Thanks for that link. I discover on that I am not the only one with a 2x2 brick of an unreferenced blue, as he referred my post on http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=67887&st=325#entry1552517 :D

Yes, it is a known problem that ParaPink and Pink are listed together (the former one was replaced by the second in mid-90s) Visually they are as different as the old gray and the light bluish gray. http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=871357

I had a similar incident with a blue 1x8 plate: it is a part from classic space era (around early 80s), I guess it aged badly, the plastic of the part became very fragile, I do not know what caused it

Eventually finished... I found I way to attach the seats to the table: I also added the missing lamp near the window, and replaced the coffee table: As I replaced it by one that allows to display that MOC: General view: There are still some details to change: the balcony that I have to re-do, the table that could be done better, some missing details or things that changed "in real", etc. I should also do better photos of each room.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
antp replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I also added lattice. I tested both, as I found the gold ones to stand out a little too much, but the black ones fit less with the rest of the building. And I used black ones for the Pet Shop. Photos of the two: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5786503 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5786081 (bad lighting, sorry, I quickly made these long time ago) -

Indeed Lego's Bright Blue is Bricklink's regular Blue, cf http://www.peeron.com/inv/colors
-
Indeed, in plain light the difference is very visible. Bricklink's "light gray" = peeron's "old gray" (not available from Lego since about 10 years) Bricklink's "light bluish gray" = peeron's "md stone" (the current one sold by Lego) cf http://www.peeron.com/inv/colors

Long time since the last update, I had some time in the last weeks so I could work on the project which arrives to the end. As I decided to keep that MOC built, I started to replace some parts. One of the flaws was the basis (ground), made afterwards and not very rigid (1-plate tick). Moreover, it was using a large part of the big plates that I have, mostly dark grey. So I searched a more efficient (and cheap) solution. Large plates are rather clostly per stud. The cheapest I could find were the 4x6. I made a model in LDD to know how much of these I had to order. A Bricklink shop in Belgium (to keep postage costs low) had just the right amount at a right price. The next days when I wanted to order I discovered that half of the stock was gone... so I had to re-do the LDD model using some 2x6 instead, as the cost of two 2x6 was similar to one 4x6, and the shop had plenty of these. So I made a base with two layers of plates, which is more solid than the simple layer of large plates: (the colors in LDD were used just to make it easier visually) The most difficult was then to separate walls from ground: Using many small plates rather than large ones has a big advantage: if I need to access the middle of a room with a tiled floor, I can do it rather easily from under. And indeed I needed to do that to do some changes, so that assembly of "small" plates was a good choice. For the office/storage room made in sand green, I optimized the parts usage: I used damaged white parts (just dirty/yellowed, not deformed) for the few non-visible parts, and I used 1x2s (that I have in larger amounts) for the less visible parts, keeping most of the precious 1x4/1x6s for future MOCs. On the Lego B&P site, I addition of sand green bricks (to replenish my stock) I also ordered 1x2 sand green plates to replace the grey ones at the top of the wall (so only the top tiles are grey). And now, in the continuity of what I did previously, I finished the living room with the couch/TV side, which looks like this: And the Lego version: The floor; I spared tiles where they were not visible: The back of the big display case: The furniture under the window and the book case in the corner (placed at 45° angle) When putting all together I discovered that the furniture could not go under the window because of the curtains, I had to modify it a bit: Under the couch: Due to the color, the parts selection was rather limited; thanks to the second Town Hall that I bought for parts, I find the result rather good It is very fragile, but it stays in one piece while not touching it too much. General view: I replaced the tiles in front of the window by bars (bought in a previous Bricklink order), more similar to what is there in real, it looks better. I still have to re-do the balcony, maybe also with bars like that. When making the photos I still had to find how to attach the chairs to the ground or table (seeing here at the left of the MOC). That will be for the next update, all is finished now. I also saw afterwards that I forgot the halogen light at the right of the couch: it wasn't hard to do, just a bar and a round part. In the next weeks my coffee table will be replaced by one with a glass top, so I can properly show this MOC in my living room. But then I'll also have to replace the table in the Lego version

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
antp replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wouldn't these still be interesting stories? :) -
I usually use my nails, but they are rather strong and not too short: I keep 1 to 2 mm of white (I do not like having them cut just at the edge, and as I often wash my hands they do not get too dirty). When I was kid it was useful for Lego tiles/plates, removing stickers, opening packages, etc.. Now it is still useful for the same uses  But when you have to remove a large amount of tiles, that orange separator can be useful indeed. If you do not have one, something in wood or plastic would already be better than a metal screwdriver.

That seems a nice and modular system
-
The ball joins do not have that half-plate issue: they line up even when one is upside-down.
-
With the few references to Lego in the series, it is nice that Lego makes a reference back to the series :) The two main ones: http://bricks.inmovi.es/movie_898266_The-Big-Bang-Theory.html

General Part Discussion
antp replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Indeed these bricks/frames with pins seem so useless compared to the regular version to which you can add pins without much difference, the black pin hold firmly. As they complain about costs of moulds and storage of many different parts references, that seems so strange. Like the (non-Technic) 2x2x3 / 2x4x3 bricks. I get the point with the 1x5 / 2x5 which are more rigid, but for these 2xN bricks it also seems pointless to make a bigger simplified version: the normal bricks stacked together are already quite firmly attached.- 5,466 replies

One of the major problems of click hinges, in addition of not being only 1-plate-thick, is that when you place one of the parts upside-down you get a ½-plate offset :/ For a non-click hinge there are the plates with clip & plates with handle that can often be useful.

They used a few sand green for this 2015 sets: http://brickset.com/sets/31036-1/Toy-and-Grocery-Shop and this just released set: http://brickset.com/sets/79018-1/The-Lonely-Mountain though these aren't big sets with a lot of sand green indeed

When seeing the post about these non-existing parts, I was sure that you would post, 1974 I remember the never produced & purple technic parts that you posted on http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10689&st=175#entry1738379 :) But unfortunately I didn't save the pics back then, and the links are dead- 5,466 replies

possibly just a mould variation? since that window is compatible with http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3855 / http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3855a The one on BL should at least have a "partial" hole for these window

I do not really see this thread as a rant, but just as humour about the fact that some of us get a lot of these separators. As I have so many, I gave separators to two of my friends who restarted building Lego with SW and Technic sets, one already got a second separator in a SW set

Indeed, it would then be good with a more modern modular at the side, like if it was build after the house was abandoned. I really like this idea of a simple base for the house, well done. You could spare many tiles in the part covered by the house though - but I guess you got a lot of these from a pick-a-brick wall?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

From the poll I posted previously, that was rather PC which sold the most. Though that the poll was only on a limited audience (the Lego thread of a non-Lego French forum) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84574&st=1325#entry2025578
