  1. what? that's nuts...they are supposed to be marketed to the public, why would they not sell them in the stores? I would assume these would be sold in WalMart/Target/TRU, etc as well, or did I miss this and they are Lego exclusives
  2. oh wow, that is amazing, I have always liked Zorro, you captured it, that is spectacular if you ask me, great job and standing ovation, this is one of those where if they made this I would be first in line to buy
  3. Agree, PR seems to be the highest selling modular ever, lots of folks love the details and the build so I would expect it to be around for at least 3 years, but that is my opinion...the next one could be the one to get and then everyone loses interest in the PR so it goes away, but based on average, the modular sets are out for at least a 3 year span.
  4. anyone know if the release date in the US is Nov 1?
  5. Just an FYI, at SamsClub last night and they always have Lego sets out in their holiday stock...this year it is Friends, they had the Shopping Mall at $89.99 and then Jungle Bridge Rescue for $24.98 and the Summer Caravan at the same price. While the smaller sets are only $5 discounted, the shopping mall being $20 off isn't bad.
  6. You may be right, it's been 10 years since I watched it, I think you are to be honest, I do remember the containment unit though, and Peck, so to put out that as a modular or not, I would think you have to have that part in it. I have to agree, 5 is just a lot out there and it is hard to imagine that even the Nov 21 announcement would be for another modular until something is gone.
  7. we almost need a lighted dashboard showing the modular and country and if it is in sold out status, available status, etc...I think if you go 5 pages back and look there are 50 posts or more just talking about TH and it's status meanwhile back at the farm, still no word, I did some web searching and found out all the same info on the det agency rumor, but no definitive info with no release date, sigh
  8. Just an educational point...all reality shows, even the cooking ones mentioned, are script written. Even American Ninja Warrior. Now the competition there is real, I know folks who have seen it live, but to an extent there is always a script writer for every show. I personally feel this is a horrible idea unless it was a kids show but even then, you would have so much to nail down, camera angles, I mean seriously folks, how are you going to show kids putting the little pieces together? This would have to be a 4 hour competition that is seriously edited down to 22 minutes. I am guessing someone at TLG just wanted to jump on the bandwagon and this will be a failure in the end. Sure it would be great to see some techniques and the final product, but other than us, how many people are going to tune into a Lego building competition?
  9. I like what he did to the building but that section of "masks" which is really just heads is kind of creepy to me. Talk about your one color though, whew...thanks for the link. I think the main problem with GB HQ was that you never saw upstairs, but the containment unit was in the basement so have to make some sort of basement to it.
  10. after being out all last week with the flu, I am now on the bandwagon for a hospital modular, I pray none of you get that nasty sickness, it puts you on your butt, so we do need a hospital for when our minifigs get sick, or a doctors office at least I think the GB HQ would be a one off like the Simpsons, would be interested to hear if anyone has modularized that house
  11. I personally wouldn't mind a train station, but the ones I have been in have huge spaces, so you wouldn't get the traditional 3 floor setup we are accustomed to, it would need to be 2 or 3 floors of space, but only one main floor, in that case making up for it by having a train with a coal car would be ok, but it would have to be old style train with an old style station. I am a fan of the midnight express but not the horizon and the newer ones as much.
  12. Stealing is stealing, it's wrong, I have seen it many times as well, esp with the Star Wars book that had Luke with the medal. I know we have a Harry Potter book that still has the figure but it took rummaging around to find one with the figure. The problem is most stores are used to it and plan for it. Sad
  13. I have now found Wave 5 at TRU, the Lego Store and Target
  14. Agree, have said it before, there is enough architecture in the world to do at least 4 sets a year at least as big as Pisa or White House, the LM being that small vs the White House which was much bigger boggles my mind. I would like to see 6 sets a year with one big one at least (big meaning at least 800-1000 pieces) we have all mentioned many a place that could be used, but I agree TLG is seemingly not active in this line to a great extent.
  15. Haven't seen that movie in years, going to have to find it somehow to go back and see the building, I can't even imagine a Jessica Rabbit Lego
  16. We know, it's really just something to pass the time while we wait for the end of the build and review. I just thought the bird looked out of place since it seemed overly large for such a small kitchen. In reality, Vintage, I blame you, cause you aren't building fast enough and putting out your great reviews. Please take our comments as facetious.
