  1. Omg looking at both side by side makes it so plainly obvious how ugly the new one is. why? why?!
  2. I hate when they begging cutting corners like this and go from awesome to meh.(thinking of 42039 ) edit: Given the apparently nonsense with 42039, I wonder how the creative process go? How is it possible to make several prototypes and end up with a final model that is obviously worse in many aspects than what was apparently a final candidate.? Did they lower the part count to achieve a price target? IMHO 42035 is the best of this batch design wise
  3. I kinda like it, somehow... I don't really hate the changes... much. But This was way better The nose, the headlights, even the windshield looked way better, the fin was nice too. Look how the motor cover was perfectly paneled. How the body work perfectly streamlined matched the wheels Ok I depise it, not because it is bad, I depise it because now I realize how awesome it was for an official set.
  4. Since we got 42039 I guess there is not supercar for 2H. Mobile crane, front loader and excavator were recently done. Plane and Chopper too, and I guess Bulldozer can be discarded too. Unless they design something novel I guess some kind of truck. A garbage truck or cement mixer in 8258 scale. Volvo B Model is a dumper truck so a dumper companion is unlikely. But I'd like a big scale full RC fork lift. including a couple pallets loaded with barrels that would be very playable, I think it could be a good flagship.
  5. I liked the previous light design and mudguards in 42039
  6. Is there a grader in the background? A B Model?
  7. Yeah and the load looks unbalanced, it simply was the most extreme example of a yet in one piece mobile crane I found. I I did not know that most cranes at full extension even with no load have some noticeable deflection to them even at mild angles.
  8. That is Interesting and after researching a bit ... I conclude than my cranes are quite faithful and behave like real ones Seriously, this was unexpected, it flexes like a fishing pole....
  9. As I said on Sariel's thread, Just don't go for the 96mm version, 106mm ones are way better. The rubber isn't as sticky as RC4WD, a quite noticeable difference in grip, but they are way better than anything Lego.
  10. If your collection is big keep it, as a few sets more or less won't make a difference, otherwise sell it and spend the money in a few new sets for a better parts/dollar ratio.
  11. When a few years ago I saw in motion that walking AT-AT Lego made my first reaction was "Kill it already, put an end to its suffering" Since then my concerns about PF performance have been growing to a level that the purist in me is dying out of despair. I already got a jar of silicon grease and some LiFePo batteries, it just feels natural to start blowing out Lego bits here and there by trying some RC stuff. It's for the science
  12. ¿Best looking? Compared to other Lego rims and once fitted to a good looking model perhaps those aren't that ugly, but compared to real and RC rims... well not a beauty. I still like 8880 rims more than anything Lego has made to date.
  13. I myself don't build replicas even If I see the appealing to it, however I fail to see how other's replicas can take anything from me when the time comes to get/build an official set. None is forcing me to study those replicas or stealing my chance to build a novel Lego set. And if I were to build the replicas myself, building the official set afterwards would still be enjoyable. For those into Scify building a replica and an official set is like reading Ender's game and Ender's shadow.
  14. What a kind way of saying ugly! Also pins don't fit correctly in the 3 holes so you are limited to axle fitting.
  15. I can't again keep doing anything as I did not post anything about replicas before. . At no point did I say that you only follow instructions like a sheep. Care to quote where did I say that you do that? But since you missed the whole point I will please you and tell you again that building a replica is a bigger challenge way more satisfying than following instructions like a sheep. And to me that is the point of doing it. I hope I am still funny, sounding rude or dumb would be a shame.
  16. Bad analogies make terrible arguments. A Lego set is just a box containing a bunch of classified parts in bags and instructions on how to build a certain model. So it is a quite limited pleasure if that is all you can make out of it. Figuring out how something is made is a bigger challenge way more satisfying than following instructions like a sheep. And after that you still can follow the instructions and enjoy learning form what mistakes you possibly did. To be honest your arguments have no merit.
  17. Yet 8674 which at first sight was another Silver Champion recoloring was racers... Racers isn't a theme itself IMHO, some sets look like City, others Model Team and some Technic, but it was very convenient with their Ferrari license.
  18. Judge by yourself, you will notice the swolling and then...
  19. Well it's hard for something made of Lego not to remember to the exact same thing made at roughly the same scale of Lego too. Yeah Mr obvious here.
  20. My experience with my only RC motor is that with some grease the ABS will hold fine as long as load isn't really high, that is where the airboat idea came from, as it can be as simple as a direct drive propeller. The "out of range" problem is welcome, as soon as IR signal is lost power is cut, so for developing purposes is ok. Once SBRick comes out well I'll need to figure how to recover a hopefully fast rogue boat. I don't mind a few ms delay in response, so I could use a resistor and capacitor to convert the PWM to a proportional DC. However reverse will be a problem
