Indeed the 1x2x2 brick seems pretty useless. Only case it is interesting is when printed. Or transparent... but that later case do not seem to have been used.
-
Indeed, it happens they made slight changes to moulds when they have the opportunity, cf the hollowed "pin" in some bricks and plates to save on plastic (even if the non-hollowed version is still in use), or the groove added to the jumper plate (and later the bottom changed to allow to use it as jumper also "from under") About the parts never made, this link was posted recently in another thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22649&st= we can indeed wonder why these parts don't exist. Well there are much newer parts than the double-studded plate that were copied, so it is not an issue there I think. Maybe just for pride: they don't want to do it after the other one
-
They can easily move when you add/remove accessories from the clip. Also, as I said, when used in a wall that looks better than an assembly of plates. Even if the part isn't so "useful", it is not so useless either. There are so many worse ones ;) For the classic 2x4 bricks, but there are a lot of newer parts that were also copied. There isn't a patent for each part (and I doubt there could be one), it is just part design based on a global system (of which the patent expired).
-
Seeing all the parts "copied" from Lego, I do not really see how a competitor could sue Lego if they do a new parts after them. Especially an "obvious one".
-
They made some as prototype, someone posted photos of that some time ago (but they are not online any more) with other non-existing parts. I guess there are reasons why they didn't put it in production.
-
Yes, I didn't mention that one because it is part of the Junior line, so it has its reasons. Unlike the other one which was in the regular Town/City line, replacing the better-looking vehicles of the 80s/90s.

I do not really agree. It is like saying a 1x1 brick is pointless because you could stack three 1x1 plates ;) Like for the 1x1xN bricks, this brick with clip avoids alignment problems and probably looks better when used in the middle of a wall. However for the 2x2xN and 2x4xN bricks are really useless: the normal 2x2 and 2x4 are already well aligned and well attached when stacked. Really useless parts can be found in the late 90s / early 00s sets, in Lego's dark times. One of those that horrified me back then is this car base: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=30235 even the wheel holders are just molded with the base like if they were additional parts glued to it you could do the same with several basic parts (plates, brick, inverted slopes, wheel holder) without loosing solidity of the final model edit: there is even a second one similar: https://www.bricklin...tem.asp?P=30277 ... couldn't they use just that one and add a few plates to it? They achieved to make a metapart based on a metapart. There's also a longer version: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30262

Video: The only LEGO Store in Belgium and the Netherlands
antp replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in General LEGO Discussion
He's not taking much risk saying that I guess that some day they'll open one in Brussels and in some big Netherlands cities. As they open several ones in France.- 4 replies

Nice part usage :) Well done indeed

They should also promote what, why it is useful for small parts and and how to use it: some people wonder what's that weird orange part that came with their set For some sets these are mandatory. I can't imagine disassembling a set like Robie House without a brick separator... (and surprisingly, that set didn't include one, luckily I had 20 from other sets)

I thought I commented here, but it seems I didn't. Well I'm pleased to finally see a zoo made with Duplo animals. Since some time I thought it should be possible to do something interesting with these, as many animals exists in Duplo but not in Lego. Good idea to make a Friends version, it works well with the Duplo style, the whole thing is coherent, good work!

For the dark red 75° slope, use 4460b instead of 4460a. They will look identical and the "b" version is cheaper. Also you can order it directly even cheaper from Lego's Bricks & Pieces service for 0.57 € each (and shipping is not too expensive, it is 1.80 € for many EU countries for example) as it was used in the just released set 41075. For less-common parts still in production it is often a good alternative to Bricklink.

I was fed up seeing this ugly limousine parked in front of my modular buildings, so heavily inspired by the models made by Missing Bricks, yesterday I finally decided to modify it too. As I wanted to use the chrome wheels I bought from ChromeBricks, I had to make wheel arches differently, since the parts allowing to use these wheels properly with the arches work for 4-wide vehicle, but do not exist for 6-wide. Also, I don't have black 1x3x2 doors in my inventory so I used tiles, handles and clips. I kept the original car length. The reduced arches length allowed to have four doors instead of only two. For practical reason, the rear doors open in the other way, like on the 1961-1969 Lincoln Continental, a well known 4-door convertible limousine. Even if it became a famous feature of that car, that's also originally for practical reason that Lincoln engineers did that back then, by the way :D (according to Wikipedia) Related page: https://antp.be/lego/moc/10232-limousine.php (though that all the info and photos are already here)

One big reason is for selling in China without having to pay high import costs. Seeing how big that market is, it is logical for Lego to produce locally for that market.

I have 6668 hence why I saw it somewhere

grey one = http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=4531 edit: missed beatpoet's post who already said it I think I saw the red one, but I don't recall where. I'll check in my inventory... edit: something similar: http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2650 Does it match the other side?

Is Bricklinking a set always this hard?
antp replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One of the reasons why it is best to start by the specific/rare parts, and when ordering these trying to get other more common ones at the same time -
I should have taken more of the bricks with stud... I hope they'll still be there next time I go to the store.
-
You just have to compare the lists of sets that include these "parts", no? If both come from the same set, there are only two containing them at the same time: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=1822-1 https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6195-1

Results from my visit to Lille (France) store: Lots of new parts, most were already seen on this thread, though: LBG & tan 1x4 bricks LBG 1x1 round tiles (finally! I see these all the time here, it is the first time I can get them) LBG 2x2x2 slopes DBG 2x2 inverted slopes green 1x2 brackets red 1x2 tiles dark red 1x2 bricks (I see these since my first trip to that store years ago, each time I take a few) tan 1x2 plates (they were not on the wall, I asked if they had 1x2 plates in grey or similar color, that was all that they had in stock) green 1x2 plates with clips + plates with handle (not sure I took equal quantities, I just took a handful of each) green & LBG 2x2 plates green 1x2 & 1x4 curved slopes redbrown 1x4 tiles white 1x1 round tiles with eye pattern green 1x1 headlight brick LBG 1x1 brick with stud on side white 1x2 plate with 2 handles white 1x4x3 window + glass green hinge plates Two models made from PaB parts were displayed: I updated the list on http://www.brickbuil...b/side/off/107/ but it is not easy since the site has a few bugs, and missing parts & pics.

110-2, 166-2, 545-2 and two sets from 1971 numbered 1 (1-10) and 3 (3-8) so for these without seeing Bricklink images it will be difficult I guess

It happened that they produce smooth slopes, but there were complains from what I remember. And indeed, I am a part of those who like that texture on slopes: prevents from having shiny roofs reflecting light, that's more realistic.

Can I have more than one bag on pickabrick?
antp replied to bemuser's topic in General LEGO Discussion
On PaB they may make separate bags for large amount of parts. Previously I ordered 200 white tiles + a few various other parts, I got one bag just for the tiles and one bag for all the other parts which were each in small quantities.