  17. Haha, yeah Starbucks, a true Parisian 5 star restaurant...now if you tell me you ate at Gusteau's with Anton Ego, I might just buy it. ;-)
  18. The good thing and let's hope it happens again, is that last year, the day after US Thanksgiving was 3X points as I recall. So Nov 28 might be the best day to get any set. I am with rollermonkey, not a big thrill if folks are stocking up on the sets just to resell.
  19. I am flattered you joined EB just to refute my turkey comment and while I admit having never been to Paris, have a friend who has been many times and been to these restaurants. While I agree that fowl is a main staple of the diet, could you tell me how many times you have had turkey in a restaurant? Not saying it doesn't exist there, but that bird in this kitchen is extremely large and I was going off of Vintage's comment. A quick google search of top Parisian foods never lists turkey as well. In any case, seeing the second part of the review and getting back on topic, I want to commend Vintage for his technique and great commentary as he continues to bring us through the build. I really like the exterior in the back of the building and the front columns are very nice, also the wine bar, which I first mistook for a fire place is a nice touch.
  20. A few pages back we posted that there is an exclusive announcement coming out on Legoshop facebook page on Nov 21, since Slave I took the Oct 6 slot, we think this slot is for the modular, well we hope it is anyway. So Nov 21 is the next day we may likely hear about it.
  21. I haven't looked at the other reviews of PR, but since I haven't purchased it yet, I thought I would check this one out. I feel the review is good, great pictures, but to me, this build looks to be the most basic of the modular buildings. I am not sure why, but it feels more basic than the others. Why would there be a big turkey in a Paris Restaurant? Shouldn't there be snails or other French food? And why is the kitchen so small? That little thing is supposed to crank out the food for all those seats? I do not like that we have the big CHEZ on the floor and then we cover it up with seats. I will still be getting this one, but overall my enthusiasm has waned on it even more. I think the place could be bigger, but I don't feel like spending over $300 to get 2 of them to MOD it to be a proper building. I do really appreciate the review though, it helps me decide to get something else instead as I am still really trying to see the value on it. I thank you greatly for the review.
  22. I feel this is due to the quality of work coming out of China and Mexico, before they had factories in those countries, I never had a missing piece, but since then, when I get a set with a missing piece, I look to see if I can figure out where it came from. I am not saying it is all those 2 countries of course, but I know the issue started when more stuff started being made in those 2 countries.
  23. I would go ahead and buy the one you like the best, if you are one of those that have to get every one of them, then yes start with oldest and most scarce...the bottom line is it is your wallet and your discretionary income to choose what you want. Go look at all of them online and ask yourself which one will bring you the most pleasure to put together and display and the like. You need to do what makes you happy. I was lucky to miss out on the first 3 but get the rest as they came out with the exception of PR since I knew it would be around and now since it is 2x points, I can pick it up. I did purchase a green grocer on ebay for $550 which I feel is nutso...as while it gave me a ton of fun to put together and sort of be the centerpiece on my block, I still think that $550 was WAY too much for it. It was not $550 worth to me. Others might disagree but this is why I have not gone to get the Café Corner, I just can't fathom that cost for the building. Remember most of all this is a toy, you do not need it to live survive or be happy; however, this is your hobby so if you have the money, and feel like picking up a modular, then go with your heart on it and you won't go wrong. I personally feel Fire Brigade is the best modular myself, I like it the best. I feel Haunted House is the next best although not a true modular, then Green Grocer, then I do like Town Hall...that's my opinion though. Good luck in whatever you pick up, if you go with your heart you will be happy.
  24. near as I can tell it looks like a solid 4x4 brick with pegs or maybe 2 of them since the bat signal looks too wide, I hope to find out, have it marked on the calendar to get there with my kids and hopefully get 2 of them built...I think this is a kids only thing, you can find out at toysrus.com/toyevents
  25. In this Sunday's TRU ad, on the front page, they have advertised a Build Your Own Bat Signal Spotlight in the store on Oct 18 from 12-2, there is a picture of it and it is pretty nice looking. Here is a link to a pic: http://www.usmomdeal.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Screen-Shot-2014-10-07-at-9.22.17-PM.png I would love to get it just for the large bat signal piece.
