  1. Someone said something about big sets beign released every now and then out of the standard cycle, that's why I ask if there is nothing big to be expected until at least 2014 2h. It's ironic, but I think it's you who deserve the double facepalm
  2. So the biggest is the plane with just 1308 parts which I like a lot and looks big by size. But nothing in the range of Unimog or Mobile crane by part count until at least 20142h?
  3. in a GBC a platform/container balanced to be elevated could fill with balls from another GBC module, when filled with enougth balls weigth would lower the platform and activate a switch which in turn, with the power acumulated in the capacitor could open a door to release the balls. The platform would lift itself to its original position (self balancing) . The platform raising and lowering due to gravity could charge the capacitor.
  4. For washing I use, hot water, dish soap, a brush and patience. The Hydrogen peroxide is used in combination with sunlight to fix decoloration in old parts. I don't remeber exact times and dilutions, too much made the ABS brittle.
  5. What a Lego oddity! I had no idea such part existed. Can it be charged by spinning a motor?
  6. The argument of unreliable models due to size is somehow weak because we already have unreliable models, Unimog is a good example of what not to do Size is a challenge, bad engineering is a problem. I think 3k, 4k models are viable, it is just that they must be very well designed, and I myself don't see a problem with 2 battery boxes in a model by the way. Where some people can see problems I see opportunities, not only for new parts, Weak parts? go NASA, double everything, bulky mechanism? go nuts, bigger scale. A Technic UCS with its associated price tag must truly stand out, and there are many ways of achieving it. Not everyone will be pleased but the same applies to everything. Just look at the new truck For example to me 42009 is in S@H terms nice to have. but it is another damn yellow mobile crane. Now if for example it used Unimog wheels, (remove a couple axles if you will) and had more boom sections thanks to the new scale, with better extending mechanism, if it had a motorized compressor with dual reservoirs, pneumatic outriggers, everything remotely controlled, new longer and thicker cylinders for the boom and... not yellow. With matching price tag for such a beast. well... even for something as tired as a mobile crane I would be very excited and ready to pay a lot for it. Oh well perhaps is just me, I will be happy with a loom http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=521691, I need a new scarf
  7. I think assuming Lego can't go bigger than current sets and be reliable even without new parts is an error.
  8. Oh, you are describing a "System" instead of go "fishing" for parts. Yes, right now knowing what you need to make something like this is not obvious at all. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83403 I had my own idea for a "System", when I first heard of EV3 and the new OS I was hoping for a flexible digital interface for motors/sensors ressemblig a network, so multiplexing would be trivial, Then third parties could make different kinds of sensors and motors etc, Arduino would not be necessary.
  9. I don't expect a technic wheelchair set obviously! I just was making a point about Technic strength. anyways I was talking about plausible UCS Tehcnic ideas, so big like Sheepo's Land Rover is a good example and can be strong enougth, I never saw anyone reporting it broke down by the way.
  10. Ok, I don't want to hear again Lego Technic can't go big http://www.burf.org....ego-wheelchair/ And don't get me started with those big cranes out there, some more than a couple meters tall and able to lift several pounds. Edit: that is exaclty what I meant,
  11. I think everything you named here I saw it before at one or another third party like HiTechnic, mindsensors, Dexter industries etc, Third party sensors for mindstroms, adapter to use mindstorms sensors on Arduino boards, Boxes and adapters to interface Arduino boards and third party sensors and servos with Lego bricks etc etc, Am I missing the point?
  12. The only true big size SW UCS models are both destroyers and Millenium Falcon, and Death Star. The others are not "that big" but Is not only about size when talking Technic, is about price point. Target AFOLs and increase budget and complexity is not a problem anymore, suddenly suspension, stearing, gearboxes, wheels etc. start improving, specialized parts get introduced and RF (not IR) becomes a reality, all of that in models no that much bigger than 8880 or 8110. In the end the only limitation is price. They have been doing SW UCS for more than a decade now, when the Techinc Market mature enougth and they see a chance for profit, they will make UCS Technic (I hope). Hell, they sell those buildings like Sydney Opera House for 300€+. So a Technic UCS is not out of the question, right? Back to the topic, every single Technic plane I have seen is closer to a wireframe model than to the real thing, but I recall someone told something about lots of panels on the plane. So does it have a "skin" for the Body? wings? Engines?
  13. For the part count/functions it does not look that bad, not awesome and a bit expensive for a non PF set, but not awful. That wasn't a picture, it was a blurry thumbnail! I'll keep asking for an Ultimate Collector Series Technic model, with AFOLs as target. Does Lego have a clue about what % of it's technic models end in AFOLs hands? That might give a hint on chances of getting Techic AFOL sets. I guess not that many... After all Technic is not Star Wars, is pretty niche.
  14. Until we know price and part count bashing it is premature. I want a picture of the airplane so badly
  15. I thougth it was not necessary to put the resistor, there was something about that and multiplexing the sensors... but I barely remember that so I guess I am wrong, anyways good to know, thank you.
  16. The only reason I see for the sensors to stop working are corrossion and rust, nothing that can't be solved with some sandpaper. The amount of metal in the sensor probably can handle a few amps without even getting warm.
  17. If I understood correctly... Those wheels to a plate with pivot are hard, A couple wheels, and a couple attachs to the plate.
  18. I think Darth Dino was right here. The way the listing was done it was not clear that your listings were not related to TLG in any way.
  19. I got 42006 Excavator and 42009 Mobile Crane MK II this month, next month 9396 Helicopter and perhaps a couple 42007 Moto Cross Bike. Then on December some Bricklink orders and no more Technic until the new 2014 sets are available. Inbetween a couple SW UCS models and Mindstorms EV3, depending on funds.
  20. There is something in the way they used axles and connectors to make parts of the structure that always makes me smile. I love it.
  21. Using an old sensor with the adapter or making your own with a touch sensor?
