  1. Great job! I really liked the LR coach but agree on the size; this one seems much better scaled overall, and keeps all of the features and shape! My only complaint would be that the boot seems a little bulgy, but that's a pretty minor thing.
  2. Yep. Your turn!

  4. I'll add story tomorrow, but at least the photos are here for now. UPDATE: Story below (a long one ), pics same as before. "Dearly Beloved, we gather today to mourn the passing of one among us, MANTIS scientist 1st Class Scorpio Starstriker. His life was [...]" AG week 50 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Jex shrugged and tried to stay awake. She didn't want to be here, despite her doctor's insistence. "It'll help you find closure," he said, "to put the whole episode behind you." Hmmmph. While Scorpio's death was still fresh on the minds of everyone at MANTIS, it had been two years ago for her. She had already done her grieving. After the explosion and all the mysterious circumstances that followed it, Scorpio had been all she had. She had tended to his wounds as best as she could, but in the deep swamp of...wherever it was they had ended up on, she couldn't even remember...there was no helping him. She talked to him, and sometimes he talked back, and then he was gone and that was that. She was alone. But his death steeled her will to survive. She held out hope that MANTIS would somehow find them. She looked up again at the ceremony, trying to gauge how much longer it would go on. She didn't see a reason why she should be here, although she did think it nice that Scorpio was finally being laid to rest. AG week 50 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr "And now while Brother Armando plays a hymn on the organ, Brother Jacobim will offer a solemn chant as we prepare to give our final respects. The doors you see behind me symbolize death, the portal that will take the deceased to the great beyond..." "Too late,' Jex smirked. 'He's already at the 'great beyond', or whatever it is you call it, Father. Two years ago." The music was soothing, though. Perhaps her doctor was right, and this would help her find a little more closure. She didn't share the beliefs of the priests of the order of San Corbin (having been a Davidite in her youth), so while she found their practices somewhat silly, yet she admired their dedication to them. She was aware that everyone was beginning to stand and approach the casket. She remained seated, allowing the others to leave before rising herself. AG week 50 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr "Poor Scorpio. You really didn't have a chance. Perhaps, if there is another place you've gone to, it will treat you better than this world has." AG week 50 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Jex was surprised by Brother Jacobim standing behind her. "Pardon my interruption, but are you Jessica DuBois?" "Yes, what do you need?" "Well, we have some documents we need you to sign. Next of kin sort of stuff." "I'm...not his next of kin." "I know that, but your corporation said since he had no next of kin that you would be the closest..." "I'm not. Before he died he told me he had a sister that was also at MANTIS." "A sister? Well our MANTIS rep made no mention of that. Well his belongings were entrusted to us after the funeral arrangements were made, but it seems then that we cannot transfer them to your custody as we were instructed." "How long can you hold them?" "Well there isn't much, but to be rid of it all sooner I'll say...a week? maybe two?" "Fine. That should give me time to find her and let you know where to forward them to." "Very well, thank you miss. My condolences." AG week 50 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Jex turned and headed for the door. She was intrigued by what Scorpio might have left behind, and also wondering, if Scorpio's sister was also at MANTIS, why didn't she attend the funeral? **************** Last week was my 1 year mark, but I was unable to get anything built. Oh well, Scorpio was already dead then anyway. I thought of using this post to reminisce of some of my builds from the past year, but the story had too much going forward to take very long looking back. C&C welcome! 5. Not to mention a handful of titles by Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Arthur Conan Doyle and Ian Fleming, uh Shakespeare, The Bible, Nicholas Sparks romance novels (I swear, there must be like 20 movies just from his oeuvre alone), and anything based off of a fairy tale, each of which has multiple film versions. There is simply too vast a body of work and an impractically huge number of authors. Oh, and comic books are books, too. Methinks the topic a little broad for definitive discussion. Or are we supposed to talk about Dan Brown, Jane Austen, and Garfield in the same topic? Heck, there are some in my family who could go on for hours discussing which version of Pride and Prejudice (counted in hours) is preferable based on casting alone.
  6. Warcraft. There was a lot I liked, but more that I sort of just shrugged at. The animation on the orcs and the magic was really amazing, but that was about the only thing in the movie that seemed fully realized. As for the rest--story, script, characters, etc.--everything was lacking a little too much everywhere, to where the whole movie was largely unsatisfying. There was a little too much (nigh gratuitous) on-screen brutality for my taste, and some disturbing scenes; not a movie I am likely to see ever again. Lucky me I saw it for free. (For context, I am only familiar with the franchise to the extent that the games were DOS-based )

  8. As far as height, since they mentioned it they almost surely already have achieved it. Once they know they have the market for an idea and the rights to it, they get down to seeing if it can be built with existing production capacities and to quality standards. They have to make sure those things are possible before they announce it.
  9. Informative and entertaining review! I can't wait for the second half. ...and seeing all the wonderful parts and build techniques has me pretty much convinced I need this set.

  11. I feel a little spoiled seeing these pictures so early...not like spoiler spoiled, but like given too much of a nice thing. I feel like we're still reeling from the latest wave of great Marvel stuff from Lego...
  12. Great review, well written with good pictures, thanks! This set holds nothing for me than all those great light browns and 2x2 jumpers. If I found it for half off I might consider it, but it's too overpriced for just a parts pack
  13. Is there any restriction on what kind of buildings we might base our entry on? I am wondering specifically about religious-themed buildings but the question might apply to other buildings such as casinos, etc, that also fall outside of what TLG is willing to produce.
  14. underestimate
  15. I like the use of colors, especially the bright colors against the grey. It fits thematically with the board, too.
  16. Thanks for the clarification, Bob! I didn't expect to disrupt things so much by discarding the knobs (I honestly was worried a half a dozen other people would submit some kind of joystick system!) There is a little play in it, mostly in the center, but the control is fairly responsive throughout its range of motion. There is a slightly smaller range of movement in one direction, and this is seen at the end of the video when the ball gets a little bit hung up on the edge of a tile.
  17. I am very fond of the clear printed decals. I feel like they are durable enough to be reused on multiple pieces, and can be used on any piece, including transparent parts. However, I hate the papery stickers with a colored background--they flake and tear and don't peel off entirely, and the printed background is never the same color as the piece they are supposed to be applied to. I keep them, but can't recall ever applying them, whether in MOCs or sets.
  18. Wow! That is massive! The attention to the interiors is a really nice touch, and makes it more than just a maze stand. ..how long to you think it would take to get the ball back up to the top?
  19. Very fun design, I like the racing motif around the base (which goes really well with your Cat A entry, also!) I really like how well the Technic elements fit in, as well.
  20. UPDATE: I have added a video to the original post. It is hosted on Flickr, so clicking it or the link below it will take you to that site to view it. Thanks everybody for the encouraging comments! Because, as i know about that, this must be use the same system. Thanks for the heads-up. I read the rules, and saw nothing that would make this concept ineligible; it is compatible with any standard board, the function--tilting a board to move the ball to navigate the maze--remains the same. Perhaps the added functionality is that it only requires on knob to control it.
  21. Aha! So now we can say words like juniorized without running into <insert that tiresome argument>.
