The green Led on the IR remote will light when you move a lever forward or backwards. It is not lit when the levers are in the middle position (off). If your batteries are old and weak, the Led will look very dim. The Led on the IR receiver will light a solid green when it receives power from the battery box. When the receiver receives a command from the IR remote, the solid green Led will blink beliefly as it digests the command.

I am being good this Xmas. I received a set from the LUG's Xmas party and I built it right away. My backlog did not grow.

Does anyone else live in fear... (of new sets missing pieces)
dr_spock replied to Farmer Harv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't live in fear unless it is an out of production set and a very expensive piece to replace. The only set I had a problem with was Fire Brigade. Not sure if my cat ran off with a piece or it was really missing from the set. I grab a piece from my collection and continued the build. I didn't bother calling LEGO since I was underpressure to get it assembled for a new LEGO store opening. -
Topic has discussed before but not recently. Yes and no. I save some boxes if they have some value to me, otherwise they are queued to recycle. My recycle pile is getting big, I should get around to actually taking it out to the curb. It was a blast to find boxes I saved from 1980. Not sure I'll still be around when the 2015 set boxes are 30 years-old.

Now that some of you have started seeing the movie, shall we not come back to this thread until after we've seen the movie?

GBC 2D Printer
dr_spock replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Neat. Black and Pearl Gold look good. I've seen something similar before in a GBC sorting white and orange balls to spell out LEGO in a matrix before dumping out the balls. -
Why would be unfathomable? Their IT priority might be more focused now on keeping the ordering system and site working for the big Christmas shopping season. People can get around the expired certificate by adding an exception in their web browser if they really must get on the Ideas site.

Are Clone Lego Brands bad for LEGO?
dr_spock replied to The Steward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ball point pens were patented around 1945 by Biro. Patents typically last up to 20 years (or 17 years from issue). Expiring can be good for others to get into the market to provide more choices to consumers and can help lower the prices like in health and medicine.- 70 replies

Are Clone Lego Brands bad for LEGO?
dr_spock replied to The Steward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The LEGO brick was in part based off Kiddiecraft's patented automatic locking bricks. A few decades later LEGO bought the rights to Kiddiecraft.- 70 replies

Somebody at LEGO let their security certificate expired and didn't renew it.... ideas.lego.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate expired on 12/12/2015 02:58. The current time is 12/12/2015 16:39. (Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate)

Neat idea. You could motorize it and have the guns go in and out like they're firing and recoil. Motion like this MOC's mechanism.

Suggest that the wheels with technic axles holes not be used for the entire train. Their rolling friction will drag down your train if you are pulling several cars running on them.
