Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Off the wall replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Buy a PS or a GE and do the necessary modifications. It may well never happen if you wait for someone else to do it! Welcome aboard and have fun! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Since the City Theme doesn't really appeal to me, I've used existing modulars to create MOCs for my modular city. For instance, I used a Pet Shop as the basis for a florist. Of course, you do need to build up an inventor of bricks, or be willing to purchase bricks, for this to work. -

I guess the good old GE won't die. Now, it's listed with a ship date of October 2nd. Probably giving the resellers fits. -
Lego 10224 Town Hall - New Build & Review
Off the wall replied to VintageLegoEra's topic in LEGO Town
Town Hall is the same width as other modulars so size shouldn't be an issue. While TH is not my favorite, I wouldn't advise skipping it. Read some of the reviews of town hall that show a lot of TH detail and then make the decision based on what you see/like and not the comments of others. I have several copies of TH. One will be modified to be the center of the winter village series as that is begging for a central focal point. In addition, TH has a lot great parts/colors. -

FYI, for what is worth.....my two GEs shipped today from lego.com. -
Right you are. But, it's far more fun to enjoy MUs failures than it is to celebrate Leicester's success. Just human nature, I guess.

I've explained before and all it's done is lead to unpleasantries. I've promised the moderators I'd behave and not start disputes. -
General questions about buying LEGO in the US

Like most things, what happens in NYC is not representative in most cases of what happens in 'fly over country' where I live. -

Glendo, I'm in agreement with you on PR and TH. Don't even try to explain. Not worth your time. As for me, well, PR took the 'A' out of AFOL. I do like and respect MS, simply for its history and the man who designed it. -
He was just put on loan to Liverpool.

LEGO Architecture 2015 News & Discussion
Off the wall replied to tafkatb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My intent was not to say the purpose of TLG with the architecture/landmark was to provide inventory for souvenir shops. All I'm saying is that most of the arch sets would serve that purpose quite well. Many of them are more of a caricature of the actual building or, at best, a small and relatively low detailed model of the building. The Frank Lloyd Wright buildings come closer to what I prefer than the preliminary pictures of flatiron and the Lincoln memorial. My wish is for a series of 3000 to 4000 piece Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. But, that ain't gonna happen....... -
Bad, bad omen....... So, I'm getting into my car at Starbucks this morning with my match day cafe mocha and a crossont. This guy pulls in next to me and gets out of his car. Here, in nowhere Georgia, this guy is wearing Stoke gear. Seriously. He's probably 70+ and he's wearing the full kit. I knew that was an omen of some sorts. Apparently, a bad one. 2-2. Arghhhhhhhhh.......

I see where GE is now listed as sold out in lego.com land. Yesterday, it was still available with a shipping date of Sept 29. I also noticed that my credit card had authorizations/pending transactions on it this morning for the GE. Maybe I'll have them next week. -

Interesting work, thanks for sharing. While I'm a completists as far as this lego series is concerned, I'm not thrilled with this set (flatiron). It appears to be another 'pocket' set. One that you would find in a souvenir shop, buy it, put it in your pocket/small carry on and assemble it on the airplane while you're on your way home. In addition, there are other buildings in NYC that are more interesting. But, at least the series continues...... -

Lego store review - Troy, MI
Off the wall replied to Darbyohara's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
This isn't really a review. It's more of a complaint based on a very limited time frame and a very narrow set of criteria.- 8 replies

Just out of curiosity, is it still more cost effective to pay a reseller for FB as opposed to the cost and time required to BL it? Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, I think that anyone interested in modular buildings would want that one. There are also several others with less support that are outstanding. Unfortunately, and from what I've seen with the modular MOCs, the piece counts are crazy high and would require some redesign by TLG personnel before they could become viable products. Some of those MOCs are 4000+ piece works and I can't see TLG producing a modular with that high of a cost. I'm not sure what it would take to build the natural history museum, but I would readily pay for a 3000 or 4000 or 5000 piece modular, but apparently TLG thinks I'm in the small minority. -
41999 Question
Off the wall replied to DarkShadow73's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As someone who grew up in Detroit with Chrysler products in the 50s and 60s, the front of the car most resembles a mid 60s full size Chrysler. I just can't see a challenger or charger in the design. And I raced enough of them on Telegraph Road and Woodward Ave in Detroit to know them and fear them. Ah, those were the days! My friend had a 440 Cuda. We raced a 454 Chevy Chevel on interstate 75 just north of Detroit. I was a passenger in the Cuda. When we finally got half a car length ahead of the Chevy and the race ended, the speedometer was at 145 mph. More fun than Lego, but a bit more dangerous. But, at that age. I was invincible. -

I am still hoping for a building that is more at the core of most cities. Hospital, museum, school, post office, police station. Hoping....... but as long as the building design makes sense, I can always change the subject matter regarding the occupancy. -
[MOC] Citroen DS
Off the wall replied to bmacro's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Outstanding! Back I the 70s, my neighbor in Denver had one. You should set up an assembly line, start cranking them out and sell them. I'll take a couple! -
This should really be submitted to lego ideas, or whatever they call it now. It's better than just about everything there.
