  1. Anyone have pictures of this?
  2. Nice finds, David Thomsen. That wig should make many, many people happy.
  3. After having bought this (and the still un-built Black Pearl) in August, I finally got around to build it. I absolutely love the sails, first of all. Best sails LEGO ever did! And the general color scheme is pretty good, too, with the whole skeleton-theme adding something new and fresh we haven't seen before. But the flaws mentioned by others and the fact that none of the figures does anything for me, and will be discarded, means that it doesn't rise more than slightly above average for me. And since I don't care about the fleshie figs or the POTC theme as a whole, and plan to use it for regular Pirates, I will have to modify it - since the colors are a bit too gloomy and dark to fit in with 'regular' Pirates LEGO. Truth be told, while this has some useful and good-looking colors overall, I prefer the colorscheme of Brickbeard's Bounty to this one. I'll be displaying it as is for a bit, then modify it heavily to become an imperial flagship of sorts - since I (sadly) don't own the actual Imperial Flagship.
  4. You know, that's a pretty nice take on it. I like it a lot. Great way to incorporate the various factions into one, big realm with a shared king. Wait, what? They had a huuuuge, devastating war over 2 minor buildings?
  5. So wait... you report 6 missing of these sets missing to the police... and the police then finds someone who incidently has 6 of those exact same sets... but doesn't see a proven correlation? Interesting. Is there by any chance in country-specific identification on them? I mean, they may find it a crazy coincidence that you have those 6 sets reported stolen and this guy just happening to have stolen 6 sets *from whoever* - but if his sets can be proven to be from Italy as well, that should be too much of a coincidence even for them... is there no way to identify them besides those batch number stickers? Also, moschino: Even if I lave the door to my appartment unlocked, it's still illegal for someone to go inside and steal stuff. It shouldn't be necessary to put a high voltage fence and/or moat filled with hot lava around your valuables in order to avoid being robbed. It's not his fault.
  6. I still haven't opened the MMV, 1 year after buying it. A terrible shame, really, but I currently don't have room to display it.
  7. I just received 4 items I won in online auctions. Although I did not win 7037 Tower Raid, which was the set I wanted the most, I did get the following 4 sets all new and unopened: 8821 Rogue Knight Battleship 7038 Troll Assault Wagon 4752 Professor Lupin's Classroom 4753 Sirius Black's Escape Though I only got the Harry Potter sets to divide postage costs, and they are meant for re-sale.
  8. That's a pretty great promo, in spite of the fleshie colors. Might be one of the best I have ever seen of its' kind.
  9. Brickbeard all the way, except that the hats on the old ones were better. Everything else about him is superior though.
  10. Insane steal, congrats. This might be the best LEGO deal I have ever heard of.
  11. Good review, average set. The wargs are pretty cool though, but not essential to me.
  12. Thanks for the in-dept review. I voted for "above average" myself due to the exciting new colors and overall good pieces. The figures does nothing for me, but I wasn't expecting them to anyway. This is the best set of the Hobbit wave, and the only one I'm currently planning on getting.
  13. Us Danes are always the last to be told about anything new with LEGO... and the Germans, where do they come into the picture?
  14. I don't think the old ships are better than the new ones, except for maybe the sails. And even then, only the sails on Brickbeard's Bounty were worse than in the old days - the 3 other ships we have gotten since 2009 have had great sails. Also, it sounds like I was the only one who treated the soldiers as the good guys when I was a kid...
  15. The build is good, but mixing pure yellow minifigs with dirty fleshies is heresy.
  16. Oh man, these bring me back. Good job! My favorite is the Ferret (didn't even know it was called that), which I always loved playing with myself. I particularly used it with those two twins, whats-their-names.... Where did you get the stickers?
  17. A new Pirate ship shall be greatly welcomed, regardles of theme.
  18. I assumed it was due to safety regulations being different.
  19. This, right here. I wouldn't be much interesting in 1:1 conversions of the old classics. They were great, amazing even, for their time... but doesn't really fit in with today's standards. But new takes with new colours, minifigs and techniques... oh yes, I would love that so much! 1 Forestman set 1 Wolfpack set 1 Black Falcons set 1 Crusaders set 1 Black Knights set BOOM! I disagree. If Castle can sell well with kids and Pirates can sell well with kids, why wouldn't what is basically an amalgram of the two sell well with kids?
  20. ...or maybe, at last, the fabled Europa theme! One can always dream...
  21. Interesting. I do recall that some LEGO employee recently stated that next summer would see a "new take on one of our classic themes", but I assumed - like most people, I think - that it was Pirates. Who ever thought we'd get more Castle alongside LOTR...? Time will tell what kind of Castle we'll be getting, though. I won't get my hopes up too soon...
  22. Absolutely fantastic work, and great pictures to boot! Love the effects, they really add another dimension to your already awesome moc! Though... not a fan of your Eowyn figure, she seems... oddly chubby and weird to me.
  23. Interesting thread. What fascinates me most of all, though, is that you got both the European and US versions brand new.
  24. I agree with this, they are always a nostalgic pleasure to read. And there really is nothing like opening a MISB LEGO set that went out of production long time ago... heck, even semi-new sets from 2008/2009 gives me immense pleasure to aquire and open MISB for the first time. And I too prefer brand new LEGO to used.
