Forestmen's Crossing (MOC/MOD)

Recommended Posts

There once was a tower near a river in the woods of Avalonia, an outpost of soldiers. The outpost is constantly ravaged by nature and bandit raids, so after many years, the commander finally decided that it is not worth the effort or resources and ordered his troops to another location, abandoning the nearly ruined outpost to its fate. Due to its strategic position nearby a busy road, Forestmen wasted no time to take over the abandoned tower. As skilled in stealth and marksmenship as Forestmen are, they aren't expert carpenters or builders, so the tower never reached to its former glory, but after a few repairs and extensions the place became livable enough, as well as allowing its new occupants to flee into the safety of the forest through the bridge if needed.

Very nice build Sorrelon, the water is excellent, and the bridge and tree are quite good as well! The tower could use some finishing off, but the story does a good job explaining that! A few more leaves and a taller trunk would help the tree, but what you have already is great, and the photography is splendid  Looking forward to more from you!

Thanks for suggestions! I agree that more leaves would look better, but I couldn't keep the limbs stable, they kept dropping as soon as I touched them, so I had to remove them. Perhaps I can try fixing them into each other with green carrot top pieces(33183), like the vines on the towers wall. I'm looking forward to try it out as soon as I get green 33183 parts! Also, I like the idea of a taller tree, a bridge that goes into a hollowed-out tree might look more interesting!

Awesome fort!

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked it!

By the way, this is my first MOC(well, more of a modification) in GoH, so I'm not sure if I have to register this in the free build topic. Also, sorry if I went against any rules, since I've opened a topic before creating my sigfig(I'm still waiting for my parts to arrive to do that :look: ).

Nice derelict tower!

This is a lively depiction of a classic scene. Great work there! Congratulations...

Great re-imagination of a cool set  The rope bridge, and stream are my 2 favorite parts, and the whole scene fits perfectly in Avalonia :classic:

I like the mix of classic and modern styles here, especially the touches of vegetation. Nice build!

Nice build, I especially like that tower

While the building was in a good condition in the original set (6071), I took the liberty to build it as a ruined tower. I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks! Actually, building the tower with vines on it was much easier than placing the vines on the wall in LDD

This is the first time I've built a body of water with 1x1 trans clear round plates. Even though it is a small area, it took much more 1x1 round plates than I thought it'd be  Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it! I was a bit worried about the vegetation, since I only have the standard green limb pieces at the moment. It might've turned out a bit differently if I put dark green limb pieces here and there.

Haha, that's a cool tribute to the old forestmen sets! I really like that bridge and the shore did come out.

Thanks a lot! I've always wanted to buy this set, but sadly, I haven't even see it anywhere other than on catalogues. So when I was planning about rebuilding an old set, I felt kind of obliged to do that for Forestmen's Crossing
