People complain about sets that come back every few years. But people also complain about sets that do not come back, and then reach high prices on BL :D

That red train reminds me this HO train I had as kid: http://www.reynaulds.com/products/Lima/2029 (probably the same DB train engine used as reference model in the Brickshelf photo posted previously)

The extra windows in front like you did look much better indeed. 4 studs between each window is too much.

Yes we know that in US the calendar had three vouchers vs. only one for the EU, hence the rant :p
-
Same in France :/ (and so I guess in Belgium ? Is the voucher I got from France valid also in the Belgian store?) I'm in Belgium, in the middle of the country, the capital, and the store of Belgium is also 45 min away for me ;) And I even usually go to the one in north of France (Lille), a little further away, but some sets are cheaper in France... About price comparison, do not forget that you have to remove the 21% VAT from EU prices to compare them to the US prices as these are tax excluded, (even if the tax in US is lower).
-
The same as what I found in France, except the headlights & seats. I see on brickbuildr that they now have the headlight, I guess the seats will arrive later then. Impressive how they have a consistency between all their store wall inventories nowadays. I still hope some day to get the 1x1 round tiles like many others...

Indeed, that gives a more realistic window size. As said by droomangroup it would look better with trans-black rather than trans-clear, but I suppose you do not have enough of these small windows in that color?
-
One of the interests of the Maersk train is also its unusual color (unique to the few Maersk sets)
-
Nice photos :) About cats & trains, I do not have a permanent display so my cats don't have anything to mess up, but when I tested trains they were quite intrigued. I made some time ago that video that some may already have seen as I posted it previously;

Great build!

Nicely done Even if that was like that on the original, the Windows seem a little big though, for a camper. Maybe something 2-brick-hight rather than 3-brick-high?

What the color change in the Green baseplates?
antp replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
US prices displayed on the site and shops do not include taxes, if I'm right. UK price without VAT (21%?) would be around 5.8£, that makes 8.6$, "only" 0.6 more than the US price then. And then the EU 8 € price with taxes becomes 6.6 € without taxes, around 7.5$ -
With two of the new ones you can't put them one over the other like that, no? (I always keep an old one for cases like that)

They often make set before the release of the movie: scenes may have been cut from the movie after they designed the set. Something similar occurred with one of the Gardians of the Galaxy sets, the structure in http://brickset.com/sets/76020-1 was not found in the movie anymore, if I remember well.

Half the price seems still a lot for something that seem quite low quality... -
The idea isn't bad indeed, but the big slope piece + the bumber makes the front really too long IMHO (too much overhang)

You can also contact the seller before placing the order to be sure it is the right part in the right color, that there isn't a mistake in his shop inventory

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
antp replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The latest complains were from European members, but previously I had the opposite feeling, it seemed to me that in this thread most of the people having these problems were in North-America -
You can still contact the seller just in case, but it is probably an error indeed. Bricklink shows it in Pink only from Paradisa sets (and those from these sets are definitely different from current Bright Pink parts), not known from sets in Bright Pink. Just one seller there too for Bright Pink, probably an error too.

I tried to widen the bumper when I made the hood/front changes, but then the binoculars between bumper and wheel are in the way. Also, the curved brick does not seem to exist in flat silver.

I went to the store of Lille (France) The pile of parts outside the cups is because the cashier dropped the biggest of the two cups when taking it She was hoping to be able to put everything in it, but it was well packed, so she had to put the remaining in a small bag Amongst the new things (or that seemed to be) : blue 1x8 tiles, tan & medium blue 1x2 plates, medium azure 2x4 bricks (or dark azure? same color as the 1x2 seen previously) dark pink 1x2 bricks in addition to the 1x4 and 2x2 already seen, grey and transclear 2x2 slopes and finally transclear 1x1 round plates (I already got many other types, but I still didn't had much of that type) but still no 1x1 round tile...

In the movie the car had a light grey translucent band in front of the bumper, hence why they made it white rather black. Ref pics: http://www.imcdb.org/i002059.jpg / http://pics.imcdb.or...0050zq.8503.jpg Correct color for that could be either light grey (too similar to the car itself) or very light grey (not many parts available in such color...) so I kept it in white for now. Something missing in the mods shown above is that the front between grille and hood is a darker grey (in plastic on the real car). So on mine I used dark grey plates for that (and increased the thickness by 1 plate, as the front seemed a little short) and of course I also did the change of the hood : http://imgur.com/a/By7Bv But I'll definitely try to change of A-pillars using misupix's idea.

Natural light (but not sun) works well to see the difference. Alternatively, an incandescent lights like Philips' "Daylight" bulb works well too (that's what I use on my Lego building & sorting table). The CFLs that I have give the same yellowish light as traditional incandescent bulbs, so they do not help at all to differentiate the colors.
