Mine invite is for the 22nd. The one on the 22nd appears to be the only one that involves an invitation and an early opening. The idea is for invitees to get stuff a week early and some discounts, gifts (which, I guess, is stating the obvious). Anything after the 22nd will probably be the usual Christmas shopping zoo with screaming kids, frustrated parents, etc..... Since the new modular and new Star Wars set won't be available, I'll struggle to find a lot that I want.

My card says 9 to 10 am, which means the store is opening an hour early for those who received 'the card'. I spoke with a store manager and they are keeping close track of rsvps to make sure they have an accurate head count for the special event. At least at the store where I go, it's not open to all. Invitation only. I skipped it last year, but will probably attend this year despite my loathing of the mall culture.....

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

That's an accurate assessment as far as modulars go. TH and GE are history, PS will be around for a while. -

I hope the emphasis on the building is minimalized and we get hundreds, if not thousands, of interesting little accessories that I can integrate into my doll collection. -

That's the best yet! I could really buy into that concept. -
My mail was on hold while I was out of town. It was delivered today. Buried within the large stack of catalogues (from which I will probably not order anything) was my invite from Lego. My store is North Pointe Mall in Alpharetta, GA. They are a first rate group. Think I'll do my rsvp in person and buy something that I really don't need. Maybe the Ewok Village. Because, after all, 'it takes a village'.

Okay, back on topic. So, when is TH going to be retired? -
Payton had an off game. Doesn't happen too often in the regular season.

Actually, its a very old set. And not near as rare or valuable as CC, MS or GG. -

Well, Andy D, its like this. I was making the six hour drive home this morning to Atlanta from Ponte Vedra, Florida. The adaptive cruise control almost lets the car drive itself of a long trip. So, I asked my wife about having a contest to pick the PS retirement date. She said it probably wouldn't fly with the powers that be. So, not wanting to start a problem, I'll refrain from any attempts at starting a contest. But, my final guess is February 29, 2016 for PS retirement. I would like to know what others think the exact date will be of the PS retirement. Automatic disqualification if anyone offers an explanation of why they chose a date since, after all, most of the explanations and reasoning are speculative BS. Actually, all of them appear to be. No offense. The one coming closest to the actual retirement date, as determined by the date it shows retired on the US Lego shop at home website, has the honor or being right and feeling all warm and fuzzy about it. So, its not a contest. Just the usual unfounded speculation. But this time with an actual date. -

Thanks for recognizing my intent! Besides, he asked what we thought. Now, after a good nights sleep at a resort over looking the beach, I think March 5, 2015. That's what I 'think'. :-) -

Hey, if you change your mind about the promotional christmas item, just send me a message. We've exchanged emails, earlier in the year. You shouldn't miss out if you want it. I have some extras. You can have one if you want. Just send me a message. I ship UPS.

Got one last year and didn't use it. Told store mgr I didn't want one this year. I hate the mall.

If you do a search, you can go back and find where last years event was discussed in detail. Since I'm lazy, I didn't do the search. But, the topic has been discussed. In much detail. Edit.....went back and found it. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88578&hl=

Yes, totally safe.....provided you have TLGs actual sales and marketing strategy and plans and reliable sales data that would support a two year life span. -

As for me, I really don't have any idea as to TLGs plans. I don't know their sales statistics, profitability per set or future release schedule. Nor do I think they will necessarily retire sets in the order they were released. If PS is still generating good sales and profit, whereas TH isn't, then as a business decision it seems as if TH should bite the dust first. Obvioisly, this thread is based mostly on speculation and personal opinion, not fact. If you want a set, buy it as soon as your circumstances permit. That's the only advice I have. As for Lego's plans, I haven't much of a clue. But I do find all of the speculation interesting......if, at times, just a bit strange. -

I agree completely. And, cafe/bike shop needs a major upgrade/renovation to fit in with the real modulars. -

PS has been around for a while and it's a nice set. I'd buy it this week. Why? Double points AND you just never know......
