  1. LOL. The Unimog didn't seem to go up that much in price. It was $250 CAD originally. Now it is going for around $280 CAD new on Bricklink.

  3. I should add if you belong to a LUG or club, you may have to build your event display train MOCs to your LUG's standards. Some LUGs are stricter than others on the consistency of the consists. You could end up with play for your home layout and realism for public displays with your buddies.
  4. I remember those red hook couplers. Back then a healthy dose of imagination was all that you needed to give those toys some realism. You didn't even have to build for minifigs since they weren't invented yet.
  5. It would involve chemistry and electricity if you're using the electroplating method. The plastic surface would have to be treated with copper or nickel first before it can be electroplated. I think there are hobby DYI plastic chrome plating kit.
  6. Let's see. 100 bags of 48 pieces each for $484.99 CAD. That comes out to 10.1 cents CAD per piece. It seems cheaper for the corporate trainer to buy the pre-packaged polybags than to hire someone to scout Bricklink, order the pieces and put into ziplock bags.
  7. I think that falls under posting in "old" topics per the site guidelines versus actual spam.

  10. I prefer the thinner old capes for displaying. The new ones seem like they can handle playing more without leaving a permanent crease if you bent it too much. They look like a thick winter cape on a fig which might work for a Frozen set.
  11. Could the metal rail not be Kragle (glued) to the plastic rail to keep it in place? Adhesives might be a simpler solution to complex mold and metal work. You could drill holes or make indentations in the metal rail and have tabs molded in the plastic rail to click in the hold the metal rail.
  12. I don't think Arocs have portahubs like the Unimog. You can download the PDF instructions for the sets your interested in from LEGO.com or Brickset to get an idea of the build and parts.
  13. I can safely say all my train sets are built or parted into other train MOCs. I have some sets from other themes that I haven't got around to building. They are buried inside a storage closet. I guess out of sight, out of mind. I don't remember them until each time someone posts a topic about unbuilt sets.
  14. Presenting a Power Miners build. I made this rock crusher for my 365 day photo project. You can find crushers at mine sites reducing large pieces into smaller ones. It seems to be jammed, send the new guy to clear it. Don't press Start. Day 290 of 365: Unjamming the Rock Crusher by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  15. I was thinking the same thing while watching the videos.
  16. I believe ministickers.nl has reproduction stickers. http://ministickers.nl/shop/product-category/trains-2/77xx-78xx-2/
  17. Clever use of HO scale code 100 nickel silvered rail.
  18. Welcome to Eurobricks.
  19. Welcome aboard, Hogfather.
  20. It is possible to block YouTube users if required. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/56113?hl=en
  21. I think Creator buildings is fine for a layout. It could work for a less dense area like the country side or suburbia. It would be cheaper than using modulars that some folks prefer. But for a city downtown core, taller buildings would be better. It's your layout, do what you want. I use rechargeable AAA batteries. I don't screw down the battery box cover and in my MOCs, they are easily accessible to swap out batteries.
  22. You are not obliged or legally required to sell anything or even make instructions. Tell them they are entitled to make their own MOC and send them on their merry way.
  23. Great review and clear pictures. I like this set as a parts pack. Lots of nifty colour pieces for MOCs. It would be fun to use Elsa and Anna in a MOC or two at the LUG's public displays.
  24. Welcome aboard.
  25. I really like the skunk and pig. Shark guy reminds me of the shark men in the old Atlantis theme.
