  1. Well, it really doesn't look like all that long of a walk into dereliction and abandonment. However, great work....as usual. Make sure you have the usual slug sitting in the cupcake shop for hours on end using their free wireless. You know, the 38 year old man who lives in his parents basement and plays in dozens of fantasy sports leagues or the single forever woman with thick glasses and forty cats in her apartment.
  2. About a year ago, I bought two GG new in box. About $765 each US.
  3. Well, maybe you're like me. I enjoy the modular line and one a year simply isn't enough for me. After using nine or so GEs to make one large GE and three THs to make one large TH, I had enough parts of all kinds left over to build a couple of three story MOC modulars. What I usually do on an MOC is start out with instruction book one of a regular modular and do significant modifications as I go along. I usually don't even need anything beyond instruction book one as I get so off track from the original TLG design.
  4. Death Star. Without a doubt. Maybe the best Lego set, and I'm just so-so as far as SW goes. The other two have both been out less than a year. They should be around for a long while.
  5. Okay, many of you (us) will be at a lego store tomorrow to look at and/or buy one of the many new releases. While there, let's ask about modulars and report back with the answers. Should be interesting and full of conflicting info.
  6. It's rough enough in the Cali prison system without having to tell your fellow inmates that you're doing time for stealing Lego.
  7. Does that mean it will be taken down into the depths of your Lego ghetto? A free clinic? Pawn shop? Check cashing store? Car title loan/pawn store? I certainly hope so!!!!!
  8. Please refer to the Urban Dictionary as to why the word 'stud' should not be used in the same paragraph as 'PR' . Anyway, welcome on board! Glad you finally registered!
  9. My apologies to Vincent if I'm disturbing his eternal rest.
  10. I would have preferred a cinema that looked more like some of the Art Deco cinema MOCs that you can view on Lego ideas. I've traveled in 48 of the 50 United States and can assure you that there aren't that many movie houses that look like the lego palace cinema. However that isn't intended to be critical of the PC as I enjoyed the build. The PR is also good in that it appeals to men's repressed childhood desire to have a doll house just like their little sister had.
  11. This is the most enjoyable thing that I've seen on the Internet recently! What a great collection of photos and information you've put together. Thanks! There's a Starbucks/Barnes Nobel in Lego ideas that's great, too.
  12. Well, from looking at Lego USA website, GE appears to have been given new life. It's now showing out of stock but with a ship date of October 4th.
  13. The Art Deco design around the windows is outstanding. While as a whole it's not a great example of Art Deco, it is a great example of good design and something like this would be an outstanding addition to Ciudad de Modular.
  14. If it's a bank, I'll have two guys robbing it. Callahan will be in the Parisian Restaurant across the street eating a hot dog. He'll see the robbery, go outside and say..... 'Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do,ya?'
  15. A couple of lego employees told me the next modular will be a bank. For what it's worth. Not much, eh?
  16. Nice improvements. Like the back, like the colors......still needs work on the front, especially the upper portion of it. Curves, roundness. Wouldn't be concerned about different stripe thickness. It should work out.
  17. It can't truly be streamline style if the front looks like it was cut off with a meat cleaver. Even a modest curve on the front makes a big difference. https://www.google.com/search?q=streamline+style+bus&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=aJbVU46mEcKcyASQqYG4BQ&ved=0CDIQ7Ak&biw=1024&bih=672
  18. Go streamline modern. Round off the front. https://www.google.com/search?q=streamline+style+bus&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=aJbVU46mEcKcyASQqYG4BQ&ved=0CDIQ7Ak&biw=1024&bih=672
  19. A jeep is a great idea. It's an icon transcending any military theme and could be designed/decorated to reflect any of it's many uses.
  20. One of the problems with modern buildings is the basic, fundamental repetitiveness of any build. Floor after floor of the same brick. That's why I think some of them may not be the best choices for the arch series. With that said, I don't mind the repetitiveness and realize its unavoidable in an Art Deco or modern design. But, I've seen many complain about it. Even with the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings like Robie House.
  21. As we've discussed before, I prefer a more vertical, rectangular building with no texture or interior detail. Please rework to meet my standards. ;-)
  22. Yep, one a quarter would be nice. Plus, I don't really count Marina Bay due to the limited availability and the fact that I paid $200 each for two of them. But, I beat that topic to death already and don't want to stir up the army of TLG apologists. There are so many possibilities left. The Chrysler building would be a nice start.
  23. I think part of the fun of bricklinking is 'the hunt'. Twenty or thirty years ago, when I was out scouring the countryside for old radios, the hunt was as much fun as actually finding a good old radio. Sure, it was nice to have the radio. But the search for bargains, the search for rare items and the negotiating was as satisfying as actually having the item. Seems like the bricklinking process is also a fun, challenging one that has its own rewards out side of acquiring the actual lego product.
  24. I would really like to see Lego offer a Tiger II tank. Just think, 3000 - 4000 pieces. What a great build.
  25. I think that you may find this is the best modular. A nice balance of emphasis on building structure with good interior detailing. A nice middle point between the extremes of CC and PR. Thanks for sharing your build and reviews.
