  1. The original movie was released 30 years ago. Back then a 59 Cadillac was just an old car, not yet a timeless classic. In the movie it was supposed to be just an old clunker. Now a 80s car is the same. To me they chose well: having a classic 59 Cadillac in a movie made today would not fit in the same way.
  2. Beautiful! I also like to see modern MOCs using a few old unusual parts like that :) I try to do that too whenever possible.
  3. I sometimes get mail from the same house number in the street next to mine... but both streets have completely different unrelated names :D So I just go put their mail in their mailbox when it happens, hoping they do the same if the reverse situation happens :)
  4. I think so too, i was planning splitting the house into separate vignettes, one per room; that would make it easier to display
  5. Lego designers probably had access to much more material than just that single promo shot :p
  6. You compare collars on one promo picture (not even movie capture), are you sure that their collars stay exactly the same through the whole movie? :p As wilson3a10 suggested above, the uniforms are most likely the same, so collars appearance are maybe not unique to each character.
  7. I should have asked then, if that bin is still available there. I remember that when I went to Cologne long time ago that mixed parts bin was directly in the PaB wall.
  8. They solved it for the yellowing due to age, but I suppose there is still a risk with direct sunlight...
  9. In Germany it is 9.99 € for the small and 17.99 € for the large (I think the prices were the same in France & Belgium). If you re-use a cup you get a discount of 0.50 € and 0.75 € respectively.

    10251 Brick Bank

They included it in the mini-modulars set, so to me it was clear that it counts for TLG :)
  11. The various 1x6 shell bricks from Bricklink: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3009pb156#T=C http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3009pt1#T=C http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3009pb004#T=C check which writing style matches those you have, and then you have the possible sets including the parts
  12. There were threads with discussions about parts in "non-existing" colors like that. From what I remember, it seems that from time to time TLG produced such parts for internal use for their designers or for the Legoland parks, and that sometimes parts were sold outside either by members of TLG or directly in the shops of the parks.
  13. From today's trip to Köln (Germany) store: Some things already seen or mentioned here, but a few new ones (or that I forgot), black bar 4L, LBG brick 1x1 with bar, reddish brown slope 2x2x2, tan brick 1x2 with studs on side, orange slope 2x3, yellow brick 1x1 with stud on side, yellow & white cheese slopes 1x2, ...
  14. Thanks :) Indeed display space is a problem with that kind of sets. At least this one is narrow, it is easier than those with a big footprint both in width and depth.
  15. Nice :) I am planning to make "some day" something similar, in the same scale but as a much bigger/wider footprint to go with my modified Maersk ship where I also used 1x2 containers: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117514&hl=
  16. In the same way, at the time of the movie the good electronic things were made in Japan and crap things in China; nowadays good things are also made in China.
  17. I wonder if they have upper & lower parts of turntables in equal quantities. As the lower part tends to be used as decoration, I guess that in the end they'll have useless upper parts remaining when the lower part will be "sold out". (I haven't yet seen turntables in PaB, but when/if I do I'd take more lower parts than upper parts...)
  18. Yes, a blue plate that disintegrated when using the separator: (I probably already posted this here) The only difference compared to most of the posts here, is that this blue part is from good old Lego, from end of 70s/early 80s (classic space)
  19. I got one cracked 1x1 dark red tile like that from my parts stock (I think it is the only case I got, except a few from the 70s/80s that died due to heavy play or age) Maybe it was an extra one from the Fire Brigade... I haven't checked all those on my Fire Brigade; the few I quickly observed seem fine, but it is built since I got it; maybe they'll crack the day I'll dismantle/rebuild it. Maybe it was one coming from somewhere else, possibly from the same bad batch as yours then.

I'm not a very big fan of tan, and we already had a few buildings in that color, so white for a change is fine to me :)
  21. Well done!

    10251 Brick Bank

That's what I was planning to do, going to Germany (from Brussels to Köln) to buy the bank + the Ghostbusters building, saving 70€ compared to the S@H price. And as I don't have a wife to take for lunch, I'll even spare on that :D
  23. Yes, I was happy to discover this morning that I won the prize F, what a suspense until then :) (I was hoping getting either E or F) Sending you the address right now
  24. It is from another Lego Movie set: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=2431pb342#T=C
