil to show off some morally grey areas between being good and evil. It's more like showing off the good side's commitment to br able to become the organization to properly fight off evil. Like they had to compromise and sacrifice quite a lot in the process. And as far as defecting to the other side goes, going from being a full blown member of the Empire to a fully convinced member of the Rebellion in no time is just as goofy as the vice versa scenario that you just described. :head_back:

On Bricklink that is... but I was talking about Brickset, which just yields 14 matches. Unless it's still the complete collection? In any case, I just found the aformentiond 2005 GONK Droid being listed there.

I'm already happy having all of the Christmas GONK specials. Anything beyond that I'd like to consider a bonus.

I've heard more than enough of this super cheap audio knockoff. To even try to imagine this for an actual GONK Droid is some absolute nightmare fuel.

Yep, and it goes to show that collector prices usually have fairly little to do with the overall quality of any given item. At least as far as minifigures are concerned.

Guys and girls, I need your opinion on something. If you would please take a moment...

So, I've been playing around with the idea of creating an overall Lego Star Wars minifigure thread. It would sorta serve as an equivalent to the wishlist minifigs and sets thread, which is all about potential things to come. Whereas this thread would be about ownership of the present, past and future. In the vein of pictures say more than a thousand words, it would be like a single location where people may share, highlight and continuously update their personal collection and set ups with each other. In addition of telling some potentially funny anecdotes and insightful trivia bits along the way. It would literally be all about our favourite precious pieces of plastic and nothing else.

Do you reckon such a thread could work out longer-term? Would all you Eurobricks citizens, knights and dukes dudes even be interested in the first place? Please leave some much appreciated feedback, constructice criticism and whatever you fancy. Thank you.

Who himself has absurd prices considering what he is. $7 is pretty good as far as minifigures go but for some common bricks? You're essentially paying $7 for that printed 2x2 tile.

Some of them don't even make sense to me. Revan being $350- sure. I'd never pay it, but it was a limited release of a very popular character, I get how the price got so high. But some of these guys...

Yup. All depends on how you do it. I could easily buy one of Gerrera's partisans defecting to Thrawn if it was handled properly.

This is an excellent description. I'd say it makes me want to see a Gonk in a top hat, but we already have an official one of those.

That sounds like a great idea.

I made a rather foolish decison to try to build a decent collection of brand new/unassembled Star Wars minifigures around 18 months ago (after I'd run out of room for UCS sets!) and then display them in some expensive UV resistant display cases at some point.  Since then I've collected 345 unique minifigures, either purchased from Bricklink or taken directly from sealed sets.  Some of my best deals have been from buying older sets that are still new, but either with battered or missing boxes.  Probably my best to date have been a 75092 for around £40, a 75325 for £15, and a 75307 for £10 - all new but without boxes!  I've been setting myself a 'nomimal' budget each month so I don't get too carried away, and it's kept me occupied for hours!  It's quite an eclectic mix - but I'm reasonably proud of them.

They're all safely stored in ziplock bags at the moment, but happy to post some photos of if anyone would like to see them :classic:

USED. :jollyroger: I don‘t pay any attention to aftermarket price developments, but something must‘ve happened that these minifigs have become this valuable recently-ish. I smell market manipulation shenanigans.

Back in the day, 2003 CC Boba Fett or the SDCC exclusives fetched such prices, but now??

OG GONK is between $50-$90 depending on the grays.

One of the few good things to come out of the lego "speclator's market' or whatever is the tracker sites are now a lot better than bricklink's one. I looked up the Revan minifig and it doesn't look like there's been a big spike- it's just gradually gone up.

I saw that as well- though what's interesting is you can get the faceplate for "only" $20. The issue is that the container box just apparently was only ever made in that color for Mr. Gonk. (I immediately got the idea to use panels and SNOT bricks to just make a fascimile of that box the faceplate attaches to, but that still requires spending $20 on a single part when the GONK design I use in Mocs is around $0.75 of pieces on bricklink.

This was something that some of those youtube "influencers" tried to start, but I believe what was happening is the market would end up correcting itself. I know a few "influencers" try to coordinate them, but what I think ends up happening is a bunch of younger teens all buy a single copy of the figure the influencer targets, get impatient that it's not selling at their inflated price, and then it ends up either returning or lowering. The only one I remember actually hearing the specifics on was they tried to do it with 2013 rex last year, and if you go on one of those tracker site they use, you can see there was a short spike and then it became cheaper than it was before.

That's very good to hear.

Oh man, I remember the time when I was returning to the Lego Star Wars theme for good or even properly collecting it in the first place. I would go on to catch up to a variety of sets that just retired or were close to. As many sets as I still got from the ~2014-2016 era, the 75092 unfortunately wasn't among them. Not that I didn't try but it was a little too late in my case. So praying for a new regular one in the not too distant future.

345 unique minifigures sound like my ballpark. I should be in the 400s by now; so true minifigs without the buildable droids and stuff.

Yep, that's the idea. I'm looking forward to see some of your collection, then.

Alright, off to a promising start. Best to get some preparations underway. Don't know how substantial the OP is gonna be, though. It might be something evolving over time, I dunno yet. Just don't expect some self-made great layouts or something... I'm not that kinda guy.

@BrickPrick I’m down for a SW minifigure thread. I wouldn’t have many images (if any) to post but I’d certainly love to gush about my favourite minifigures from the theme over the past few years.

Apparently public-release Ahsoka S2 and Starfighter teasers will indeed be releasing from D23 tonight. Very exciting news if true!

Gah, initially I wasn’t too sad about the potential gap of Ahsoka S2 Lego coverage next year, but seeing those costumes reminds me how fun and colourful the first season was and how much Lego Star Wars needs to more cover content that’s just visually striking instead of the usual drab grey.

I wish Lucasfilm could be more firm with instructing licensees to guarantee some coverage of the shows. You know for a fact that Hot Toys, Funko, Hasbro’s Vintage Collection / Black Series, and Jazwares’ Micro Galaxy Squadron will be covering the show to some degree at least. It’s just Lego that sits these things out.

Snowy Anakin would be a great outfit to get a modern minifigure out of as well. Akin to 2023's TCW Padmé version. Wouldn't you agree, @Kaijumeister:grin:

It would obviously be great to have you on board as well. With or without pictures, there's definitely a lot to cover and talk about at anyone's preferred pace. I've got a variety of images to showcase some of my minifigure history from the last nine years or so, but it will take some time to dig up everything. In any case, I created the thread today. Looking forward to some interesting conversations with you all. :sweet:

They actually are... but more in terms of price policy on the Disney side of things, huh? :snicker:

Well yeah, I would like to see a more involved Disney/Lucasfilm to apply more pressure to Lego as well. In scenarios where it matters most, that is. Because I just can't imagine in my right mind the upcoming Marvel Hunk of Junk™ was solely made on the Lego Group's® behalf... or was it? I dunno what would be worse, actually.

Neither of those two threads has any overlap with my thread, though. The former I already talked about is is just about wishful thinking for potential things to come. And the latter is merely about upgrading minifigures in general. Whereas my idea revolves around sharing individual minifigure collections and keep yourself updated within the Eurobricks community.
