Well, like it said its largely subjective. However, I do admire your passion for the subject. I can't get all that worked up about it. Compared to criminal defendants, lego is a nice change of pace. Never had a minifig pull a gun on me. Everything is good......

I've built it. I've built all of the others. It's largely a subjective thing and I just don't find the PR to be all that pleasing. Some were critical of the Grand Emporium. I love it. I've bought four of them and created a really Grand Emporium.

I think that Town Hall and Parisian Restaurant are on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as this discussion is concerned. I would prefer a middle ground, somewhere around the Green Grocer. With that said, it's like the Crane brothers said on Frasier. Their favorite evening was a night out where everything was perfect, except for one minor little detail that they could then pick apart all night. :-)

Great point. I think that is a concern shared by several of us. Several of the MOCs being offered by a Canadian seller on ebay are more of what I would expect in a modular building. He wants $800+ for his modular MOCs, but they are beautiful and the size of the building wasn't sacrificed for more interior detail. But, they are expensive.

Is that a seagull?

The fact that they lost on the last play. I lived in Philly for a while. The fans are brutal. I can imagine it was an interesting walk to the parking lot after the game.

That's the way I have mine set up. With a few bricks and plates here and there, the terraces should match up. Looks good and thanks for adding pics.

Discussion LEGO Architecture Building Issues
Off the wall replied to Vee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Robie House was my second Lego build. I knew even less about Lego then than I know now (may seem impossible, but it's true). I didn't known that I should be frustrated/bored by the many 1 x 1s. With that said, Robie House is worth the frustration. I think you'll regret not buying Tower Bridge before it's retired. -
So far, I think Green Grocer may be the definitive set as to how modulars should look and how piece count should be utilized.
-
The first couple of modular buildings were criticized for lack of any interior detail. Even the GE and PC have been criticized for insufficient interior detail. After building the PR, I can't help but think Lego took that criticism to heart. Does anyone think that with the PR there is too much emphasis on the interior and not enough attention to the actual building?

Yep, I'm waiting. Ordered January 1. Fortunately, or unfortunately given my option of the set, I got another one at the local Lego store and have built it already.

Discussion LEGO Architecture Building Issues
Off the wall replied to Vee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Man, I love ya. You're worse than me, or at least just as bad! :-) Stay away from Robie House and Tower Bridge. Some of the rows of 1 x 1 flat tiles on some of my builds look like I was high when I did the build. I like the architecture series. But it really can't and doesn't do justice to some buildings. The final build is like one of those caricature drawings that you buy at a tourist trap. They sort of look like the person, but have some hideous exaggerations and/or omissions. Or, they are what a BMW 1 series is to a real BMW. -
Limited distribution of 21021

If moral concerns were a problem, they'd probably never do anything with a Frank Lloyd Wright theme. Ever read anything about that guy? Brilliant man, very interesting personal life. Very interesting..... -
I was in a restaurant watching the game. Chiefs had a four touchdown lead when we finished eating. Didn't even turn it on when I got home. What a surprise when I opened the online 'newspaper' this morning. As for Philly, it was the kind of ending that Philly fans deserve.

I bought this set because of the political/religious controversy surrounding it. I wanted to see it up close and see what the controversy was all about. I built it and then took it apart. I read somewhere that it was supposed to be retired at the end of 2013. There was some debate as to whether it was being retired early due to the controversy. I won't go into details, but if you google it, you can get details of the problem/concerns. Can't wait for TLG to retire it so that I can become a reseller. :-)

I placed mine next to MS. The lower roof areas are level with one another. The MS roof is just that, a roof. One idea might be to extend the PR Terrance over onto the MS roof. Add some additional square footage to the patio dining area. It might look batter. Just an option.

Limited distribution of 21021
Off the wall replied to Off the wall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ya know, Vee, the Internet reminds me of a line from the movie As Good As it Gets....with a few modifications. How do you communicate on the Internet? I think like I used to think.......except on the Internet I can take away all reason and accountability. :-) -
Limited distribution of 21021
Off the wall replied to Off the wall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'll refrain from replying as CopMike has been kind enough not to lock this thread. For those who care, the issue is clear and not cluttered which irrelevant issues and pretzel logic. Back to building..... Or, as the popular American response goes.........'whatever'........ -
Limited distribution of 21021
Off the wall replied to Off the wall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The bottom line is that as collectors, we expect all architecture sets to have the same wide distribution. If TLG wanted to limit the distribution of 21021 for whatever reason, fine. BUT.....get it out of the architecture series and treat it like, or similar to, 4000007 Ole Kirks House. That's all that's being said here. If the reason is licensing, a forecast of limited sales outside of a certain area, production limits, or 'just because'. .........that's all okay, Just don't call it an architecture series set. All Lego buildings/landmarks are not in the archetecture series. Tower Bridge. Large Sydney Opera House. Taj Mahal. Pretty simple and really requires little, if any, speculation on why 21021 has such a limited distribution. -
Limited distribution of 21021

Thanks, CopMike. Appreciate your efforts in getting an explanation as to 'why' from Lego based on facts and not unfounded speculation. Not saying that some speculation isn't actually true. After all, there's always the blind squirrel finding the acorn, eh? -
Limited distribution of 21021
Off the wall replied to Off the wall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm dealing with the facts as they exist....as they are known. I'm not very good with 'what if Napoleon had a stealth bomber' type of discussion. Lego let us vote on what became 21021. It won are vote. They issued it in an architecture series box with an architecture series number. They did not make it available as they have the other 21---- series sets. I am not going to enter into a discussion that basically requires me to address false premise after false premise after another false premise. Nor will I get into a semantically based debate because someone used the word 'evil''. The facts are the facts. Others may ask 'what if Napoleon had a stealth bomber'. I'll stick to the facts as known. Unknown reasons for TLGs decision? Sorry, not going down that road. They are judged by their action and the facts as known.....not by me pulling excuses for them out of thin air and making stuff up based on the latest post to which I'm responding. And, I refuse to become a shill for TLG. Or, as you call it, a 'devil's advocate'. :-) -
Doesn't seem like a $331 order for 2 items should merit any special scrutiny. Especially given my order history. Just sayin'......

Hey, this doesn't answer your question but ordering the PR has also been a different experience for me. I made two orders through the US. Lego.com website on the morning on January 1st. The first was for the Eiffel Tower and the Mars Rover. That is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. The other order was for the PR and the Maersk Ship. That order is still 'in process' after sitting in 'customer service' for two days. I did buy an additional copy of the PR at the Lego store on January 1, so I've got that one almost completed. I wasn't planning on starting the build for another ten days or so. But it's so cold here in the southern USA that I'm in staying inside and playing. I know, I know...nobody wants to hear that its cold when it's 32 degrees Fahrenheit outside and only goes down to 17 F at night. But next week, the low is 9 F. So, I hope all of the Lego gets here soon! Those temperatures are cold in Atlanta, GA USA!

Can't shake the guilty feeling of wanting to return a LEGO set.
