That plagiarism thing... IMHO it is more about the execution. I expect a lot of variations of the same and it will be awesome to see how the same thing can be so different. But whoever is worried about originality can simply wait until the last day. Of course in the meantime someone can make a WIP with the same idea and then waiting will be moot point

Lego Removal Tools
aol000xw replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Does it include a magnifying glass? -
It might make no sense, too wide range... for example 100 100 100 vs 700 400 400 A minimum might help. For example each model 300-700 totalling 1500 max aprox, tracks and chains not included perhaps?

Porsche 'Inner' Workings
aol000xw replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yep those touch on all those features. Scale is a big problem, shallow rims another one.One you try to design it properly your axle track goes up and up, and your wheels look ridicously small. -
You could take a mobile phone charger for example, in the range of the 5-10 volts and capable of 1.5+ amps and wire it to the motors just to verify they work well. Probably they do, I think the battery pack is suspect here. A Lipo battery can provide plenty of current, it depends on its specs. The Lego one can power one 5292 at full power, but that's all, it trips at 1.5 amps. I myself got a PF battery pack moded to use Lipos, 3s2p 9.6 volts 1400mAH 10C continuous / 20C Pulse 14 amps max sustained current draw So my pack can power 10 5292 motors. .

In the last few days I have seen at least three threads with many different autovalve designs all very interesting, with different strengths and weaknesses. But even the more compact designs look bulky when several valves need to be automated and those side pegs don't help at all. I wish TLG made some PF friendly valve.

Power pullers? Then those are not floatability aids, those are ballast

At first it did not seem that massive until I saw it in the bathtube, So It must weight quite a bit yet it really floats. What set are those ship hulls, they work pretty well.

I know that V1 receiver can't properly power the RC motor also it did not work properly with the AAA battery box, the thermal protector was cutting power all the time. With the Lipo battery the motor aparently worked fine... until I added the servo, then noticed the problem I am trying to fix now. My supply of receivers is limited until Lego adds V2 to S@H thats why I try to run one RC motor and Servo on the same receiver, but the behaviour was completely unexpected. I'll try to switch channels and see what happens, as in the current configuration my 5292 is totally unaffected in performance and the Servo simply does not work until 5292 stops drawing current.

Hello Assumption: PF Remote and Receiver can work both outputs at the same time. If my assumption is not correct then probably I wasted a thread However If that is correct I got a problem. I am using an IR Receiver V2 with 5292 on one output and Servo on the other output. When I try to run both at the same time the servo simply does not work. My guess is that the RC motor is taking so much power that the receiver can't power the servo. I guess the weak link is the receiver because I am using the Lego Lipo battery. So what is it? Can't PF work both outputs at the same time? What are the real power requirements of the RC motor? Is one Lipo enougth for one RC motor? Is one V2 receiver enougth? Do the RC motor need the power of both ouputs for it alone? Whatever is the answer any hints on how to properly power one or two RC motors are welcome.

Small Autovalve
aol000xw replied to Tamas Juhasz's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think I will use this in the future and if needed I will put a drop of white glue, the one that once dry is like rubber and you can remove leaving no traces.- 30 replies

Is this a genuine Lego Liftarm?
aol000xw replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Some chinese Lego knock off. Both parts were added by the same guy. -
My guess is that both motors always power both axles, . Besides that both diffs are on the same side so one axle needs an additional cog so both drive in the same direction, hence the indirect connection between both.

Lego Technic Clones
aol000xw replied to imajor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
High quality molds are very expensive and surely they are destroyed at the end of their useful life. My guess is that they make molds from original parts, hence that "softening" or "smoothing" of the chinese parts. One important hint are the mold injection points, from what I see they don't match to Lego parts neither in place nor in size. -
Lego Technic Clones
aol000xw replied to imajor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just by the looks the plastic has that brittle feeling that chinese mastered long time ago, some lack of sharpness in its shape and small imperfections on edges. No wonder those are cheap, you get pure cheapness. -
That yellow and black tape is high friction right? Really really nice.
