[TRIPLE] Lifestyle machines
aol000xw replied to Doc_Brown's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The treadmill is mesmerizing, love the black links in the treads, looking like the sewings. But that Naruto guy is such a lazy dude, the treadmill is not going faster than 6 kph, next time call Rock Lee.for demostrations. -
[TRIPLE] Wind-up insectoids WIP
aol000xw replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The dragonfly first showed here is amazing but got quickly eclipsed by the way the crab moves -not smoothly- making it feel so lifelike! And the caterpillar, so unexpectedly funny. Your creative use of the pullback motors is very inspiring. -
There are some amazing entries, voting won't be easy. Edit: It is a bit of work, but a clean list (new post at the end of the entries thread? ) with just one picture of the 3 models together of every entry would be very helpful when voting, as a visual index or quick reference guide. I'd hate to forget an entry when casting those votes.

[REVIEW] 42024 - Container Truck
aol000xw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Loving your reviews. It looks weird that the chains link to the container on the upper rim. I think usually it is on the side. There are many little things on this set that don't look quite right or good.. -
[REVIEW] 42023 - Construction Crew
aol000xw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Excellent review. I am only missing the box weight. It's a useful data point usually neglected. -
Goal achieved man, it basically looks the same and it seems very tight turns capable. Video plz?

What you are saying is that you use overpriced tools in overpriced courses all with ridicously high profit margins. Sorry I won't fall for the hype, I spent a few years in that corporative environment. Is part of the machine and knowing it just makes everything more absurd. But ok, it is how it works so I can "understand" they charge whatever on manuals, training etc.The cost of developing is so.... ethereal that some people feel comfortable paying whatever for it. But I shall not discuss any further it's educative merits or real costs as it does not belong to these forums. The parts on the other hand... The parts are just parts. Lego isn't cheap to begin with, asking 3 times the price for the parts is ridiculous, no matter what the purpouse of that set of parts is. Furthermore If those prices are correct, as an AFOL I feel highly offensive that TLG makes available such highly sought after parts only in those sets. That is not the way to treat loyal customers, just to make some high higher margin sales.

Technic General Discussion
aol000xw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was wondering how does TLG numering for Technic sets work? -
Oh! I get it now, sorry did not read the description, "The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® program is a radical and innovative process designed to enhance business performance through building with LEGO bricks." So "Serious Play" is an euphemism for marketing crap, hence the price. Now let me fix it. "The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® program is a radical and innovative process designed to enhance TLG business performance through building with overpriced LEGO bricks."

New Akiyuki GBC
aol000xw replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is beauty in his designs, always built so clean and elegant. I always wonder why TLG does not make a technic GBC just to see if there is a market for it, after all there are tons of marble toys. If they were designed like Akiyuki's machines I would collect them and keep them built as a big GBC Just don't let the colorblind designers get into the GBC team. -
Rolligon 4x4
aol000xw replied to Doc_Brown's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For some reason I picture a seventies James Bond driving away in it over an iced lake dodging flying bullets, falling debris and explosions... wearing a suit and tie -

Base Technic Set - a Cuusoo idea?
aol000xw replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The full current technic catalog in the Pick a brick store would be way more interesting IMHO. -
[TRIPLE] Let's Go Gliding !
aol000xw replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yup, way better. -
You are right, in both accounts, furthermore part count can be misleading in regards to size. I just loved holding the mobile crane box and feeling its unusual weight. I still don't know how TLG model cycles work, there is a pattern for bigger sets but it looks to be for odd years: 2009 Crane Truck, 2011 Unimog, 2013 Mobile Crane Mk II. The Plane is closer -in part count, not size- to the Crawler so I am not sure if a "big model" is to be expected in 2014, be it at second half or at some arbitrary date or it won't happen until 2015. Hence my doubts. Oh, thank you, that is the kind of answer I was looking for.
