  1. It looks symmetrical, I reckon there is no steering.
  2. Congratulations! It is interesting specially between second and third winner that the difference in votes vs points is not proportional at all!
  3. Some people have strong feelings about how things should be done, what is the proper way of building things, others don't care as long as it looks goods. Whatever is your point of view you guys got a lot of experience building things I pretend to benefit from it Steering, ackerman, return to center, camber.... there is a long list of terms every now and then get discussed here. Highly detailed super-cars trying to mimic their real counterparts to the last function are highly regarded, however performance is invariably disappointing. Weak PF and high weight are to blame. So focusing in performance making things simpler and consequently lighter is the way to go. So the question is how simple? I am trying to find some kind of consensus on where sits the line between functions hurting/improving performance/handling on a light fast medium model . I'll try to make a short list and give you some constraints that may help you give an opinion. Think of a 2 buggy motors model with a very light body work, some LiPo batteries powering them and a SBricks for receiver, so fast for Lego standards. Differentials It is obvious what those are for, but given the low weight, is there a noticeable difference at high speed? Friction and complexity are worth it? 4 wheel drive. My guess is that for off road is worth it hands down, but what about fast road models? Do the use of differentials or lack thereof change your opinion on this? Steering. Is there anything that you consider a must have no matter what for a fast road car even if it makes the model take a hit on the weight side? Servo or Medium? Suspension Wishbones, struts, live axles, more concepts than I understand or remember....What is your suspension take on performance? Is it even necessary? Gearbox Usually not worth the complexity nor the weight necessary to control it. Do you agree? Not? Explain please! So that is it, what a fast car needs and what not and anything you may want to throw in.
  4. What is really outstanding is that he achieves making balloon tires look good.
  5. 42029 is crying at some dark corner...
  6. The problem is the plastic, at least I can confirm trans-clear ones end breaking and regular ones at minimum bend. The spring however will happily recover its original shape with no sings of fatigue.
  7. Isn't the powder melt? Even if the surface is textured it probably isn't porous, besides... it is still nylon. In this case the relevant properties are in the material, not the structure.
  8. Fishing lines are made of nylon so no problem even in saltwater Your parts catalog has grown quite a bit, nice parts everywhere!
  9. So if you already need a variable speed input... what does it achieve? I don't see it as a CVT if you already need some kind of speed control....
  10. where do this fit besides 8880 rims? Also, which parts do this ball fit? Besides.... Thanks
  11. With so much criticism If I were the designer of the second model I would be frustrated and secretly hating you all and planning even more disappointing and uglier designs as a subtle vengeance. But that's me, I am a resentful bitch
  12. Le Mans is the oldest race, run for almost a century. Suzuka didn't exist 50 years ago. it's not about being Eurocentric it is about well earn recognition. There are many other 24h races like Dubai -not even 10 years old- but the reference is Le Mans and everyone understands what a "Le Mans car" is, but a Dubai or Suzuka car? Was 42041 a limited edition in the same sense 41999 was? Many people expect a non limited edition of 41999 but I don't see it coming, furthermore 41999 is for the most part 9398, which is still available. Do you think an unlimited edition at some point makes sense? That would be a lame way of lacking innovation.
  13. 24h and Le Mans are almost synonyms, there is no mistake in what type of car we are talking about, on the other hand I think racing prototype sounds too vague. So when are we getting pictures of the real deal in the wild, any fair or anything soon?
  14. It means it is a Le Mans car without the possible copyright issues
  15. The plane launcher was unexpected and the perfect final touch.
  16. It is not my creation, it is Johnny 5 by piotrek839. It is painfully slow, but I still love it, the schematics are amazing.
  17. Sorry If this has already been posted, no search results for johnny I wish Lego motors were more powerful
  18. It has some unpleasant effects in handling when accelerating, breaking and cornering, weights quite a bit and has some extra friction.
  19. Somewhere in between they reduced the number of sales too. Sometimes less profit and a bit of trust in the economies of scale are better in the long run.
  20. Yeah the designer went on holidays and a scholarship holder finished the work.
  21. Competitors? Who? The chinese knock offs? Megablocks? I ask because I can't take those seriously. I don't know anyone who actually looks to purchase those... I reckon Lego Technic does not really have competitors per se. Well perhaps I can get a chinese knock off of the original design
  22. In order to make us think so many models suck because they can't do anything better instead of for example make us think they can still make awesome designs but for some corporate dumbness they don't? I am not sure if that is an improvement....
