  1. 8288 B model gets my vote for looking more impressive than the A model.
  2. Novvember Vic Viper: Blade Runner Blade Runner by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Optional front blade. Blade Runner by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  3. Excellent work squeezing it all into a small shunter body. I find that IR works well too in a room with not too far ceiling and walls.
  4. EMD stands for Electromotive Division. It's the part of General Motors that makes locomotives. EMD labels their locomotives with SD or GP or F or E. The difference is usually the number of axles in the power trucks. GP (general purpose Geep) has 4 axles B-B trucks. SD (super duty) has 6 axles, C-C trucks. F and E locomotives used mainly for passenger service. Fs are B-B and Es are C-C. This is from the top of my head based on what I remember from reading Model Railroader magazines in the 1990s. It may be a bit outdated.

@ep3_lol, that looks like fun. How do you keep your 2002 so new looking? My 2002 Civic is giving me grief. Somehow the stablilizer link broke.
  6. Thanks all. I have and it wasn't easy. I don't think rotary snow plows move as fast as the wedge plows when they are plowing snow. There may be time to escape. Hmm, that's an idea. It might be possible to modify the blades and box so that it throws snow. I've seen G scale rotary plows working in garden railways against light flluffy snow.
  7. Cool. Nice use of monorails. Any shots of it working? Do you use a PF train controller for control it?
  8. I found my old GBC threads: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86784 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85731 Marbles are heavier than Lego balls. You'll need more force if your module shoots balls like into a basketball hoop.
  9. Yes, they are standard 14mm balls. Current sets that have them are the Friends sets. There are older balls from soccer and basketball sets and those balls are more expensive. An alternative are cheap 14mm jewelery beads from China through eBay. I did a review of the cheap beads. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86686 You don't have to stick with the standard ball size if you don't plan to have your GBC compatiable with other people's GBCs. Following the GBC standard is important if you ever plan to have your GBC displayed at events and shows as part of a bigger GBC display with others.
  10. Will you be going through and indexing all the previous GBC MOCs? The index could be pinned.
  11. Welcome aboard.
  12. At least, not yet. I think there is a LUG in Winnipeg. Maybe in time. I'm in Ontario. It is only takes me 3 days to drive to Manitoba. So 3 days to get to the PAB wall in Toronto.
  13. Good work on your first engine. Is it a EMD SD9 or SD7 or maybe an ALCO unit? I think it would look better if the body was centered on the chassis.
  14. Thank you all for your kind words. It is best to avoid standing in the front of a moving rotary snow plow unless you are able to get out of the way in time.
  15. Yup, the 88002 doesn't have a cable connector that get caught in the opening in the bottom of the short base. That causes the motor not to pivot in a curve. Thanks. I love the look from the 1980s. I still have some booklets from that era of trains. I couldn't afford to buy them back then as a poor university student. One thing good about Lego I can still MOC more or less to that style.
  16. Nice. I saw photos from Kidfest posted on Brickshelf the other day. I thought some of the trains and train station looked familiar.
  17. Looks like a creator set 4939 cool cars. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4939-1
  18. I live in snowy Canada where the rotary snow plow was invented. Presenting my friendly rotary snow plow. rotary snow plow by dr_spock_888, on Flickr The blades are driven by a M-motor and controlled by an IR receiver.
  19. I moved the IR receiver to the roof. I reused the M-motor for a rotary snow plow MOC. I'm going to have to order a 88002 PF Train Motor. I have an 8866 train motor but the extension cable is causing problems with the truck turning. I'll worry about that next year before show season.
  20. Cool van. Very nice. Do you have a video?
  21. Nice. I like your water wheel design. Is Ann Lee topless?
  22. Thanks for the kind words.
  23. MOW WOW. Looks great. Is it functional?
  24. Welcome aboard. Which part of Canada are you from?
