LEGO Speed Champions 2024 rumors/speculation
Henchmen4Hire replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
For whoever wanted emergency vehicles, here's a taste of what 8-wide ambulances look like Pretty cool because you can detail the interior, but also kinda boring on the outside. If they made emergency vehicles I think they'd have to be the more interesting designs, like wildland fire trucks or airport fire trucks. But I think those could be Creator sets instead, SC is mainly for snazzy supercars or racing.- 352 replies

Any tips for building a rally car? (Speed Champions)
Henchmen4Hire replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in LEGO Town
Welp, I got this far before I realized the wheelbase is like 2 studs too long. I think it was a good experiment at least.- 1 reply

I got a hankering to build a rally car because I like the aesthetic, but I'm not sure what features a typical rally car should have. Any suggestions? I saw a lot of rally cars that are actually smaller cars with wide body kits and larger tires, so maybe they should be 8-wide like typical Speed Champions cars? Or is 6-7 wide more appropriate? What tires would I use? What are the interiors like, mostly empty? What equipment is in there? Are they built differently depending on the racing environment? Hopefully I can bang out something cool this weekend.

I found out about these way too late, now all I see are destroyed VIDYO bags in the aisles. Luckily I got a few of the figs I liked on sale online. Overall it's a wild, ridiculous, beautiful theme, if you're into rapping llamas with pink mohawks that is (and who isn't!?). I don't remember any other blind-bag collectible LEGO figs being this massacred in the aisles. The general consensus is no one liked this theme, but it's also the most stolen by far, so what's the truth?

Sehr schön! It's cute and already has the start of a face on the chest like the Japanese robots haha

Need help making my Peterbilt MOC's bonnet openable
Henchmen4Hire replied to StudWorks's topic in LEGO Town
If you really need the bonnet and bumper flush, maybe you can have the bonnet slide forward on rails a little, then hinge it open. -
I like the gun exhaust, looks bolder, more interesting as a toy, which I assume is the goal. Nothing wrong with "boring" more accurate builds though, I've made plenty lol

I recently picked up mt first Friends set, it's a smaller one but this garden set looks like it might be my next dip into the Friends pool.

I don't understand how this hasn't been an official thing for a long time by now. Small sets that allow imagination to run wild without spending a ton of money. Vertical display option to display more while saving precious shelf space. Good way to re-release certain minifigures if they're too expensive on the secondary market by now. I think the wrestler scene could use 2 or 3 random colored tiles in the audience, to represent the signs they take to the shows.

Wow, 5-stud wide is my new fetish, love 'em all.

Mercifully the stand works and is mostly stable: I'm glad I offset the ball-joint! It helps overcome the leverage the heavier car/platform has on the joint by placing the weight over it instead of too far out front. I did screw up with one part though, the piece that cups the ball is supposed to connect to the base with axles, but the connection point I accidentally used is a pin instead. Luckily, the 4 black pins used to attach the "pistons" decorations stabilize the piece.

@jpx Thanks! I got parts to build at least one stand today, I'll post later about how it holds up.

Yes times one million. I have zero interest in most city sets, but make them Sci-Fi City sets and now I'm all in. (I realize it's an old comment, but it's still a great suggestion.)

A quick update- I bought parts off Bricklink to build one or two of these, in the process I found that each stand, as shown, costs about $10-$15US in parts. I was hoping to only have to pay around $5 per stand, but it is what it is. The bits that might be pricey are: Both LBG elements that make the "pistons". The black tips on the stand's "legs". The two black 1x3 liftarms The LBG/DBG elements that allow the ends of the platform to rotate. You can definitely push down the price by replacing, color-swapping or leaving off some bits. And hacking into things is always an option, for example if a 4L Technic axle costs 20 cents, buy a 8L axle for 3 cents instead and simply snip it in half. By the way, what's the most popular site for uploading your MOCs now? I want to share the instructions for this.

It doesn't even need to be complicated either, maybe just a big black plate and then a bunch of little tiles for stars, moons, microscale rocketship, etc. Could be a good excuse to use a DOTS set.
